Housed in Chicago’s Belle Époque building, the unique Art Nouveau-inspired space honors the iconic building’s legacy while providing guests with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere and menu. La Grande Boucherie blends the ambiance of an indulgent steakhouse with a refined Parisian brasserie charm, and fuses traditional French cuisine with Chicago’s River North culinary heritage. The service was beyond horrible. We wanted over 25 mins to be greeted by server and another 15 after that for drinks. Our appetizers came before drinks. It was all off cycle throughout entire meal. Absolutely a disaster with the service. Cool vibe and ambiance, but VERY VERY loud.

Visiting and read Eater recommendation, it felt like a chain restaurant or cruise ship version of a bistro. Understand the need to scale operation to make business model work in HCL area, just a mismatch in expectation.

We had a very special night thanks to you all! Our server, JJ was the best! As well as all of the other people that worked together to make us feel special. The food was fantastic! The drinks were perfect! My birthday was one of the best and the meal was very memorable! I am so happy to have this restaurant in Chicago!!!!!!! The room is gorgeous and we can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. Everything we had was perfection. Thank you!

For the price, it was way overpriced for the meal received. Other French bistros were just as good at half the price ie Mon Ami Gabi. The steak frites was fatty and chewy. And most of the food was warm to cold by the time we received it. For the price ($450 dinner for 4) was way too much. Desserts were very good but not outstanding. Management will have to do better as they were way over their skis. Would like to give it another shot but still out on this one.

Sorry, I really wanted to like this place, but it was loud disorganized and the food was very average. it was way too busy on Mother's Day and unfortunately, nobody in my party is interested in going back.

Service was terrible. Two dozen oysters never arrived. Glass of tawny never came with dessert but was on the bill. Needed boiling water to warm up a bottle and they brought a bucket of room temp water. You need to step it up.

The food and feel of the restaurant was great. I loved the menu and will return to try other items. However, the service was a big disappointment. The server more or less ignored us. We did get extra help from what we assume was management but that was spotty too. The busser was the best part of the service and wish he was our main service! It’s disappointing as otherwise I would recommend.

We have dined at the NYC location several times, but this was our first time eating at the Chicago location, (our home city!) and it was so good. We had escargot, Eggs Norwegian and the salmon entree. All were cooked to perfection, and the escargot dish contained some extra snails! No room for desserts, but lattes were excellent. Great service, and although it was Mothers Day, we were not delayed or rushed at all. It does make a big difference to book through Open Table😊

The food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. The venue itself is gorgeous and perfect for a special occasion. The price point was a little on the high side, or so it felt, but that is part of the neighborhood, I guess.

Went there for Mother’s Day brunch. The atmosphere was fun and lively yet noise level was low enough for conversatiion at a large table. Service was excellent and food great. Will definitely dine there again.

The environment is extremely loud on the first floor, the service was inconsistent. Slow on appetizers and fast on the entrees. Then they wanted to take our food away before we were done. Also, extremely expensive given the experience. Food was just ok. Steak tartare (one of our regular dishes when we go out) was off and vegetables were overcooked. Not going back again. French Fries, French onion soup and oysters were good.

We were eager to try La Grande Boucherie after all the buzz about the big opening. At the end, we had a fine time, but it was an evening of extremes. The good: It's a beautiful space and the soaring 2 level dining room with the view down to the bar below is great. We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival and our server was at our table within a minute of sitting. The food itself ranged from very good (rack of lamb, profiteroles) to excellent (tuna tartar, French onion soup, chocolate tart, creme brule') to "best steak I've ever had" (filet). The challenges: We were sitting on the upper level at a table along the railing. These tables are really too close together; the chair backs nearly touched the table behind, especially if someone shifted in their seat. It was beyond "cozy." Removing even a single table along the entire railing would give everyone just a bit more space. The bad: One of our group ordered her filet medium well. It was barely medium rare (closer to rare). Everyone confirmed medium well - at taking the order and at food delivery. Our server seemed shocked that it was so undercooked. Additionally, we ordered 2 side dishes that didn't come with our mains and we asked (repeatedly) about them. The save: Our server and a manager were beyond apologetic about the steak. Before we knew it, we not only had a properly prepared steak (the "best" she'd ever had!), but a round of champagne for the table and our desserts - all comped. There were many additional check ins once the manager was involved. The ending: Our dinner took over 3 hours. The restaurant still has some service and kitchen challenges to work out. The noise level bordered on uncomfortable, especially given the closeness of the tables. But the food was really good, the setting lovely, and it's definitely a spot we'll give a second shot. It's an expensive meal, and can be worth the splurge once the kinks are fully worked out.

