We don't take ourselves too seriously at Jax Fish House. Two things we do take seriously? The freshness and sustainability of our seafood. You know fresh fish when you see, smell, and taste it-and thanks to modern delivery technology, we bring in that freshy-fresh seven days a week. Sustainability is a little more complicated. Not all commercial fisheries are created equal. That's why we work closely with our suppliers and science-based organizations to ensure that every single thing we serve is responsibly sourced. We consider the stocks of the species we source to prevent overfishing and we work with suppliers who harvest in ways that have minimal impacts on marine environments.

Much improved from 2 years ago. Service was excellent. 1/2 off selected wines Tuesday through Thursday nice touch, but quality of those on this list really needs improvement. Full wine list much improved although the mark ups are quite high. Fritter appetizer was a bit burnt.

We had a delicious meal yesterday at Jax. Our waiter, John, was friendly and helpful, answering questions and offering suggestions. He was attentive but not hovering. The happy hour oysters were great! We ordered the Alaskan Halibut which was delicious, as was everything that came with it. We also had the tuna poke bowl and that was really good as well. It was happy hour and the restaurant was not full but busy; not loud at all. Side note-- it did not smell fishy at all, which is a deal breaker for me! It was very enjoyable and we will be back again and again!

Peel and eat shrimp and langoustines were dirty- the veins were left in/ intestinal tract. You will be required to clean it yourself before eating! Service was outstanding. Good for drinks and regular hot food. We had the raw food platters which are always a risky choice.

Monday night, Happy Hour, so Full house, but fast, personable service and with smiles. I ordered a martini and delivered in under 3 minutes - ice cold and perfect. 2 dozen oysters split by the table - clean, fresh, & well prepped. Wedge and Cesar salads followed quickly after oysters, both nicely presented and again perfect. Sancerre S. Blanc for our wine quickly delivered and chilled just as I like it. Overall, zero complaints and many compliments from our table.

I will NOT be coming back. I took my mom here for Mother's Day yesterday and was extremely embarrassed to have done so by the end of the night. The service was a D+ at best. I will give y'all the highlights: we were never brought or asked if we wanted water although all other tables had some. We ordered bread with our appetizers, AS SUGGESTED BY THE MENU, and received it almost 45 minutes later. My mom and I went ahead and finished our apps and waited for almost ten minutes for our table to be cleared. The server didn't know the menu very well, I was asked to point out the food I wanted...I had to ask for bread three times and when we finally got it after our entree's arrived our server said to us "Here. You got the last of the bread." Martini's were ordered initially and once finished we expected to be asked for another drink, we waited almost 20 minutes, put our drinks on the edge of the table, our server passed by a few times and didn't even notice...we had to flag down the bartender because our server was so inattentive. I ordered an entree with broth in it, implying that a spoon would be required to enjoy it...I had to ask to have a spoon brought to me. On that same note, the host asked us how our food was before our server did, in fact he never asked us how it was. The host also cleared our table because our server was so slow. Maybe he was too busy dealing with his poor attitude. The individual who I think was the manager, seemed so aloof. She spent most of her time standing around instead of engaging with customers. Had the manager done their job, the night might have been saved. Alas, saving the night was up to my mom and I. We kept joking that this was the server's first day and we tried to salvage what we could from the crappy night by laughing it off. I gave a 20% tip and after walking out I really wish I hadn't cause that was significantly more than the server deserved. $264.82 for one of the worst meal experiences I have ever had in CO Springs.
