With a kitchen led by Michelin-award-winning Chef and co-owner Sammy Monsour (formerly of LA’s Preux & Proper), the menu centers around soulful Southern fare with an emphasis on sustainable seafood, offering an extensive raw bar program and selection of fine American caviars.

Complementing the bright flavors, Monsour adds rich, comforting depth with dishes like the Cornmeal Crusted Nashville Hot Catfish and Hickory Smoked Tomahawk Pork Chop. Beverage Director and co-owner, Kassady Wiggins designs a zero-landfill cocktail program that is well balanced and climate conscious. The drinks are the perfect blend of new and familiar, while bringing Southern flavors to each glass with cocktails like the Hootie Hoo and Mother of Pearl Martini.

Teaming up with Founders and Operators, Prince and Athena Riley, Joyce is named after their daughter and her grandmother. The restaurant embodies family, connection, and seeks to bring joy to guests through shared dining experiences.

    The food was really good although the chicken was over cooked. I love that all the ingredients are fresh and the ambience is nice. The shrimp and grits fried green tomatoes and cornbread were my favorites and others loved the Mac n cheese and greens which seemed to have more of a roux base instead of a light broth which was a fan to some and not others. Unfortunately I think they didn’t have enough servers for Sunday brunch so service was slow but otherwise it was an enjoyable visit and I will return!

    Tasty and fun food! Not sure I’d want this for brunch on a regular basis but a great splurge - cornbread especially delicious. Way way too noisy inside - service outside was terribly slow - however server and manager were very kind. Portions are great for sharing - we sampled 5 items across 3 hungry diners and had room for beignets - all very tasty!

    Chef Sammy Monsour creates the most stunning flavours. We started with a seafood sampler platter. Ceviche with a vinegar hit. Scallops on the half shell were sweet and fruity. Jumbo prawns. Oysters. So fresh and delicious. Following that we did the cornbread and the duck confit. I don’t think I’ve ever loved confit more. The depth of that flavour is charred into my senses. Sublime. After that was hot honey glazed pork belly which was cooked to crisp meaty perfection, with a glaze so perfect you are left lip smacking. And there was the charred Spanish octopus. Beautiful. Every bite of every dish was masterful. These are all share plates, we were both very satisfied with the portions. Fernando started with a hootie hoo cocktail; smoky mezcal deliciousness. I had the punk evans, Perfection. The watermelon ice cubes were a delicious transition from fish course to meat. Sadly service was not great. Fernando pointed out they may be down a person. Hopefully that is the case. Otherwise this was a perfect culinary journey. J & F

    I went for brunch with a friend. I had shrimp & grits, and my friend had fried chicken and waffles; both were outstanding!

    This is a truly lovely, comfortable environment with the friendliest, most respectful staff in town! The cornbread, catfish and spinach salad were excellent; the pork belly a little too spicy and served in a very small dish which made for awkward sharing. The blueberry cobbler is not a cobbler at all; rather dry muffin at best. Not enough dairy-free options on the menu for the lactose intolerant (70% of African Americans are thought to have this allergy). Lanee, our server, was excellent, attentive and knowledgably guided us through the menu options.

    We ordered 5 different plates and it was ALL bad. Please don’t go here, there are so many other better places to eat in DTLA.
