Housed in a glorious Southern mansion in the heart of Music City, Jimmy Kelly’s continues to be the standard by which all American steakhouses are measured. Founded in 1934 while the country was in the throes of the Great Depression and just one year removed from the repeal of prohibition, Jimmy Kelly made a promise to himself and his diners. Simply put, he would serve a great steak, a generous portion of whiskey and insure the service was always attentive. Making good on that promise has been the cornerstone of the restaurant’s success and enabled it to survive and flourish. Now over 80 years later and operated by the third generation of Kellys, it has earned a reputation as one of the grand old restaurants not only in Nashville but the entire southeast. New owner is doing a pretty good job with this Nashville classic steak house. Steaks, filet and what was described as an American take on waygu beef, were both good and properly cooked. Nice to compare the subtle difference. Lots of toppings for meat- tried peppercorn. Very punchy. Could dominate meat if overused. Wedge salad was cold, crisp and fresh. Potato arrived room temperature. 2nd one arrived hot. Nice house Sauvignon blanc (yes, I drink white with red meat). Corn cake recipe has changed from a crispy edged cake (sinfully fatty, especially when buttered) to more of a sweet pancake style. I asked for a refill, but it never arrived. I understand the sea bass is popular and maybe one day I’ll try it. Service was overall good, but not great- 4.5 stars. Miss the old corn cakes.

My husband and I had a good meal at Jimmy Kelly’s, but could have been better. Food was a little bland and needed more flavor. Our favorite items we got were the mashed potatoes and Reese’s cheesecake.

My wife and I had an amazing meal, service was great and the wine fantastic. Next time I am in Nashville a stop in is a must.

Karla was amazing!! We will ask for her by name when we go back! She took service to the next level. Also Miss Rae came and introduced herself and was very friendly and made us feel so welcome! There is a new chef there and it was definitely noticed! The food was fantastic! We had a five star experience! We will be back!

Our meals were excellent! The steaks were done to perfection, filet, ribeyes And the cowboy!!! The sides were so good and paired well with our steaks. We chose the Kate potatoes, creamed spinach and Caesar salads with recommendations from our excellent waiter Jeff! He was the best!!! And then an excellent chocolate raspberry cake we shared as we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday! Thank you for an amazing evening!!!

For a Friday night it was extremely quiet! which in turn made it have no atmosphere. Staff were friendly but a bit rushy when ordering. It was very expensive, and to be honest the food wasn't that great..... the calamari was greasy and a bit chewy, and my steak was also tough. We have been to better restaurants to be honest and was very disappointed - we wouldn't go again.
