Edinburgh’s first gourmet steak restaurant, Kyloe Restaurant and Grill is found within The Rutland Hotel in the city’s West End, complete with castle views. Kyloe is an old Scots word for Highland cattle, chosen to represent the strength and versatility of the restaurant’s main event. Supplied by Scotland’s top farms, the Kyloe Restaurant and Grill uses cuts from pedigree Aberdeen Angus, taking provenance, rigorous approaches to breeding and handling and heritage seriously in order to bring customers the ultimate steak dining experience. Kyloe’s award winning head chef John Rutter uses a selection of traditional cuts as well as some more unusual cuts chosen for texture and flavour in an innovative grill menu while his a la carte features seasonal Scottish produce simply prepared to produce compelling dishes. Rutter's creations are complemented by the works of in house pastry chef Amanda Jordan and a unique and interesting wine list sourced through a number of merchants.

Our Sunday Roast was even better than expected! George was an amazing server and we absolutely will be back again and tell everyone to visit! All the Coos were an added bonus 🥰

Took my husband for his birthday & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had the scallop & langoustine starter which was nice however not alot of taste. We then had the Chateaubriand, Parmesan fries & portobello mushrooms all of which were super tasty. Staff were very attentive & friendly. Highly recommend for a special dinner.

Monica was fabulous. Super accommodating for allergies and intolerances and even went out of her way to make sure our anniversary was recognised and allergy friendly! Monica was also super knowledgeable in helping make our steak choice.

We ordered two steaks to be cooked medium. Unfortunately both arrived and were well done. The staff dealt with this with no problem and took the food back to have this rectified. When the steaks came for the second time, they were very good. The rest of the meal was also very good however we were disappointed when the bill came and there was no gesture of goodwill given that both of our meals had to be returned. It was a very expensive dinner and the experience was tainted by the wait for our food because it had to be sent back.

We received a voucher for our Golden Wedding anniversary and were absolutely delighted because we hadn't been before. The food and surroundings were lovely and all the staff were very mice especially Olivia who attended to us

Arrived on time seated straight away. 20 min later, the waiter took the order. Asked what soft drinks they had was just told they come from downstairs anyway from the bar ( no help). The starter Arrived at the same time as the bread for the table ( pointless) .starters were very good. Steaks were good, nothing special. Spinach in Yorkshire pudding was vile. Creme brulie sweetcorn was awful ( that's just my opinion) . Didn't bother with a pudding nothing on the menu sounded nice. And ice cream was to expensive. Overall a nice but not exceptional meal. Probably won't be back. Also the waiter was really annoying with yey yey yey to everything you said and not actually listening to what was said

Fantastic service from start to finish The roast sirloin was cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious If I’m nitpicking, the sides could have been a bit warmer and the yorkshires were a bit crunchy but overall fabulous food and fantastic experience

Beautiful meal, great service. Extra special add ons like choosing your knife, seeing the meat age. We went for the amazing Sunday roast, lots of sides. There are probably too many potatoes. Then, the special add-on is a sharing sticky toffee pudding. Definitely will be back.

I've been here once before and the minute I knew I was coming back to Edinburgh I knew I had to revisit Kyloe. The food is amazing and the service is exceptional. Keep it up. I will be back everytime I visit this beautiful city.

Fantastic food, made by a great experience from our waitress explaining all the cuts of meats and steak knives on option. Staff were very knowledgeable. Atmosphere was really fun and a great place to go for a special date night. The truffle chips were AMAZING. Steak was beautiful.

I usually visit Kyloe 2-3 times a year and the quality always amazes me. Steaks (I had Ribeye) were brilliant as were the starters (Monkfish) and sides (too many to remember!). Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable too. Would highly recommend and will be back again soon!

The food was delicious but the entire experience was spoiled by flies everywhere. It was disgusting and ruined what would have been a perfect meal. Not even sure the place should be open it's so unsanitary!

First of all, the impeccable service from the staff makes Kyloe stand out above the rest. It's a rarity these days to recieve such service that was attentive, friendly and you can see that staff take pride in doing so. Staff were understanding that we were not drinking alcohol with a long drive ahead of us and made sure we were well watered. The food, wow! If I want steak, I'd always go to Kyloe. We opted for the sharing chateaubriand with w sides and 2 sauces which was perfect as we had also enjoyed complimentary breads prior. The children's menu was above standard and I'd have paid double for what our son had. It was so tasty and worthy of being an adults meal. The complimentary birthday treat was a nice surprise and we wished we had been staying the the night in Edinburgh to enjoy our experience at Kyloe longer. We will most definitely be back. Many thanks to Nathan and the team and compliments to the chef.

We had a fab night. The steak was amazing, the best I’ve eaten. Everything about the food was excellent, the staff are so friendly and professional. We had the best evening, first time visiting Edinburgh and we are so pleased we chose to eat at Kyloe. We enjoyed a post dinner drink afterwards downstairs and that was excellent as well.

This is a nice quiet place for all that like meat. The food was delicious and the service good. It is quite expensive but it is worth it. We were really happy with our experience.

Was expecting a lot more from Kyloe after reading the reviews. Services was inattentive and slow. Half an hr to get a drink and an hr from arrival until our starter arrived. Was over priced although the food was lovely. I wouldn’t return, I think there are better restaurants for the price.

Kyloe is a nice enough venue. The expectation of this restaurant was perhaps a little bit much after what I had read about the place. The rib eye was a bit of a disappointment. £40 for a very pedestrian steak. Just felt and tasted bland. Unsure why, but it just didn’t have the usual flavour you’d expect from a ribeye steak.
