KOSAKA is located on a charming Greenwich Village street. KOSAKA brings the serenity and allure of a Tokyo sushi restaurant to Manhattan.
KOSAKA provides a unique combination of extraordinary food and an elegant appearance which fully embodies the Japanese Edomae Style.
As a Michelin star chef for the past ten consecutive years, chef Yoshihiko Kousaka is also a traditionalist in his preparation of sushi. He focuses on the seasonal assortment of exotic fishes flown in daily from Japan and sourced locally and he changes his offerings daily based on what is available at the fish market, both domestically and internationally. KOSAKA offers sushi bar omakase for $250 per person and table omakase for $225 per person.

As always, Kosaka is both elegant and unpretentious, offering excellent service and ambiance. Omakase is always a treat and the level of skill, craftsmanship, and warmth from the itamae makes Kosaka a continued place to visit for the special or elevated experience.

I was very much looking forward to visit Osaka - contact with the restaurant was promising, pictures of their food looked great, too. Afterwards I have to admit the experience was average. First of all, the amount of food which is served for the +200 USD omakase is very small. Either you should come not hungry here or just go for a dinner afterwards. I've been to another places in NYC serving omakase and it was way more and more creative. Staff is nice, ambience is fine, sushi is good, but also very traditional and I think if you pay 400 USD for a dinner being single and left the place hungry, something is just wrong.

It was very memorable time at Kosaka. The Staffs were so kind and professional. And of course the omakase courses were incredibly good. Our chef was friendly and we enjoyed talking to him. I want to visit every often.

日本人の寿司職人の人の言い方が、何だかキツイ人がいた。あんなにぶっきらぼうに話されると一気に冷めました。質問に対して不躾な返事でした。他の店員さんはとても気遣いのできる人でしたが、誰であっても客と話す時は口調を気遣うべきだと思います。高級寿司であるなら尚更。

The omakase was thoroughly mediocre, as was the ambiance and service. Given the high price, we expected much more. Perhaps they had an off night.

Very expensive for what it is. Good quality food, but very disappointed in the number of services, and being rushed out in 80 minutes in the context of a 250$ Omakase. We understood at the end why the server was trying to push the extras. A below par Michelin star, to say the least.

Sublime. Kosaka is a special place for a special dinner. The counter is an oasis of calm perfection, the food is melt-in-your-mouth wonderful, and the service is expert - although it can border just a bit on intrusive. It’s pricy - two dinners with matched saké will get you near to $1000… but the experience is unforgettable.

The quality and variety of the fish were exceptional, and our dedicated chef was a delight. The sake selection was fantastic. We thought the price was entirely justified, and the experience was just what we wanted.

Felt very rushed. Food quality is excellent however, not enough items on omakase. Our whole experience was barely 1 hour considering a price tag of this omakase....

I’ve been to quite a few omakase meals in NYC and across the country. This one was nice. Fish was okay. Only 1 or 2 bites made me go “mmmm so good” where normally at an omakase if I’m spending a crazy amount of money almost every bite should be a 10/10. This is BY FAR the most expensive dining experience I’ve had and it just doesn’t compare to others, for example sushi nakazawa is light years better for a cheaper price. If you just want omakase on a whim and don’t care about spending a ridiculous amount of money, you can go here and be satisfied at best.

Fantastic courses, beautiful knife work, great ambience. Wish there were 2-3 more pieces for the price. However, every piece of nigiri was mouth watering and left a distinct mark on the palate. Would highly recommend visiting

Opted for in for the Omakase with sake pairing. Recommend sitting at the bar to enjoy the “show.” Wonderful meal and experience.

I took my wife to this 1 Michelin Star rated restaurant on Valentine's Day. $350 omakase. The waiter asked if we had any dietary restrictions. We explained my wife doesn't eat tuna or raspberries. He said he understood, but that the dessert was raspberry based and he didn't think he had any substitute. Bad answer. Every restaurant has substitutes. If they don't, don't ask about food restrictions. When the sashimi course comes there is tuna in my wife's plate. I politely ask him if he is feeding my wife tuna, he proudly says yes. I remind him about the restriction and he takes it back. This should not happen in a 1 Michelin star restaurant. It gets worse. 1st nigiri course comes and there is yellowtail (a kind of tuna). At this point my wife, who is not one to complain, simply eats it before i can say anything. I am not pleased. Adding insult to injury, next course of nigiri comes and AGAIN there is tuna in her plate. At this point I just trade one of my pieces of sushi for her tuna. I didn't want to make a scene. I felt asking twice was enough. when the check came I paid cash and only left a $75 tip. I was tempted to leave nothing. The waiter did something i consider rather impolite at this point when he came for the payment, he asks if i need change. Something a waiter should not be doing in a fine dining restaurant. I see him at the register and he realizes what a low tip he is getting. comes back asks me if i was sure i didn't need change. He was expecting me to take the change back and add a tip on top of that. I politely said no again. I heard him crumple up my receipt for the dinner. He did not give me a receipt. We quietly left. The next day i called Paul the manager to explain what happened. He made excuse after excuse and didn't offer any remedy. The sushi was good. Not the best. The service was awful. Ruined the dining experience. I will warn people as much as possible about this place. What a waste. Much better places in NYC.

Our waiter, Park, was excellent! Very friendly, took time to explain things to us, was patient with us and an overall nice man. Yoshi, our Omakase chef, was great! He was so funny, explained the pieces of sushi to us, their origins & gave us tips on how to prepare things ourselves. You can tell he’s very dedicated & he did a great job! Sung, the person I texted back and forth with to confirm our reservation was super friendly & helpful. He was very accommodating and helped us move our seats from a table to the bar. This definitely enhances the experience and I recommend it. The ambiance is stunning and the place was super quiet. Perfect spot for an intimate date! 100/10 would (and will) go back!
