La Nacional has been feeding Spaniards and Latin Americans in New York since the 19th century from its historical brownstone in the heart of what was Little Spain. Today, our volunteer-run non-profit has opened its doors to create a community restaurant and gathering place for everyone to enjoy. The Society sponsors the visas of Spain top young chefs - providing them with an apartment in our brownstone to draw inspiration from La Nacional’s past and establishing a culinary epicenter in New York City for Spanish food. Our goal is to offer diners innovative cuisine, reasonable prices and a neighborhood atmosphere for everyone.

The Restaurant at La Nacional is the catalyst for significant cultural and community programming that reflects the Society’s 155 year-old mission. This includes free or low-cost apartments upstairs for artists-in-residence and opening our event space on the parlor floor to community events, cultural pursuits and charitable causes.

In addition to our restaurant space, La Nacional offers a newly refurbished, fully-equipped large event space on the parlor floor of our historic brownstone. With our expansive catering service, full bar, and premier staff, we can accommodate a wide range of unique events. The room can hold over 100 people and is equipped with audiovisual technology, including a large screen and a new sound and lighting systems. We have hosted conferences, classes, cultural events, concerts, meetings, weddings, private parties, film screenings, and more. It was an extraordinary evening. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect. Adrianna (the hostess) and Adrianna (our waitress) could not have been more attentive and generous. Will come back very soon!

The tapas were great; one main dish (the cod) was lukewarm. Appetizers were served before the wine we ordered was served. The service was friendly as usual, but the cold cod dish was a disappointment.

Always great. Food is amazing. The fideua is a hidden gem. The tortilla, calamari and gambas are a huge hit and they were happy to accommodate specific requests.

La Nacional is my favorite Spanish restaurant in New York (maybe anywhere... including Barcelona...) - get the patatas bravas, the tortilla, and the pan con tomate... the steak and chicken are excellent as well. Not a paella guy but it looks good when others order it. Will always come back - probably have been here more than any other restaurant in NYC!

Wonderful gem of a restaurant. Authentic Spanish food (as far as I could tell!) lovely people helped us celebrate birthdays. Make a reservation for inside seating to see the food being prepared in the open kitchen! Will be back and bring friends!

Excellent food in an appealing atmosphere. My only complaint is that among our table of 6, foot was served very unevenly. In fact, 4 of us wee nearly or completed done eating our entrees before a paella dish was served to the other two diners at our table.

This is my favorite restaurant in NYC. Only issue I have is that there can be very noisy groups which make it less than ideal for conversation on the weekend.

Everything was delicious! We had the steak, arroz con lobster, potatoes, empanadas, shrimp…. So yummy! Even my sort of picky 11-year old enjoyed the food. Beautiful place & service was excellent.

Danny provided superb service in every respect! Aside from being highly courteous, prompt and attentive, Danny also provided clear and concise info and responses to our questions. He also ensured that the birthday cake for our friend was taken out of the refrigerator at the right time so that the temperature was just right at the moment it was served. The food is always fresh and delicious and the Bacalao con Pisto and Patatas Bravas are the best I’ve had!

In addition to our restaurant space, La Nacional offers a newly refurbished, fully-equipped large event space on the parlor floor of our historic brownstone. With our expansive catering service, full bar, and premier staff, we can accommodate a wide range of unique events. The room can hold over 100 people and is equipped with audiovisual technology, including a large screen and a new sound and lighting systems. We have hosted conferences, classes, cultural events, concerts, meetings, weddings, private parties, film screenings, and more.
