When we arrived (at 6.30 pm on a Friday) we were the only customers. One couple came in later and left before us. The food was poor (very overcooked prawns in a seafood linguine) and prices were high.

What a treasure it is to have a neighbourhood restaurant that provides great food, wonderful ambiance and friendly service. And the plus is live music on a couple of nights each week. Please support your Northshore restaurants and avoid the Lions Gate lineups.

Way overpriced Valentine’s set menu. The halibut was overcooked and cold. The steak and turf were of average quality. The dessert was supermarket quality. The appetizer looked unprofessionally done. We will not go there again.

The Valentine's Day dinner at JJ's Kitchen, although on the pricey side, did not disappoint. It was a set menu for the occasion and choice was limited, but the food was excellent and cooked to perfection

Loved JJ’s. We tried five appetizers to get a feel for the place, and all were excellent. I loved the buffalo wings, the mussels, and the calamari. The ambiance is awesome, and we loved the jazz music that was playing (so much better than top-40 rubbish). Oh yes, the fries were nicely cooked and had a good seasoning. On-tap local beer was very good, especially the IPA. Highly recommended.

Things need to be more organized with reservations. I clarified ahead of time -twice- and the staff had no idea about our dietary needs. The food was good but VERY overpriced. Would I go back? Unlikely.

We went during the week in the early evening, it was really quiet and the service was great. There was one waitress working that evening and she was really good. She spent some time and chatted with us. I had the lamb and it was amazingly tender and good. My fiance had the truffle pasta and meatballs, he said it was really quite good, although slightly underseasoned. We split the cheesecake for dessert and that was kind of disappointing, but other than that it was amazing service and good food.

Ambience was the best thing about the restaurant. At $89 for Thanksgiving dinner, at least serve up half-decent food. But that was apparently too much to ask for ... best thing on the plate was the roasted brussel sprouts and saute green beans. What a disaster. Supposing to be the star of the whole plate, the turkey was dry and chewy. A huge disappointment. Following that, the pumpkin pie was not fresh and very clearly nuked in the microwave prior to serving. Couldn't even bother to top it with any cream. Waitress was extremely pushy trying to get us to order the Thanksgiving dinner and was hesitant to show us the regular menu at the beginning, more $$$ for the restaurant. Only brought regular menu when asked three times. Was very tolerant of the pushy, lack of customer focus approach to the poor service and kind to the waitress until she realised she needed to change her approach hoping to make some tips off the meal. Besides the environment, very poor food paired with unappealing service. Won't recommend or return.

Hi Mr Wong, First of all, thank you for your visit. On thanksgiving we had special menu. We cook everything fresh as the orders comes. Since we had the thanksgiving menu we could run regular menu. Its not possible for the kitchen to run regular menu when there is a special menu. We had posted on our website, social media and the flyers that we had the special menu for thanksgiving day. I love to invite you and the family for a dinner or brunch at 50 % off to say thank you for giving it another chance.

We had our pre-wedding meet and greet here and it was fantastic! The food was great and prompt, the service was excellent and staff were so friendly and kind. A great place if you have large groups or just want a beautiful setting with your date.

Went for a brunch for the first time, really quiet and few tables were taken.. sadly our orders were poorly taken and the food came out lacking ingredients and portions. Fr example: we ordered benny's and the eggs came fried and no hollandaise sauce? When we tell our server, he got defensive and tried to blame us for the way we ordered and charged us for the whole order even though was wrong.. would love to come again but not the best experience on a Saturday at noon.

Our food gets cooked as the orders comes and they are place under the lamp passthrough, so there should be no reason for it to be cold. Again I am sorry your food came cold. Great comfort foods (generous portions) served in a nice patio overlooking marina. Nice and calm plus they had live music (dinner time). We had a wonderful meal and will be back

Friendly welcoming atmosphere. We had a wonderful choice of food on the menu to choose from .Staff willing to accommodate dietary requests eg; gluten intolerant. Our food order arrived without delay. Beautiful presentation, hot and delicious. We choose to sit on their deck, just perfect for a very hot evening. We had a solo guitarist & singer such a treat!

The seafood salad did not include any scallops as stated,the 4 prawns were very old frozen ones and mussels were not good.A very small piece of unknown fish was tasteless.The server was obviously new and did know about anything! Also,we received 3 different menus with different items on them and some had different prices-a true “faulty towers”experience!!

Service could be better - was hoping to feel a bit more of an elevated experience while sitting indoors. Menus could be freshly printed and clean, real candles and real greenery instead of fake. Plates weren’t cleared after sitting for awhile, not offered more drinks or coffee… food/brunch was good

I chose to go to JJ's kitchen for dinner on Mother's Day. I didn't expect it to be a huge mistake. I arrived at the restaurant at 7:00 p.m., and there were only 5-6 tables of guests. For a dinner, my husband and I chose mussels and salad as the appetizer. We chose steak and salmon for the dinner. They recommended ordering a pasta for the children. We ordered at 7:15, and no food was served until 7:40. They didn't communicate with the kitchen until we urged. Five minutes later, a child's pasta was served first, and after a while I served a serving of mussels. There may only be about 10 of them in one serving, and more than 6 of them were stale. When I finished eating the mussels, I served the salad, which was so sour that I couldn't swallow it. At eight o'clock, we still didn't eat the staple food. After urging again, the chefs found out that we didn't cook our dinner after seeing the open kitchen. The waiter expressed his apology, but he will bring me dinner soon , and give us a 15% discount. After being busy for just 3-5 minutes, the steak was served. We ordered medium rare, but after the steak was cut, there was almost no 3 medium rare inside, and the salmon was actually undercooked! We immediately said that we didn't eat and needed to pay the bill and leave. After some discussion, they gave a bill without any discount. They just calculated the food we ate according to the unit price and forced us to charge a 15% tip. ! Even when I didn't eat anything, the final bill plus tip charged me more than $90. This is a nightmare Mother's Day!

