King Tide Fish & Shell, led by Executive Chef Alexander Diestra, is a riverfront seafood restaurant and bar inspired by the laid-back fishing lodges of family vacations gone by. With sparkling waterfront views of the Willamette, a welcoming energy and a menu that ranges from no-fuss to fancy, here at King Tide we serve fresh, inventive seafood dishes with local ingredients that are uniquely Portland.

There aren't many places that command the vantage point we enjoy here at King Tide, so we like to make sure it lives up to Portland. We do that with a blend of the traditional and the non, the comfortable and the slightly twisted, the satisfying food and the swinging drink.

As we like to say, King Tide is where food & drink & people always complement each other, and everything goes with the view.

I took my mom out for dinner here and was very excited as she doesn’t go out that often. Let me just say, this place pretty much blew both of us away! If I could give more than just 5 stars I absolutely would. We will definitely be coming back here!

Food was great as well as the atmosphere,and that was it. Service bad.. took 45 min to get food, refused to make any drink that wasn’t a mimosa, orders that arrived at the 45 min mark were then not correct which resulted in an additional 30 min wait. So I got to watch others eat, waited over an hour for food, and even though they had a full bar, wouldn’t even make a drink. Won’t be recommending this place. Truly disrupted Mother’s Day in a negative way.

This was probably one of the worse dinning experience I’ve had in a long time. The food took almost 2 hrs to get to my table and it was cold. We had friends sitting in another server’s area and had the same experience. I will definitely put the word out that this is a horrible Mother’s Day experience. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant!

The view from the restaurant is right on the Willamette river. The service was helpful and friendly. We thought the value of the meal was good and we each enjoyed our entrees. Wednesdays all raw oysters are $1 each and were of fine quality.

My octopus was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Brussel sprouts a bit wet--not crispy like i was expecting. But also still tasty. Service was occasionally absent (I think our server was training a new server, who was enthusiastic but also still learning), but we were also asked in advance if we were going to a show or anything, which probably meant they had other diners who needed more quick attention. Overall a nice experience in a nice setting by the water.

Understaffed. Food generally underseasoned. Layout doesn't take advantage of river views, so overall the place overcharges. Nothing horrible but nothing great either.

We were seated by the window on a sunny day. The server was pleasant but a little hesitate in certain areas. Food was really good. The restaurant was not full but was busy. They only had 2 servers and a hostess that couldn't do many of the needed tasks. Occasionally another person (male, probably manager) showed up to deliver food, opened our champagne etc.... We had to wait a good 20-25 minutes to get the servers attention to pay. The hostess was right there but couldn't do it. They needed at least one more server and the hostess needs to be cross-trained to do more tasks. We will go back but management needs to add staff so the employees can do their job better.

Amazing drinks and excellent food. Highly recommend! Afterwards we went and walked on the waterfront, it was lovely.

Our server was delightful, and the restaurant’s location was terrific. But our fish and seafood orders all were overcooked somewhat and the flavors a little bland.

I got the eggs Benedict. It came out hot! You all know how unusual it is to get eggs Benedict that are actually hot. It was also high quality, and well prepared. And hot!

It is a hotel restaurant and it is open on weekends for brunch. We were pleasantly surprised that the lobster roll was so good and crab omelet was delicious. The amount of lobster and crab meat was generous. The portions are big. Freshly baked breakfast pastries were tasty. There were a number of traditional brunch items on the menu. The service was very good and the dining room looks nice. It is 5 minutes walk to Keller Auditorium. Highly recommend it for pre-show meals.

Ordered filet for $42 and it was a tiny filet! Not that I need it to be huge but it was miniature. With that being said, it tasted wonderful and the Brussel sprouts were to die for. The waitress/service was excellent. I just wish they had a more to choose from for people who don't like seafood.

We chose to have NYE dinner here with a view of the Riverfront. We arrived early for a cocktail. We were given a quiet seat out in the front lobby by the fireplace - and this suited us very well. The manager on duty was great - friendly and professional. The bartender was new but very good and made our drinks perfectly. We ordered a dozen Oysters and the Peruvian hot sauce was amazing. But so was the Yuzu Shallot Vinaigrette. 11/12 oysters were fantastic. We also ordered calamari and it also had a Peruvian chili lime sauce that was excellent. We then went in for dinner. It was a table a little close to the bar - and there was an elevated noise level in the bar with other guests watching a sports game. Reminder that this restaurant is located in a Hotel and that it's not the Benson. There was a Prix Fix NYE menu but as we don't eat Pork and the kitchen said no substitutions (which is so odd since it's a seafood restaurant) so we ended up ordering off the regular menu. The manager helped us choose a bottle of Malbec that was lovely. We ordered a caesar salad - which tasted fine - but we thought had too much kale. And we ordered the Salmon. The fish was presented beautifully but way too fishy. We eat Salmon every week so we know Salmon. We mentioned it to the server who immediately removed it and ordered the Halibut as an alternative. The Halibut was fantastic! Manager sent over a dessert on the house. We will definitely be back. The food was great (except the salmon) and the service was top notch! The environment was still Hotel lobby restaurant - but not sure how to work around that.

