Opened in 2016, this Uptown Mexican eatery continues to gather accolades, including a spot on The New York Times' recommendations "36 hours in Chicago" and four straight years of being a MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand restaurant right up to the present.

An immersive experience of Oaxacan cuisine featuring layudas (a.k.a. Mexican pizza), tamales oaxaqueños, enchiladas de mole, cornish hen and tacos de birria just to name a few. Their selection of margaritas made with homemade agua frescas with no artificial syrups and mimosas on the weekends is a must! Diners know to leave room too for the Oaxacan nicuatole (a flavored flan) and tres leches cake.

Kie-Gol-Lanee comes from the Zapotec dialect meaning "Piedra Antigua" (old stone). Its Spanish version "Quiegolani" is the name of a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico, where the owners and siblings are from. Maria and Reynel Mendoza run this operation with their spouses, Leo and Sandra, whose mission is to preserve their family’s original recipes.

The food was delicious! It was crowded on Mother’s Day, but the noise level was mid level where you could have a nice conversation with everyone around the table. All staff was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend, you try this place.

The music was too loud for us to enjoy our conversation. It felt like being in a club but full of families celebrating Mother's Day. Pretty good food. Excellent service. Mismatched vibes.

Unbelievable value for the money. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Chicago, and one of the few Oaxacan. Not hard to believe they've win a Michelin award.

The refried black bean that they give you with chips is amazing. The tlayudus (sp?) is a killer dish. Lots of food fresh with chewy cheese and avocados and tomatoes. The stuffed pork chop is also amazing. Thick and moist and sooo flavorful. The margaritas are okay. They don't use enough agave for me. Service is outstanding. It's now one of my favorite Mexican places.

Awesome brunch on Cinco de Mayo, food was amazing, the whole family was in agreement that we need to come back again to try more. Nice variety of tequila and mezcal along with other cocktails and non-alcoholic options.

This was a first time dining experience for a birthday celebration. We originally planned to dine at 12:30pm, but we were running ahead so called to see if we could get in early at 11:40am, which they accommodated. It was fairly busy, but there were a few open tables. We were seated quickly and given water and tortilla chips and bean dip, but ordering took a bit longer than expected. Ahead of arriving I had asked if we could order off the dinner menu because some of the dishes looked more interesting than the brunch menu. Really I wish more restaurants would accommodate this request. Three of us ordered dinner items and one ordered breakfast. To start we shared a red mole chicken tamale and an elote soup. For entrees we ordered the chuletas de puerco (stuffed pork chop), bacalao blanco (cod), a special red snapper, and the chile poblano relleno. Everything was really fantastic. Really the only complaint was the initial delay in ordering. Service was very friendly, accommodating, and informative. Nice, quaint ambience. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!

We’ve been there for dinner many times, but it was the first time for brunch. Food was delectable, service was excellent, and the place is very cute.
