Le restaurant La Costanera vous fera découvrir la richesse culinaire du Pérou. Ce restaurant de cuisine fusion péruvienne moderne a ouvert ses portes le 2 octobre 2009. Situé à quelques minutes de voiture de San Francisco (33 km), il vous accueille sur la côte pittoresque de Californie, à Montara, et surplombe le Pacifique. Il dispose d'un grand espace, de grandes baies vitrées, de 3 étages et de 929 m² d'espace en bord de mer. Il bénéficie d'une vue sur la plage et de la brise marine chaque soir. Vous souperez en admirant la vue sur l'océan. Il propose également un bar, des bières locales et importées du Pérou ainsi qu'une carte des vins sélectionnée. The food is amazing and very well prepared and presented. We were seated near a door on the first floor and it was quite chilly outside. Would avoid that spot in the future. Best seats are on the second floor, or if you’re interested in being outside, the patio. Meal timing was a bit off, 2 of us got our meals at least 10 minutes before the last one yet it was all delicious.

This was the perfect place for a family gathering. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the live music, views and festive ambience. We had mentioned we would be bringing a baby stroller and wheelchair and were provided a table with plenty of room surrounding it. The menu had many choices and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and provided good service. We look forward to returning.

Exceeded my expectations! Ordered the yucca croquettes, chicken chicharron, beef empanada, churros & lomo saltado. Definitely some of the best Peruvian food I have ever had, definitely had a chefs kiss! First time there and a great experience.

Things started great! We had some delicious first plates and drinks. However, at some point our dinner order got lost, and the way it was handled by the staff was embarrassing and borderline comical if it had been such an inconvenience. The food was delicious, but clearly, finding reasonable restaurant staff in an area the is so unaffordable is having a lasting negative effect of what could be a great restaurant.

My husband and I discovered Costanera because we wanted to try something different and thought a drive to the coast would be fun. What a treat we found in this gem! We ate on the second floor and had a wonderful view of the harbor. The tables were well spaced, so even though it was busy, it didn't feel crowded or loud. We weren't familiar with Peruvian food, but the server took time to orient us to the menu. When I asked about gluten free options she brought me a gluten free menu! When does that ever happen? It was gluten free on one side and vegetarian on the other. I had an amazing salmon dish that was so well prepared and flavorful. My husband had the steak tenderloin which he found to be tender and flavorful as well. We topped it off with the flourless chocolate cake. We left that night knowing we had found a new favorite. It was truly the best dinner I have had in awhile!

We had eaten here last year and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 reservation But it was 40 minutes from seating before we were acknowledged by anyone and at that point we actually had to ask for water. Another hour later our appetizers arrived, and it was almost 2 hours from the time we were seated before our entrees arrived. A table of 8 was seated after us and received their appetizers and entrees before we were served any food. The food might have been good but it's hard to enjoy it under neglectful service. We don't plan to return.

La Costanera has a wonderfully varied menu. We enjoyed the empanadas, ceviche, Peruvian fried rice, and the quinoa salad. The churros for dessert were great. The service was attentive. There was live music, and the singer and guitar player provided entertainment with at a pleasant decibel level.

Good selection of food for everyone including vegetarians. The Fish Taco dish was average, the burger and Mushroom vegetarian dish were very good. Their Peruvian appetizers were also good. Nice location and ambulance. Staff were very friendly.

Really lovely space. They did a great job making us feel special upon arrival for a birthday with a welcoming card and complimemtary dessert at the end of the meal. The food was excellent and drinks were great too. My seafood stew was delicious, as were the empanadas, yucca fries, and the octopus! Octopus was amazing. I loved the pisco flight too. Overall, lovely ambiance and a great night out with wonderful fresh seafood and very attentive and friendly service. Highly recommend!

We brought friends from out of town and they loved it. We all tried many different cocktails and food. They have delicious mac and cheese for a Peruvian restaurant. The meats in all of the dishes were tender and flavorful. Beef, lamb and pork all were well worth the price. The nice touch of potato chips with a vinegar salsa was great. We definitely will return with family.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner celebration. As the sun set and cast a warm glow over the harbor and restaurant, we enjoyed unique dishes. Our waiter was knowledgeable and made quite a few useful recommendations.

Orlando was very nice and went over the menu explaining the different dishes. We ordered Peruvian paella and Lomo saltado. Amazing dishes. You won’t regret ordering these. The pisco sours - we tried the original, maracuyá and chicha morada were also amazing. We loved the view and ambience. We are definitely going back and bringing mom and dad next time.

Our first Peruvian food experience and glad we chose La Costarena as we enjoyed every dish we ordered. The waitress was friendly and very helpful in explaining the menu. Loved the ambiance and artwork. Great service and wonderful food.

The food and service was amazing. The price was a little high, but you get what you pay for. Server never made us feel rushed. My date and I sat and talked for nearly 4 hours and nobody from the staff made us feel awkward about it. Would definitely recommend

Had a great time here. Service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. Recommend going for tapas...we didn't even bother with an entree. There were a lot of birthday and anniversary tables aside from ours, they do make it a special occassion with great waitstaff, good drinks, and great food. Don't miss the yucca croquettes or the tequeños de camarones.

As always our dinner was delicious. The service by Omar was amazing! He made sure to notice my cousin’s birthday and was very nice. Highly recommend this place the great food and excellent service.

The restaurant is like a cafe where we had lunch. They have very few booths, uncomfortable tables and kitchen chairs. No upstairs seating….no views. Enjoyed the food for the most part. Very engaging server!

I’ve been in this restaurant many times, even back when they were at the old location. The food and service here is always impeccable so I thought why not reserve a nice dinner spot for Valentine’s Day for the first time. I looked at their menu for that day and they had it advertised as a fixed menu for $135/person, which is a bit pricey but looking at what’s being serve for that day, and factoring my experience with them in the past, I gave it a go and made a reservation few weeks in advance for 7:45 PM. Fast forward to our dinner, we just barely started on our appetizers when we heard the waitress talking to our two next table neighbors that they had ran out of Lucuma Cheesecake and Dragon Fruit Tres Leches, which is the two exact desserts that we have ordered. At first I thought, maybe they just ran out at the moment, and they will magically have some more when it’s our turn to have our desserts. Nope, I was wrong! Here comes the same waitress telling us that the only dessert option is the Chocolate Carlitos (flourless chocolate cake), and another ricotta type of dessert that’s not part of the special event menu but from their usual daily menu since it’s available, I guess. My problem here is: 1. how do you ran out of desserts by 8:PM from a $135/person fixed menu that should’ve been accounted for from all the x numbers of reservations you have for that day. 2. Anything less than what was promised on the advertised fixed menu is unacceptable because we as customers know exactly what we have signed up for (in advance) and therefore we expect you to deliver. And 3. I gave La Costanera the opportunity to “hopefully” correct their misfortune by offering us free drinks with our meals or perhaps some hot espresso to go with our Chocolate Carlitos & Ricotta desserts which left us with no other choice by the way- but they didn’t do anything on their part. And that to me left a really bad taste in my mouth just like the two desserts that we both had and didn’t care for.