The description on the web site described a laid back seafood venue. It is in fact very lovely however children are definitely not encouraged. Prices are disproportionate to the value. The halibut was overcooked and the mussels sub par. $25 for a plain hamburger and fries is unreasonable. Although the restaurant was mostly empty, are server pretty much ignored us. Would not recommend.

Our party had an awful experience at King Tide Fish and Shell. I messaged them on Instagram and called to confirm they had two items on the menu that are Vegan. They confirmed on Instagram and over the phone that the Roasted Butternut Squash and Wild Mushroom Stir Fry were Vegan friendly. When we got there they were all out of the Roasted Butternut Squash and was informed that the Wild Mushroom Stir Fry was not Vegan, and it was not possible for them to make it Vegan because it could not be made without Oyster Sauce. Service was poor, it took our waitress over 20 minutes to take drink orders. She also accused me of having a fake ID, and had to take it back to the manager to confirm it was real before putting in a drink order, even though I do not look under 21 and I am 30 years old. Although I am not Vegan, my partner is, and we have dined all over the world together over the past 4 years. This was the first time we had to cancel our orders, and get up and walk out because a restaurant was not able to reasonably accommodate her dietary restrictions. We do not expect every restaurant to have vegan options, but when we confirm with two different people that they were vegan friendly before making a reservation we expected there to be a reasonable accomodation. There was no explanation to why the Wild Musroom Stir Fry could not be made without Oyster Sauce. Seems strange to have a vegetable based dish that can not only not be made Vegan, but not even Vegetarian due it being necessary to include Oyster Sauce. Overall, if you have any dietary restrictions probably best to stay far away from King Tide Fish and Shell.

Unfortunately, we had an aweful experience last night for my Moms bday dinner. The place was mostly empty. So the warm and welcoming comment on their intro page is a complete miss. Nothing was warm and welcoming. Our waiter rushed us along. Forgot the lemon we had asked for my moms hot water twice. Then my sister thought she would ask the bartender and she was completely put out of her asking and said she would send the waiter over. She could have apologized and said here you go and just handed her the slice lemon. We ordered the French onion soup and there was zero broth. I’ve never seen anything like this. The lobster roll was a huge chunk of lobster on a massive piece of bread. It was not the experience at all we had hoped for. We will have to do a do over for her bday celebration. It’s sad because we had looked forward to this meal and the from the reviews it did not seem like it would disappoint. But all of us walked away not impressed at all. Great location is about all I can say that’s good about King Tide!

Not very busy but could hardly get a waiter to stop by and long waits after ordering anything. Drinks were ok, food was absolutely horrible. Calamari ok, salad almost unedible, french onion soup with no broth and a mash of onions and a hard biscuit like bread with a little cheese set on top of the onions, unedible. Truffle fries with so much truffle butter on them they were salty and overbearing. We stopped there and didn't order entries, we went elsewhere. The hotel lists thos as a nice restaraunt and it is nothing more than a bad Denny's with high prices in a sports bar setting.

food was fair overall. The scallops were delicious, the tuna tartar had very little taste. The mushroom stir fry was bland as well. The service was excellent. The price was way too much for the food.

I enjoyed our interactions with the friendly staff, decor was good, food and drink options were awesome, very satisfying flavors and serving sizes. The music was a bit too loud, and part of the seating was cramped so servers couldn't walk behind one of our guests to get to the other tables. But that aside, would definitely recommend to others. We got the nice bonus of the christmas ships floating by at the end of our meal! That was such a sweet way to be welcomed back out into the night!

Cosy place to get some excellent food. Highly recommend the mushroom stir fry. Mussels were also very good. The yule log dessert took us back to childhood!

Food presentation on the ‘family style’ was poor, the food itself was bland, took 20 minutes to get one round of drinks, and completely over priced for what we got. Didn’t make it through the full meal before leaving. Waste of a thanksgiving meal.

Thanksgiving dinner was not worth the great expense. Turkey was dry and platter had lots of scrap meat; green beans undercooked; dessert crust thick and tough. Had to request a soup spoon. No serving utensils for the family style meal. View of the river lights was nice. Staff was friendly.

Turkey was prepared differently and we needed to remove a lot of skin and bones before eating. The green beans were quite "al dente," and not to its benefit. Service was pretty good. The mashed potatoes, salad, soup, desert were pretty good. It was overly expensive but it was Thanksgiving.

Went for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was very institutional. The mashed potato was good. Maybe their non-holiday menu is better?

Very Disappointing - small portions for the high $65/person cost of the meal. 2nd rolls cost us $3.00/each which was not mentioned. Cranberry sauce for two was about 1/3 cup! 3 smaller slices of white meat. Although reservation made early for Thanksgiving we were seated in the overall room which looked like the breakfast room!
