Jeffrey's Restaurant & Bar est une institution culinaire de Austin depuis 1975. En 2012, le restaurant a fermé ses portes pour une rénovation majeure et a rouvert sous la direction du groupe de restauration haut de gamme de Austin, McGuire Moorman Hospitality. Le restaurant, niché dans un quartier calme à l'ouest du centre-ville dispose d'un bar animé, de trois salles à manger et des menus sur lesquels figurent des steaks vieillis à sec, des classiques réinterprétés et des produits locaux. Une salle à manger privée, un service de voiturier gratuit et un service de location de voiture et chauffeur sont disponibles. Josephine House sert le dîner, le brunch, le « Happy Hour », le souper et le spécial steak-frites du lundi soir. Le chalet Clarksville dispose d'un petit bar en marbre pour le café ou un cocktail, des tables intimes dans la salle à manger, une terrasse à l'ombre et une pelouse pour se prélasser. Le chef Alex Manley et son équipe préparent un menu quotidien éclectique mettant en vedette les meilleurs produits locaux.

The service was ok, they tried to “time” our courses, but that ended up to long stretches us waiting on our food. The drinks took too long as well.

Avoid getting put at table 64. The table is positioned in cubby just off a ramp between the upper level and lower level dining areas. The table is placed right in front of the cash register and is basically the only thing to enjoy as the full ambience to this fine restaurant. You, however, can be privy to the whispers of the nights service to help with the conversation at the table. The temperature at the table was also very uncomfortable, possibly 76-77 degrees, but it was a humid night in Austin. I bet the cooling of the upper and lower dining areas with the differing pressures held the hot air in the ramp hallway. From time to time we could feel some cool air rolling down from the upper portion of the ramp, no doubt due to the extra work done by the upper dining room. To add to the ambience there must have been a freezer/chiller on the other side of the wall as you can feel and hear the door slamming shut every 2-3 minutes or as frequent as every 60 seconds. The food was on level with most of the other fine dining establishments. For the entrées, when asking for medium you will probably get medium-rare. I don't think it is uncommon for most high end steak entrées, but why ask? The 6oz filet was excellent and cooked medium-rare as requested. The lamb chops tasted very good but was cooked to medium-rare and not medium. The dry aged steaked tasted very good for the most part. A few knife/fork cuts I tasted the very slight hint of the rancid portion of the outside which is would be shaved off the hulk. I have tasted this before at most restaurants, which dry aged is offered, and I think I need to stop ordering the aged steaks from anywhere, since I obviously don't know what I'm asking for. So yeah the dry aged steaks offer the most flavor and by the way it was medium-rare and not medium. The other parts of the restaurant looked great and seems the other patrons were enjoying the experience. How did we qualify for being seated at this table?Recommended with a caveat.

It started off well. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary, going to Josephine's first to enjoy a bottle of champagne at the bar. The bartender walked us with our bottle and glasses down the sidewalk and handed us off to David, who walked us inside and put our champagne on ice while they were getting our table ready. The restaurant is elegant and cozy and our table was in a perfect spot with a happy anniversary card sitting on display. Our waiter Christopher was very knowledgeable and attentive. We made our selections and our wine was decanted and placed on the table and we began to enjoy it with our appetizers and salad. When Christopher came back to check on us and was taking away a plate, he knocked the decanter over and spilled what was nearly 1/3 of the red wine directly onto my husband’s chest and lap. He was calm about it and said, “I’m cool” while Christopher attempted to clean up. He went and got some extra napkins and laid them in front of my husband on the wine soaked table cloth, and offered to move us to another table, which my husband declined, since we were settled. Christopher said he wouldn't push, and placed the plates back in front of us, with wine still splattered on the rim of the plates. Nothing more was said. No manager came over to apologize, there was no offer to bring fresh plates, replenish the wine, cover dry cleaning or do anything else after the attempt to move us. The couples at the table next to us even commented on how gracefully my husband had handled the situation and how they were surprised the restaurant hadn't done more. Then when the bill came they hadn't taken anything off at all, except the normal half off on the $210 bottle of wine, which is standard on Sundays. Our bill was $420 before tip, to which we even added a generous 35% tip. It’s not about the money, and accidents happen. But its about the gesture and how we left feeling about our experience. I expected better from a restaurant of this caliber.

Outstanding! Our food was so delicious! We had the Crab and Sesame Begneigts, Bibb Salad, Alaskan Halibut, Black Angus Filet Mignon, Broccoli, Pomme Puree, and for Dessert we had the Baked Alaska. Everything was so good! The dessert...wow! The only downside I had, was that the room was pretty loud when we got there, and you are seated fairly close to other tables, so it was a little hard to hear my husband across the table at times. But it wasn't anything super crazy. We still had a great time and will be back again for the next celebration.

We needed an adult evening after a week of graduation events, and Jeffrey’s didn’t fail. We started in the lounge were we received exceptional service and excellent cocktails. My martini was perfect! The dining room service and food was superb. Thank you for “about last night”!

The food and the waiter were terrific. The hostess was terrible. We arrived a little early so they sat us in a hallway for 20 minutes while they seated 4 groups that came in after us. I am not sure we will return the staff was a little uppity and acted as though they did not want to be bothered. Just be aware of this before you go.

We had a wonderful experience at Jeffrey’s celebrating our wedding anniversary! The food was incredible and our service was outstanding. The Wagyu steak was done to perfection. I highly recommend Jeffrey’s for your fine dining.
