Since opening its doors in late 2015 in the enchanting neighborhood of South Park, San
Diego, KINDRED has garnered recognition which transcends its plant-based credo,

Diego's and San Diego Magazine's Restaurant Of The Year, topped Zagat San Diego's
Most Important Restaurant Openings, and earned an Orchid Award for interior

Best vegan food with super friendly staff! Everything on the menu is very flavorful and fresh- one tiny caveat is the coffee at breakfast is not so great - so skip it and have one of their amazing mocktails with your brunch! The cocktails and dinner menu are fantastic.

Great as always. The food is phenomenal (hard not to get the eggroll burger everytime though!), service is quick and friendly and drinks are top notch. Always happy to come back.

Kindred is beautiful inside, the food was delicious. Shared every thing, the carrots, chimchurri skewers, the burger with broccoli delicious. Make a reservation and bring some patience, they aren’t in a hurry and I wouldn’t go here in one.

Terrible food! Tiny portions. The charred carrots were literally burned and lacking flavor. The skewers contained about an ounce of impossible burger meet and were very bland.

We took our adult son to dinner there for his birthday. Fun atmosphere and decor. Very cool hip vibe. The cocktails and food were excellent. There were five in our party and so we shared the mushrooms and knots. Both were very good and we would order them again. We were all happy with our meals especially the tomato soup, the grain bowl (Warlock) and the eggroll burger. The caesar's salad was fresh and flavorful. Only one in our party was vegan and we all enjoyed the vegan food. The only issues were we had a reservation and was seated about 20-30 minutes later than our reservation. We hung out at the bar and enjoyed their yummy cocktails but even those took a while to receive. Overall the service was slow, but the rest of the experience was so good, we will return.

great drinks and tasty food. last night was just very loud, maybe because of the incoming rain and the weather panels were down, the noise levels were just high. otherwise, decent night for a quick drink :)

This place is the best vegan restaurant/bar in San Diego! The food is incredible and the drink selection is so good! Whenever I want to impress someone, this is the first place I think of bringing them. Take it from a regular, the doom bloom will not disappoint if you’re even the slightest bit into mushrooms!

I’d been wanting to go to KINDRED for years and finally made it for a lovely late dinner with drinks. The carbonara was stellar, along with the cosmo knots and Caesar and the drinks were solid! Can’t wait to go back.

What a fun discovery while in San Diego! Who knew that vegan could be so delicious? Brunch menu was fab - must have the Serpentine cocktail. Now I'll have to go back for the incredible cocktail menu and dinner/late night snacks. Service impeccable and groovy light heavy metal music. Unique vibe, low key, totally cool without being pretentious. Good job, Kindred.

The music was a bit loud and not our taste, but the food is excellent and well worth it. Service was a bit slow. The place was not packed, but it took quite a while to get our food. The BBQ skewer is phenomenal.

There was a section to list the special occasion for our reservation. It was both an anniversary and birthday for us. Neither one of these special events was acknowledged. Don’t know why you would ask this question if not to make someone feel special about choosing their restaurant to celebrate

Loved our food and our drinks. Definitely try the egg roll burger, cosmo knots, kefta, and mind melt! Palace of certainty, gloom coil, and time wave were fantastic. Would definitely give snow bird a try next time. Ambiance is good, cool space, and our waitress was very attentive and nice. It’s a little loud at times.

Pretty limited gluten free options for someone with Celiac. Everything was basically in a shared fryer so I had two items to choose from for the brunch that runs until 2 on Sunday. For a place that fixates on vegan and vegetarian I would have expected healthier and fresher options. Plenty of ways to make dishes taste good without dumping into a deep fryer. If you’re vegan and gluten free, you’re kinda screwed.

Server was in the serious weeds. Food took a very long time to arrive and when it did, was cold. Server never offered apology for the delays experienced. Hope to see improvements in service as place feels great and the food menu is good. Service has to support the culinary experience.

The vibe and the food at kindred are great. The music is loud, usually metal of some kind, so know that going in. The food is delicious, creative, and comes along with some excellent cocktails. The beer and wine offerings are good but limited. The servers are excellent, but this is a leisurely paced dining experience. Plan on being there for a while. Have a second cocktail. You won’t regret it.

Love the food at Kindred, but it was clear the kitchen was busy. Server did ask if it was okay to bring food as it came up which we agreed to. Not sure we had a choice. Not the server's fault. But some of the dishes did seem lukewarm and kind of rushed. Noise level is far beyond energetic. I think you could easily turn the music down a little bit. Especially as we were there early, 5:45 reservation so crank it up later in the evening. Food was still good. My classic gin martini was perfect!

The food was not what I expected, very disappointed with the brunch menu, not many choices for my tastes. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, it was ordinary and not very tasteful. The coffee had no flavor and the oat cream did not make it better. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This place ALWAYS delivers! FULL of flavors, SUPER vibey, friendly, stylish and hard working staff… VERY little to critique, especially on a packed Friday night! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Hostess was super sweet and accommodating too! VERY sweet when I asked to switch tables, which I know can be annoying when a full house. All around, Kindeed is high performance SD dining, AND it’s bomb vegan! Can’t go wrong 🙏🏼

The food was phenomenal and creative. We’ll definitely return. Their drink menu was excellent as well. Weather place can be loud, so keep that in mind. Other than that, the ambience was great.

I love this place. The service tends to be a bit slow, and they’re often out of items on the menu. I still really enjoy it here. The staff is usually very friendly.

Kindred is awesome I frequent regularly in the evenings. This was my first brunch however. We waited far too long for our food from ordering, my item came at 45 min, the other items after an hour. It wasn’t super busy so I imagine that they’re just not very good at brunch.

We love this restaurant, but be warned that if you go on a Saturday night, the service will be quite slow. They're busy and often understaffed, so it took us an hour and a half to get our food last weekend after we were seated for an 8:15 reservation. I don't blame the staff one bit for this, just fair warning to anyone who needs to be somewhere after dinner on a weekend!

I reserved 2 hours before a comedy show for my birthday and the wait for the food was extremely long to where we had to leave with only eating appetizers. Despite me telling the waiter that we had to leave at a specific time. We paid for a meal we did not receive either but could not find the waiter. The food is great, but expect to wait over 3 hours for food which is not ideal. And this also was under a reservation.