Food was good, service very good but table location pretty bad - next to door which waiters were using bringing food from downstairs’ kitchen to 2nd floor every few seconds . Tables for two are very close to each other . It felt like communal table . Next time I would visit restaurant for a drink at the beautiful bar or I would have to have table by the window to avoid the slamming door .

Service was really slow overall. Drinks took a long time and had to wave someone down to get a second. Food was not cooked to order. What appeared to be the manager was walking around but not checking on any tables.

Food was underwhelming. I felt like I was eating at the Cheescake Factory of French cuisine. The fries were cold, the tartar seemed to be made with ketchup, the bread was cold and stale. Service was good, but the bussers cleared out the table in a manner not up to standards for a $200 dinner. Overall needs a lot of improvement. Unfortunately I will not return.

We went to Boucherie for a graduation dinner and everything was impeccable. The food and cocktails were phenomenal and delicious. Our waiter Steve did an incredible job explaining the menu and provided all-around fantastic service. It was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Chicago and I will be back soon.

Meat servings should be larger ... more ham on Madame Croque & improve the grisly "so-called" grisly Wague burger. The tables are too close for the room's sound volume.

Second time visiting this restaurant. It's eclectic; open dinning floor plan that's a little tight. The elongated bar is a great met up place. Food was well prepared, decent portions, although the dessert menu could have more offerings. Our server, Marco was very engaging and attentive.

I was excited to try this restaurant and really wanted to like it, however, this wasn’t the case. The food fell short on everything that we ordered. We asked for specific smaller oysters and our server told us which to order. They showed up as jumbo size and we could hardly eat them. They had pork belly but nobody could tell us how it was or how served. To their credit, the manager heard and had one sent over without charge. This was very thoughtful on their part but it showed up and tasted like an overcooked, tough pork chop. We then ordered a ribeye and when it showed up it was thin and resembled something you would get at a fast food steak house such as The Outback or Sizzler. Plus, it tasted as if it was completely missing any seasoning and was incredibly bland. The only thing that was very good was the foie gras torchon and ironically it was the only thing that wasn’t made at the restaurant as it was store bought. In the end, it was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I have had. All for the overpriced amount of $330. I hope that they get their act together as the ambiance is very nice and the waitstaff tried their best.

The food was overpriced and not like any French cuisine I’ve ever eaten. Overall I would say it was rubbish. The place won’t last.

La Grande Boucherie was a big disappointment. Given their prices I had expected much more. The appetizers were good (pate, escargot, tomato salad). The steaks were ok, but no where near other comparably priced restaurants. The desserts were the most disappointing part of the meal. The passion fruit tart was very good. The mini madeleines were bad (they missed on texture and flavor). The Paris Brest was bad (the crème mousseline was good, but the pate a choux was terrible in both flavor and texture). Our server was excellent, but the supporting staff that brought the food out was out of step, depositing the appetizers in the middle of the table rather than in front of the person who ordered it, and then several of the entrees wound up with the wrong person. The restaurant was so loud that it was difficult to hear others across the table. All in all a very disappointing evening.

The appetizers were pretty good. I got the halibut and it tasted rubbery. Not a very good texture. Good ambience though.

Great service and ambiance was fun. Food was good, muscles appetizer was our favorite thing. Steaks and lamb were very tender, all good but not amazing. One steak overcooked. One big bummer was a 3% “restaurant surcharge” on whole bill including alcohol (completely separate from tip). Seriously, no longer have Covid excuse so just an additional money grab.

We were seated outside, so the noise level was "Chicago". The food was very well done, escargot, fois gras, onion soup, desserts. Service was excellent - present and available but not overbearing. $100 per head which is on the high side, but it's a nice place and good service and food doesn't come cheap.

Excellent service and decent food, but you can find better quality elsewhere for those prices, which makes the overall value medium to low. One thing I would point out is the way the restaurant was designed echoes a lot and makes it very loud.
