Equal parts evil lair and Victorian cocktail salon, KINDRED has transfixed and beguiled

Since opening its doors in late 2015 in the enchanting neighborhood of South Park, San
Diego, KINDRED has garnered recognition which transcends its plant-based credo,
heralded as one of the city's premier dining institutions. It has been named EATER San
Diego's and San Diego Magazine's Restaurant Of The Year, topped Zagat San Diego's
Most Important Restaurant Openings, and earned an Orchid Award for interior
design from the San Diego Architectural Foundation. KINDRED was also named within the Food Network's list of the best vegan restaurants in the country, was voted the Best Vegan Bar in the U.S. by VegNews magazine, and received regional honors from the Tales Of The Cocktail Foundation for Best Restaurant Bar in the West.

If goth decor and metal music are your style, check out Kindred. They were lovely. The food and drinks were tasty and creative, but the metal music playing on the sound system was not really our cup of tea. We were on the patio so the volume of the music wasn't too bad, but it did kind of signal to us that this is probably not the place for us. Folks who are cooler and hipper than us would probably like it fine. The drink menu alone is worth checking out, and the charred greens dish was quite yummy. So check it out, but if you're an old fogey like me, be ready to be challenged a bit.

Fantastic meal with my wife for her birthday. She recently changed her diet to more plant based. We brought our moms who had never had vegan cuisine and they loved it too!

Hands down one of the best meals we’ve ever had (and we aren’t vegan). Fresh, innovative, perfectly seasoned and scrumptious. Please open in other cities, Scottsdale being the first!

I love kindred so much. I love the vibe, the ambiance, and the food! Yes, it’s expensive but we go for special occasions only cos it’s a special place. It makes me happy to see a vegan establishment thriving. Probably my favorite restaurant in San Diego!!

We went to celebrate Mother’s Day and everybody was pleasantly surprised by their vegan dishes. My son and I got the mine melts with a sausage patty, which were delicious and my husband loved his biscuits and gravy me. My husband wasn’t so sure about going to a vegan restaurant for brunch, but he now wants to go back and try their dinner menu And loved his dish. Definitely worth a trip if you’ve never been here the decor is fun.

Best vegan food with super friendly staff! Everything on the menu is very flavorful and fresh- one tiny caveat is the coffee at breakfast is not so great - so skip it and have one of their amazing mocktails with your brunch! The cocktails and dinner menu are fantastic.
