An homage to the San Jacinto Inn, La Lucha offers a unique and indulgent menu complete with the freshest Gulf Coast-only oysters, shrimp, crab, warm biscuits and satisfying fried chicken dinners. Meaning “the Fight,” in reference to the Battle of San Jacinto, La Lucha embraces it’s rebellious side with its beverage selections, surprising guests with a variety of bubbly wines, outstanding craft beers and the essential stellar tequila and mezcal offerings. La Lucha’s comfortable atmosphere pays tribute to chef-owner Ford Fry’s childhood memories, meshes timeless and industrial with a few nods to the 70s.

    We always enjoy it here, but it was a really great experience. The ambiance is always a little dark (which is no problem) but summer light makes everything perfect. Chris was a great server, food and drinks were delicious (did not have big block bourbon ice, but shook in a strainer and they were great) and they do an OUTSTANDING job with gluten free options. Greatly appreciated.

    My family and I really enjoyed our experience at La Lucha Restaurant. The menu items were a nice selection of southern style offerings and being from New Orleans, La., we were delighted to see the fried chicken and biscuits, oysters on the half shell as well as deviled eggs; to name a few. Our server Shannon was excellent in her service and explaining to us what to expect with each dish we were interested it ordering. The food arrived in a timely manner and was hot and scrumptious both in appearance and taste! The only advise I would give is if you go as a family (4 to 5 or more), some of the fried chicken dishes are large enough for (2) to share. The value is great when keeping the serving size in mind in regards to ordering certain items. It was our first visit but we have already added La Lucha Restaurant to our regular rotation of grub spots. The staff is very friendly and the bar atmosphere helps create an added ambiance as well. It’s a fun spot to take the family or for lunch/date night for you and that special someone too. It’s easily one of Houston Heights best kept secrets.

    Our experience at LaLucha was extremely pleasing and enjoyable. The server, Shannon was extremely courteous and professional. The food was outstanding and arrived in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend LaLucha to my friends and family!

    Food and service were outstanding! LaLucha is one of our favorites in Houston. Best fried chicken in town.

    Great service even on a crowded day. The family loved the dumplings and of course the fried chicken was perfect. I was surprised by the selection of fresh oysters. Will be back!

    Great food and a fun environment. Service was exceptional (Judah was a great server). Was a bit louder than I prefer - tough to maintain conversation.

    Our server, Carrie, was just amazing. The kitchen was having problems but she handled the problem well and saved our evening which was lovely in every way.
