I hate to say that I am very unlikely to go back to Xavier’s. I understand it may be considered fine dining. But I paid $34 for a steak quesadilla that was so small and barely had enough cheese. I would have gotten a better quesadilla at my neighborhood Mexican place for half the price. Service was descent. But the churros- so sad. Not even crispy. However, the ice cream that came with it was good.

Everything was spectacular! I wanted to bottle up the salsa and take it home, the carne asada was so flavorful and perfect with the creamy guac. My advice, eat the queso fundido before its has a chance to cool, I mean I still ate it.. because, QUESO FUNDIDO - duh. Drinks were spot on and the bill was as to be expected. I will be back!

I made reservations for 6:30 and arrived early anticipating a busy Friday night. We were finally seated after 7…….the hostesses were very RUDE and made it clear they could have cared less about us or anyone else waiting. They were unprofessional and overwhelmed…..their response to the crowd was that of an ill trained staff. Usually, we are seated immediately and the staff has always been happy and efficient. Sadly, I will hesitate to return. What has happened here?????

We made a reservation for 630p but even though we arrived 5 minutes BEFORE our reservation, we still had to wait another 45 minutes. The hostess was really rude. The food was good, and the ambiance is loud and fun, but the attitude of the hostess and the additional wait made the evening less than enjoyable.

We had a 9:30 reservation. We checked in at 9:32. The hostess told us it would be a few minutes. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. She let other people in before us, even though we were standing right next to the hostess desk. At one point she said just a few more minutes but then forgot about us. I do not make reservations so I can stand in my heels waiting for a seat.

Restaurant is beautiful Food is good Ambiance is great to get together with friends Service is ok The hostess people not friendly or welcoming them seems to be lost sometimes Definitely 1 star for letting you wait until your party is together to give you a table. Even if you already reserved. If you go to other restaurants in Del Mar they will give you your table right away and the employees are very polite and friendly.

Javier’s was a lovely restaurant. The setting is quite beautiful. Delightful menu. I would highly recommend the steak, and enchilada seafood trio. Then the tres leches cake to top it off. Valet parking is right out front so you don’t have to deal with mall parking.

Very expensive. We were also celebrating a birthday and no desert offered. For the amount we paid and service was subpar.

Really nice expect our table wasn’t ready for a while. Crowded bar but to be expected on a Sat night. Where they ended up seating us was perfect.

Margaritas were watery, food is not memorable. Staff was very concerned about turning tables and hostess was uninterested in providing directions on how to find the restaurant given poor signage and construction blocking visitors from a direct route. She did tell me she would be giving away our table if we were 15 minutes late, in spite of my call for help and to let her know we might be late since we were lost. Just an overpriced mall restaurant.

Great food and location as always. We went at an odd hour. Our server sort of disappeared and we had to ask for a couple of things twice. But overall this place doesn’t disappoint which is why we keep returning!

We had a reservation for 8:30pm, wasn’t seated until 9pm. The noise level was sooo loud, it felt like I was in a club. I think this was mainly because of the super loud music so everyone was trying to talk over it.

Made reservation in advance for a family birthday celebration, as have previously had delicious food and great service at this location. Front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. We had a 7:00 reservation, and arrived at 6:30 to check in. Staff said we had to wait til our entire party arrived to be seated. Five of us were ready at 6:55, still refused to seat us, even with a young child who really needed to sit down. Last guest arrived at 7:10, however we were forced to wait until 7:40 to be seated. I was livid, and the over hour wait really put a damper on our celebration.

We unfortunately found a hair in our food we lost out appetite don’t think we will come back which was our very first time coming here. The restaurant it self and beautiful and amazing service from the servers!

While can be difficult to locate as there is no or small signage, alimg with very poor directions on tje locators throught the mall, it might be worth the hassle. Service was great, but they do not sing hapoy birthday, so be mindful. Overall, will return.

Javier’s is by far the best Mexican restaurant in all of San Diego! They are excellent at every aspect from the food, service and ambiance the only con against them is that it’s a bit on the high priced for Mexican food. Regardless of the price the place is outstanding. On busy times it can be very noisy.

Our daughter has celiac disease so she's not just gluten intolerant but can't have any cross contamination either. Javier's ALWAYS goes above and beyond for her. Each time we've dined there our server has offered to make her GF tortilla chips (she can't have anything that was fried in the same fryer/oil as gluten items due to cross contamination) and always tells us the wait will be about 20 minutes. During this last visit we took them up on the offer for the first time. Not only did it take less than 20 minutes, the chips were perfect. It absolutely made her entire week. We do visit often and every time we're just as impressed with the service and the food.

Service was poor. Sat at the table for over 25 minutes before placing our drink order. We had to flag a waiter over for this to happen. We were seated at a corner table on the patio, so it was easy to be overlooked and also was hard to catch a waiter’s eye.

Our server, Emily, was super attentive. The drinks and food were very delicious as well. The decor is opulent Mexican and somewhat noisy. Excellent valet car parking made the visit more pleasant. It is very expensive however.
