Great service at La Pastaia. Really enjoyed the cocktails we had. The carbonara was really good as was the short rib parpadelle. We had the burrata with mortadella which needed better bread to accompany it but not bad. I’d definitely go back if I was in the area and in the mood for good Italian food.

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great . I had the bruschetta appetizer and the bread was too doughy , not good . My husband had a pizza , he said the flavor was good but crust was soggy . Our friends had the gnocchi and spaghetti with clams , they both liked their dishes.

Great vibe and food for sure - there was a patron who fell and hit his head hard on the floor, blood spilling out on the floor near our table. The waiter used my table napkin to clean the blood off the floor. They kind of just picked him back up and put him on the chair - while he proceeded to walk out and fall over out front from being too drunk, or concussed…or both. This threw off the ambiance of the room, and no manager came over to apologize or offer to cover dessert, even just acknowledge it…I’d recommend the place but that wasn’t handled very well last night.

Wow, what a culinary delight! La Pastaia Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere transported us to Italy. Our server, Sergio, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. The food was simply divine! The pasta dishes were cooked to perfection, with flavors that danced on our taste buds. The Calamari were crispy and flavorful. The Pizza Capricciosa was cooked to a golden crisp and the Tiramisù was creamy and decadent. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. We left feeling full and content, with big smiles on our faces. If you're looking for a genuine Italian dining experience, look no further than La Pastaia. We can't wait to go back and try more of their delicious dishes! 5 stars and a big thumbs up from us!

This place has upped their service level from the last time we were there. Water glasses never empty, checking on our food and making sure we were ok. Very pleasant staff. There are some true Italians working there. Food is good and the place is cute.

Excellent service and food! I wanted to try the homemade pasta but the Chilean Sea bass entree was calling me! Fortunately my server suggested a kid’s portion of the Carbonara. It was delicious!

Nice atmosphere when you walk in, though they should notice when it is cold outside that the inside patron are not near heat features. HH Caeser was delish with REAL anchovies which was impressive. HH cheese pizza was pretty good. HH calamari was overcooked and the red sauce with it was aweful. Complementary bread was not good. All of the pasta dishes each person had were delicious, especially the short rib. HH wine was a great price but sadly it was really horrible. On a positive note the service was excellect. It is a shame every food item was not at its best, especially at these prices! I would not recommend it until I possibly give it one more try.

Super cute and super good. I had the Spaghetti Cacio Pepe, delicious!! Coming out of the pecorino wheel. Drinks were good. Service was excellent!!

It was my first time visiting. My mom, brother and I experienced such amazing service, delicious food, strong and yummy drinks and was in our favorite neighborhood of Bay Park.

We were the first people in the restaurant at 10:30. The floor of our table was covered in smashed tomatoes moved to another table and that floor was not much better. Looked around and all the floors looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. My feeling is a clean atmosphere means a clean kitchen. When we received our food it was cold. And toast was completely black on one side. You would think being that it was not busy at all that the kitchen would be producing nice hot and unburned food. We won’t be returning . Was pretty grossed out.

The pappardelle noodles were not properly cooked and there was a great deal of fat from the short ribs mixed into the dish. I had to remove several large pieces of fat from my dinner which did not enhance the experience. The restaurant is quite noisy and you are better off sitting outside.

They sat us by the bathroom and there was a very strong smell of chemicals. I am allergic to that type of stuff and ultimately gave me asthma. This is unacceptable and made the experience unpleasant. Our server was nice but also the drinks were basically water and ice and the pizza was not even sliced. This is a health issue and I hope they refund my dinner.

Super crowded and popular, but they handled it in stride. Staff were working their butts off. They apologize for any delays, but it really wasn’t noticeable it just seemed like a very relaxing dinner. Cute ambience that surprised me and the outdoor patio was lovely. Excellent cocktail selection and delicious food.

This was a delightful find that we discovered because of restaurant week. My family enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back. My husband got the pasta that was stuffed with a lamb ragu that was fabulous. My daughter and I both got to try several things on the tasting menu and my son liked the wood fired pizza!

Everything was delicious. The pasta was outstanding. The waiters were excellent. It was a little noisy, but only because it was crowded and people were obviously having a good time and vigorously conversing.

Food very good service not good. They ran out of the appetizer I wanted I asked the waiter how big the second choice was so we can share he overly exaggerated it it was too small to share. He did not check with us after the food was delivered to see if we needed anything else such as shredded parmesan on our dish or if we needed more water, wine, or the check. I feel he did not deserve the tip I gave since a tip should be for service which was non-existent.

Food was amazing for the restaurant week menu. The stuffed eggplant was fantastic, the Pappardelle has always been my favorite dish, and the canoli was out of this world. Service was superb as always. The only negative point is the sound quality in there is just weird, or off. Like acoustically. It wasn’t that loud overall but the lack of an actual ceiling makes the sound quality for convos difficult. Don’t know how else to explain it.

I read about a new restaurant opening in Bay Park about 6 months ago. It got rave reviews. I decided Restaurant Week was the perfect opportunity to go sample. The place is a #1 knockout. If it were located in Hillcrest it would put Arrivederci out of business. The Italian authenticity and spin on preparation is beyond one's expectations. Portion size is good and menu choices make it very difficult to decide what to eat and that includes the desserts. There is an extensive wine list featuring Italian wines from various regions of Italy and unusual selections like a Barbera which is rarely found on any wine list in an Italian restaurant. Get in your car or call an Uber as soon as you can because this place has become well known to locals and is always crowded. Manga manga

Food was good but not breathtaking. Solid 4 stars. Nice place for the community to have something not overtly trying to be another 5 star, Michelin star restaurant like so many around San Diego. This was nice to have an intro also to a new place during restaurant week and would come back with friends if invited.

We booked a table after we saw La Pastaia on KUSI promoting Restaurant Week. Upon arrival at 1130, we’re told that the Restaurant Week menu doesn’t start until 3pm even though we had called the day prior day to confirm. The man in the front didn’t seem to care much and had an ‘oh well’ response to the situation. Had no choice but to eat there since we were meeting friends there. We asked for a high chair, which I had to grab myself, and the service overall was extremely slow. While taking our order, we asked to substitute a side item but ended up charging us extra for a side. While the food was delicious, our entire party was not impressed by the lack of customer service and will not be going back to La Pastaia.
