Our restaurant showcases the best local produce with seafood a speciality & all home cooked on the premises. The La Chaire restaurant, Conservatory & Sun Terrace is renowned as one of the best in the island.

Naturally, being in a fishing village there is strong emphasis on local seafood, delivered to the door on the day of the catch. Our local supplier Dunn Ross Fisheries from the Jersey Market provides our best quality, fresh local fish including scallops, crab & lobster on a daily basis. Meats supplied by Woodlands Farm Butchers and fresh vegetables from Fungi Delecti ensure that every dish we serve is freshly prepared and cooked on the premises every day.

We recently took friends for afternoon tea as a ‘thank you’. Whilst the service was excellent, the ambiance was average (because Covid restrictions meant fewer guests) and, surprisingly, the food was basic and lacked imagination. The ingredients were fresh, but nothing special. The fancies on the top tier were very basic. The scones were small, although there was plenty cream & jam. Disappointing overall.

Still our favourite in Jersey! We always love going here and so happy to have visited again - the food is exceptional and the staff so friendly. Only shame that because of Covid restrictions we couldn't sit in the lovely lounge before dinner, but we'll be back for that in a few months' time

Lovely evening with attentive professional staff. I think the staff could be slightly more tactful when approaching patrons regarding the hotels protocols, I witnessed a couple being diverted from the stools at bar to a table in a brusk manner. My husband also asks if there was a cocktail menu and was treated in the same fashion. Constructive criticism for a very pleasant evening.

We’ve been regulars at Chateau la Chaire for a long time. Just had my birthday lunch there and it’s better than ever. It was busy with a great atmosphere, service as delightful as ever and food better than ever. Good to see CoVid precautions being taken so seriously, but without fuss. Full marks to Mark and his team.

Dined here on Saturday with friends who were over from UK. It was perfect. The COVID precautions were reassuring as they had both been shielding. The food and service were great and Sonia deserves a special mention for her cheerful and professional attention. They said they’ll be back which says it all.

We went for the Sunday lunch. The menu we got was not the same as the one online, but was just as good, though we had been looking forward to lavender cheese cake. We definitely will go again, though during the week, the a la carte

Very quiet, we were the only guests for afternoon tea but it was a Monday afternoon. I was invited to bring my elderly dogs in to sit with us, which helped us relax - apart from their snoring! Small point but it would be nice to get a voice at the end of the phone when calling to book a table - it is either 'book your table on-line or leave a message and we will call back'. My note on the reservation requested that we didn't have cucumber sandwiches please (there were none) but it had not been picked up by reception. I do not want these minor niggles to take away in any way the attentive service of our waitress and the sandwiches and lemon posset in particular were delicious. Chateau La Chaire is an absolute haven from Coronavirus, Donald Trump and storms with relaxing interior design to match the peace of the place.

Excellent lunch and all three of us were made to feel very welcome. Thoroughly recommend the hotel to guests who want a quiet place to relax and unwind. Coming from Gloucestershire and now living in Jersey we know some of the hotels in the County and have found all of them havens and that goes back many years. No doubt see you again before Xmas!!!!

We were fortunate to have booked for lunch on a day of glorious weather in mid September. We took the opportunity to eat at an outside table. The setting was superb. So quiet and peaceful as we dined. The staff were very engaging and friendly. The food was excellent and good value for money. What a great start to our weekend break in Jersey. We will return.

Severely disappointing. We've been going to your restaurant sporadically 40+ years and always knew it was excellent. Last year we went and were also disappointed but not quite to the same extent. We had assumed it was because it was chef's day off. Even so, we were in no hurry to repeat the experience; only because we had been given two vouchers did we return. The service was helpful and pleasant. The setting, as always, comfortable. But the kitchen! Admittedly, the starter and sorbet were good. However, the main course for both of us was unacceptable for a restaurant of your standing. The bass, clearly, overcooked. Possibly it left the pan in time, though brown from more than a light frying, but by the time - which was inordinately long before reaching our table - had reduced it to a dry, unappetising 'wodge'. The pork had long since been part of a roast. It also was dry, smothered in gravy (the sort I associate with 'pub grub') and heavily peppered - another trick for covering flavour, not aromatic at all! The vegetables were lumpy carrots, what tasted like Findus peas, if fresh, too long in waiting, and 'roast' potatoes? Well, surely the sous chef should have seen the clearly green potato that had been 'roasted' sometime before. The rest had no evidence of crispness and just warm, as were all the vegetables. The meal tasted as though it had been pre-cooked and put under the salamander grill, then swathed in gravy. The manageress assured me all food was cooked there and then. No. We sat waiting long enough for the fish to cook, the pork rested and still time enough to leave all cooling. Even the plates were tepid. Had they forgotten our meals, and needed to stick the food under the grill? The service was glacially slow, throughout. As for the cost! I'm sorry for my friends who bought the voucher - and even more so, for the second one we still have. What a waste of their money! Have no fear, though, we shall be telling them not to use your hotel again.

We are regular diners at the La Chaire Restaurant and have never had a less than exceptional experience. The food in terms of its presentation and taste are better than several Michelin starred restaurants I have frequented in the UK and the service is excellent without being over zealous. The menu is limited but sufficiently varied to cater for most tastes. Without doubt my favorite restaurant in Jersey by a very large margin.

An outstanding lunch, presented very well and of the highest standard. Service was warm, friendly and very efficient. Ambience is unique to the Chateau whilst the cost is decent value. Highly recommended for Sunday lunch.
