Edinburgh’s first gourmet steak restaurant, Kyloe Restaurant and Grill is found within The Rutland Hotel in the city’s West End, complete with castle views. Kyloe is an old Scots word for Highland cattle, chosen to represent the strength and versatility of the restaurant’s main event. Supplied by Scotland’s top farms, the Kyloe Restaurant and Grill uses cuts from pedigree Aberdeen Angus, taking provenance, rigorous approaches to breeding and handling and heritage seriously in order to bring customers the ultimate steak dining experience. Kyloe’s award winning head chef John Rutter uses a selection of traditional cuts as well as some more unusual cuts chosen for texture and flavour in an innovative grill menu while his a la carte features seasonal Scottish produce simply prepared to produce compelling dishes. Rutter's creations are complemented by the works of in house pastry chef Amanda Jordan and a unique and interesting wine list sourced through a number of merchants.

Decent steak in nice setting in Edinburgh. Friendly service from most members of staff. Our waiter David was disengaged but professional and polite. There was an error with the drinks order taken (2 drinks ordered) 1 correct drink and 1 incorrect, swapped without a fuss by another waiter (very friendly and polite made a joke about finishing soon and keeping it for himself good Humor!) When specials board was presented my wife enquired to the cost of the special sirloin on bone but the answer was directed to me. At the end of the evening our waiter made the assumption that I was paying despite my wife holding the payment card.

Excellent food Excellent service. Lovely Ambiance. We ate of the Market Menu and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. Great value. Wine s little pricey for what it is.

Fantastic steak, great service. Some interesting choices of food, including creamed corn brulee, and a choice of 5 steak knives (cute gimmick).

We absolutely loved our dinner at the Kyloe. We were visiting from the US and we’re celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary. Our dinner was excellent- I particularly LOVED the green beans with chili sauce. At the end of our meal, we were given an anniversary dessert which was very good and very appreciated. If we return to Edinburgh, we will return to the Kyloe!

Excellent Sunday lunch, beef was perfectly cooked & we liked the unlimited sides. Special mention to our lovely server (we didn’t get her name) she was attentive but not overbearing, really professional & friendly
