Josephine is the latest concept from James Beard nominated Chef Michael Scelfo of smash hits Alden & Harlow, Waypoint, and The Longfellow Bar.

Josephine is a celebration of family and food, focused on Italian favorites and simple pleasures.

Josephine features deep dish & thin wood fired pizzas and whimsical riffs on classic Italian foods, all set in a lively space. A massive marble bar with craft cocktails, ice cold martinis on tap, and a huge out door space that's dog friendly with an outdoor bar and fire pit will bring you back again and again.

The food was very good - with enormous portions - and there is a long cocktail Lolita to choose from. The hash browns were a delicious side, and I ended up filling up in those and then couldn’t eat most of my meal. Others in my party got the chicken parm, which they enjoyed and had plenty of leftovers to take home. Now the bad parts: the indoor part of the restaurant is very LOUD, we could not hear each other talk and asked to move outdoors. The service was very friendly but painfully slow. Two of our five entrees came out and it was 15 minutes before the next two came out, then another 20 minutes before the last one came out, which meant the first two (who we told to go ahead and start) were finished before the last person even got their food. We were expecting an apology and maybe even a free appetizer or cocktail but we got neither. I probably wouldn’t go back.

I made an early Mother’s Day celebration dinner reservation weeks in advance, which turned out to coincide with Porch Fest. While it was extremely busy and loud, the staff at Josephine were prepared to handle the crowds. Our table was ready on time and both the service and food were excellent. Thank you!

I always enjoy coming to Josephine's. The food and drinks are good and delicious. This time we got the deep dish pizza and it was not as good as we've had it before. It came out a little burnt and not as "deep" as before. It was still good, but the other times we had it was definitely better. Regardless, I recommend this place for its ambience and esthetic and foodis worth it.

This is just for brunch. The food is amazing very unique and lovely to look at. The taste was wonderful too. Service pleasant and no one rushing us out the door. Great atmosphere.

This was my first visit to Josephine but it won’t be my last. This restaurant serves delicious food and cocktails in a casual and comfortable atmosphere. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Our group of 4 shared 6 dishes and 2 desserts. No one could decide what was the best because they were all great. That being said, the spaghetti with clams and the buratta are bug winners. There are many more menu items we want to try so we will definitely return.

Oscar, who waited on us, was quite simply the best waiter I have ever had, and I have eaten in thousands of restaurants all over the world, including some of the very best in NY, LA, San Francisco, and all over Europe. It was a lovely reminder of what a difference on person can make. Thank you for the lovely dinner.

We arrived when the restaurant opened at 5pm with a reservation for 2. Despite the place being empty the hostess walked us to a table right next to the restroom door and the end of the bar. When asked they moved us a few feet over. A few moments later a family with 2 young children were seated where we were originally placed. The children were screaming and eventually left with one of the adults. We waited 40 minutes for our appetizer. Fried rice ball, that wasn’t anything special. The pizza was pretty good. Chicken parm, nothing special.

Great food and experience. Well executed pizza not soggy you could really taste crust which was well crafted. Fun idea with draft martini not something I’ve seen before.

We enjoyed our meal very much! TBH a bit disappointed with the deep dish pizza, but we LOVED the thin crust mushroom pie. The ceasar was classic, the wedge salad was excellent. The meatballs were excellent and went well with the pizzas. We got the warm foccacia which came in a skillet, but I was a bit disappointed by this as well. Focaccia is usually loaded with EVOO and soft, and this might have been overbaked, it was a bit dry for focaccia, plus overkill with the deep dish which may have been an ordering error on our part. Outstanding dessert - rice pudding, which I would probably never think to order but my friend thought it would be good - we were licking the bowl and fighting over the last bite! Good wines, good drinks, I would come back.

Food was amazing, as were the drinks. Really drink, as I ordered the Napoli which was so good but I ordered a second but never received it but honestly didn’t need it so was for the better anyway. Problem I had was I set a reservation through here and showed up on time and we still had to wait 10 minutes for a table, so no point in setting a reservation as they don’t hold them.

Oscar is knowledgeable and friendly server. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Busy place. Hard to find parking in the area so we used the hotels valet. $15 for restaurant guests. Great evening

The food was delicious but we received very poor service. Our waitress was extremely attentive to the booths seated less than a foot away on either side of us, yet ignored our attempts to get her attention for almost the entirety our meal. Even after the entire section had cleared and we received our check we still had to wait 20 minutes for her to come take our card, when none of her other tables had to wait even 5 minutes to pay when she was much busier. If our server was clearly just extremely busy and unable to check in on anyone frequently I wouldn’t have held it against her, but watching her give excellent service to all of her tables other than us made it difficult to enjoy what was an otherwise pleasant meal.

The Restaurant Week Lunch menu was superlative. It was light enough for lunch and flavorful. The shaved Ham Crostino with melon and the Classic Caesar made great appetizers. The Whole Wheat Bucatini was a generous portion and the chicken/peas/ with herb pesto was satisfying. But the dessert, Torta Caprese stole the show. The flourless chocolate cake with hazelnuts was so good.

We live down the street and can't believe it took us so long to get here. Good portions, good mocktails. A little bit tight in terms of space, we were two people wedged between two other couples dining, which is fine, but definitely would've liked a little more distance. Overall, great meal. We'll be back.

Tables too densely packed together to be able to comfortably converse and eat plus lots of hard surfaces made for very loud experience. Overall food was too salty, not just the salad but also the tuna app, which was dry. Deep dish pizza was intense, yummy but a cheese bomb. Portions are huge which is a plus in some ways though we could have ordered half the amount we did had we known. Chicken parm seemed like four chicken breasts on one plate.

The food was incredible, the drinks were great and the overall experience was very good. Only hang up was how slow things moved, our reservation was at 7 and we were sat until around 730, and drinks took quite a bit to make it to the table after ordering. It did seem like maybe they were a little understaffed for a Saturday night but honestly the host and waiter were very friendly and apologetic and overall the experience was great! Would highly recommend going, we would definitely go again!

We always have the greatest time at Josephine. Drinks and food are fantastic and we really enjoyed the new spring menu. Chanel was a lovely server and really enhanced the overall experience. We'd love to gatekeep this gem, but cannot stop talking about it.

Flatbread and deep dish pizzas were outstanding. Seal of approval from the Chicagoan at the table. Ricotta pancakes, pasta, and hash browns were delicious. Must return to try other brunch options. Cocktails were excellent--especially the blue cheese olive draft dirty martini and spicy margarita.

My fiance (as of earlier that day) and I had a lovely time. Everyone was so excited for us, considerate and hospitable. Overall, we had an amazing experience and loved our time there - highly HIGHY recommend to a friend :-)

Had to wait nearly 40 minutes past our reservation to get seated. The Front of house was not particularly helpful or nice about it. Once we did get seated, the servers were very sweet and took good care of us. Come for deep dish pizza and martinis.

being my second time here i loved it even more than the first time. the food is incredibly delicious, my favorite is the thin crust “i think we’re alone now” pizza. a must try. the service was great we loved Oscar very attentive and polite. over all i give them 4.5 stars only because after waiting almost 45 mins they forget my friends pizza. but overall the restaurant and food is GREAT!!