The restaurants messed up our reservation . I had a reservation for 12 people and they said it was for 2 people, despite several emails confirming the number of people being 12. It took them over 40 mins past the reservation time to give us a table. And then, it was another 30-40 mins before someone took our orders. And then we did not get our orders (from a limited menu with only three items on it!) for another 45 mins. At this point, we gave up and left the restaurant.

I am not usually one to write bad reviews... but I want to help others avoid spending money here and having a bad experience, like we did. It's just not worth it and chances are you'll regret it I went here on Mother's Day for brunch. The venue is nice and decor is pretty, it has so much promise but this place needs some serious help with better management and training for servers. They were not offering their regular menu (which they did not tell me on the phone when I reserved). They had 2 options only: eggs benedict or waffles. No healthy low carb/GF options. They were charging $36 for their eggs benedict ($17-$19 on regular menu), $30 for waffles ($19 on regular menu). It was a total rip off for the experience and food that we got! Service was very slow and completely chaotic. Servers were yelling at each other across the bar area for orders. You could tell some servers knew what they were doing and tried their best, but were really frustrated by the lack of coordination and proper leadership. It was awkward to watch. When the meals came out, items were missing. The sausages that came with the eggs benedict plates were forgotten; when they were brought out, half were pale and others were dark and dried out (sitting under the heat lamp for a while maybe?) The food was okay - 3/5. NOT worth $36! Waffles were dry and needed extra extra syrup and cream to make them edible. The drinks were pretty good, I will say that! Points to the bartender! I have since read previous reviews on Google and the owner seems to respond to negative reviews defensively, calling the reviews fake or lies, telling the reviewer they have anger problems. As I said, this place has a promising location and is really nice inside. But management need to think about why they're getting so many bad reviews and make some major changes. This place could be amazing! For now, I will be spending my money at the many other great restaurants on the North Shore - so, so many to choose from.

Took over 2 hours to receive our food. Americano was $7.50. They were apologetic and comped some things after we got upset but that didn’t make up for the poor experience. Would not recommend ever.

Decent food, but overpriced. Nice furnishings and ok location. Terribly managed. Staff were doing their best, but were set up for failure. We will not be going back. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived. 20 min after our reservation time, the table was finally ready, but when we were seated the table was too small for our group size. The restaurant wasn't busy either as only two tables were seated and we were the only group waiting. No bartender on duty so our poor server was tending bar too. Seemed to be all staff were wearing multiple hats due to understaffing. Drinks came out at vastly different times and some of our food (meat) wasn't cooked. They also had a special menu for mothers day which was literally just eggs Benedict three ways or "waffles for the table" (which our server didnt know what that meant). I understand having a set menu on a busy day like mothers day, but having one item is ridiculous.

Great service on a quiet evening. Lamb shanks were on point and the presentation was excellent. Small issue was quickly taken care of and handled personally by the chef. Really good service. Will try to make it out again.

Food was alright. Service was abysmal. Water was never refilled. Server barely attended our table, seemed to be more interested with other tables. Pricing was also a scam, no indication of price anywhere.

The set menu was not mentioned on OpenTable Added up the 3 most expensive items from the app, main, dessert menu are about $100.. the price was $150. Clearly a money grab. Upon looking at the google reviews after and the responses from the owner I understand why this happened. I will never go back and don’t think it will be around for long due to a lack of morals and poor leadership..

Our favourite appetizer was just so-so this time. They said they only had one order of mussels left, so we decided to share them. The mussels were chewy and ‘past their best before date’ I think. We left one for the chef to try, but he said it was fine. Our seafood linguini was excellent as usual however. I’m sure it was the end of a batch of mussels. Will still keep going to the place for our special occasions. Service was excellent.

We have enjoyed JJ’s in the past and we’re excited to go for Christmas Eve. However we were let down this time. It was a set menu that was extremely overpriced compared to their usual menu. Their Christmas meal didn’t come close to their steak and seafood platter which we would have ordered. We were still hungry after the meal and ended up going to another resteraunt to have more to eat.

Very noisy. Little soft furnishings to absorb noise. Music inaudible and adding to the din. Cold entering from door to patio which was left open on a number of occasions. Food was very good but not able to communicate with guest.

An interesting menu but even though it is limited, the first 2 items I ordered were not available. The server, a new Canadian, showed no understanding of the wine list and did not even know what the kitchen was short of. She tried to win the day with lots of smiles and nods - A for effort and F for job readiness. Met the owner, a friendly and engaging lady who said she was there because her manager never showed up. This restaurant needs to step up its staff training to play the game of a fine dining restaurant in West Vancouver. Staff must know what the kitchen is serving, and confidently walk people through their menu choices. Prices are high as were our expectations - no rush to return.
