I had not been here in a while, and dinner on Mother's Day was fabulous. The room is wood clad and pleasant. The service and the food was fabulous. We had the squash blossom appetizer, steak, braised short rib, with asparagus and creamed corn sides. Finished the meal with banana cream pie for dessert. We were even greeted by the owner Suzanne Tracht as she was near the hostess when we arrived. Once you have been here, you realize why Jar has become a Los Angeles institution over the last 20+ years in business.

One of the worst evenings ever. We were a party of 4 and suddenly 40 to 50 college students arrived to celebrate. The noise level was unbelievable. We could not even finish our dinner. When I complained the host did not even offer to comp us a drink or dessert. We are long time patrons but we will not come here again.

One of the best restaurants in Los Angeles with staying power! The room was completely full on a Wednesday night. Of course chef Suzanne Tracht was there, greeting guests, making sure everyone was having a great time. That's the recipe for success: valuing your staff and customers.

Cocktails, gem salad, ribeyes and onion rings were all truly superb. Our waiter was lovely and engaging without being too much. I have never had anything other than an excellent experience here. They know what they are doing at every level. One of my favorite and go-to restaurants in LA.

We loved our server, Chris, who explained in detail the many specials, offered expert guidance on wine and was super attentive all night. EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!!

We come here at least once every month. The food is always amazing and the staff is wonderful. Chris is great at telling us what the specials are which we look forward to every time we come.

Jar is one of our “go to” restaurants in LA. Their cocktail menu is amazing, the servers and staff are professional, and the food is fantastic! We had some incredible dishes on Saturday- the lamb shank (wow!), the halibut, creamed corn, onion rings, and mashed potatoes- amazing! Also, shout out to our server Chris- so nice, knowledgeable, and professional! Thanks for all of the great experiences!

Had heard about this restaurant but never been here. It was a treat from entering the door until the last bite of heavenly chocolate pudding. Waiter was great; food was great- and we will be back soon!

To start this is a restaurant with a small, intimate space. Staff was friendly, but they didn’t stick around to sing happy birthday when they brought out dessert with a candle, never experienced that before. Food was bland.

Yet another yummy & memorable meal. Server Chris was a delight, help staff expedient. Tonight owner chef Suzanne was sadly gone & older man Host very very rude as he doesn’t understand Fed & CA & LA Laws about clearly marked & bibbed Service Animals, esp a 10# tiny CavaPoo that is extremely well-behaved & lies quietly on floor as if not present. Refusing our OT resy nice Dining Room Table several times in an attempt to place us in the empty & barren & unwanted bar corner area was a BIG mistake…luckily he gave in as confronted on his wrongdoing. Missing owner chef Suzanne would have likely been upset with him too…

Hi Billy2013. I understand your frustration and I'm sorry you think the lounge area is "empty and barren". Several of our regulars that come with service animals request that area specifically. I was not trying to disregard your request in any way. I'm sorry if you took that as an affront, that was not the intent. Chef Suzanne was made aware of all the details of your visit as is protocol.

The service is always amazing. The pot roast is delish. The beet salad is yummy. The cocktails are all delightful. And the ambiance is classic and classy. Love this restaurant. It’s my favorite place to bring friends and family visiting Los Angeles.

The food wasn’t that great. The duck fried rice was terrible . The waiter was amazing . However my friend had to have a food remade 3 times. The first two was the skirt steak. She asked for medium well, it was medium rare. We sent it back, the next plate came out cold and we finally ordered the salmon which she raved about. The fries were amazing and but salty but good. The creamy spinach was decadent. We ordered the ice cream, for my friend , they brought out the wrong flavors , we had to send it back . I had the butterscotch pudding it was okay . The whip cream has no flavor at all. The cookies for 10 were not all that, McDonald’s cookies taste better . Personally I wouldn’t go back and I would not recommend. It was really loud and really busy . It’s just a no for me

MrsVee, I'm so sorry your meal wasn't perfect. Kevin made me aware of what was happening at your table as soon as you sent the skirt steak back because it wasn't the right temperature (first time) and I was in constant communication with Kevin the entire time. He assured me that you were happy once we sent out the Salmon. When I looked over at your table several times thereafter, you guys seemed like you were enjoying the food, taking pictures of it and showed no signs of discontent. If I had been aware of the issues with the ice cream, pudding, whipped cream or cookies, I would have made sure we made it right, right then and there. It does get loud here on Friday and Saturday nights when we have a full house. I hope you change your mind and come back.

Valet was faster during the leaving process then the getting there process. Valentine dinner, why ask what level of cooked rib eye do you want if you’re just going to keep bringing it wrong over and over. Well done, no pink…was too difficult for them to understand. I expected much better. I’d say maybe next time, but there probably won’t be a next time.

Although my reservation was for the wrong night, Jar accommodated us. We got the best seat in the house for my hearing problem. The food was delicious. I was only surprised by the cost. It was a prix fixe Valentine's dinner and I failed to find out the cost ahead of time. Our waiter was lovely and only wasn't available on this busy night to pay as close attention as I wanted.

Pot roast was so moist and tender. Steak was delicious too. Service was outstanding. Valet parking cost was on the high side but convenient.
