We have enjoyed Jake's for over 20 years, no more. They have brought in a management company to run the day to day. Say goodbye to a decent bourbon and rye selection, and actual bartenders. Replaced with Bullet, Rittenhouse, Basil Hayden and a nice guy that can tap a beer and pour a wine. The steaks are thinner, the sides to share are ridiculously small and the delicious walley in brown butter with macadamia nuts was replaced with a plain breaded fillet. My fillet Oscar had to be sent back for lack of the Oscar. When it came out there was maybe a tablespoon of bearnaise and barely any crab (not worth the $15 upcharge). No decaf after dinner, not that they were out, but we were told they took it off the menu. The two chocolate desserts were tasteless. The manager came over in a stained T-shirt with a drink in his hand and was very unprofessional. He told us to let go of the past and look forward to the future because it's not going to be how it was. Based on the large number of open seats on the Friday night we were there, I don't think its got much of a future left. The table next to us had been regulars for years as well. They overheard us talking and chimed in with their agreement and disappointment . Sad to lose a good local restaurant.

Had another great meal. Food was amazing. Steak done to perfection. Braised short ribs were so yummy. Loved the Brussel sprouts. Our waiter Jackson was so nice and helpful. Great job. We will be back soon.

Well we finally got in. We had two prior reservations that were cancelled by the restaurant. They are under new management now. A lot of our favorite things were now off the menu. When I did order off the newer menu they were out of at least two items that I wanted. We got there when they first opened, so not sure why they would be out of menu items. Not impressed.

Very disappointing. We used to go to Jake’s all the time. Went on a Friday night and the place was empty. Now I know why. Despite an empty restaurant we were put in a corner under a speaker that had music way too loud. Service was eh. Felt rushed despite no one being there. Had we not asked for the specials we wouldn’t have heard them. Haystack onion rings were limp and had no flavor really. I got the fish fry and it was cold yet overcooked and dry and again no flavor. Potato pancakes were hard as a rock and small. Seemed maybe a bit raw inside. I ordered two new fashioneds and was served two completely different looking and tasting drinks. The person I was with ordered brandy old fashioned sweets and again two completely different drinks were delivered. I asked the waiter about it and he shrugged and said “I guess there’s no fruit”. Well one drink was amber in color and the second was dark brown. We left without getting dessert. I’m in shock they expect to get $97 for a steak. $20 for the puny fish fry I got was way too much. Won’t be back.

Prices were very high. Food was very good, but small portions at a high cost. Restaurant was 1/2 full yet they seated everyone on one side of the restaurant with not enough room for the staff to get between chairs. Service from staff was very good.

The host, bartender and manager Si made our visit enjoyable. But ultimately they were over booked and our server was overwhelmed. We were warned when we were seated our server wasn't happy that they accidentally sat two tables in her section, but assured us we still would have great service. Long story short, salads and bread took forever, a table next to us was seated after us, ordered after us and received their appetizer long before we could get our breads and salads. When salads arrived they came with the wrong dressing, server argued with us and then realized her error. Host noticed we were still waiting for our entrees and when he checked on it, manager brought out brussel sprouts because they were just added. Steaks arrived a little while later and we asked for knives. Waited more as the server had a heated discussion with the host. Eventually she grabbed knives off another table and brought them to us Steaks were more medium than medium rare, but we didn't want to complain and wait all over again. Server checked on us when we're about 1/3 way done with our meal and I said it was fine, steaks weren't cooked right but it was ok. She asked if she could make something right and we had said it was ok. She left and came back shoving her phone in my face saying the kitchen only had the ticked for 39 minutes not the hour I complained about. Not sure where she got that from, but she continued to argue. I asked her to just leave so I could just enjoy the meal with my Mom. She continued, asked her again, ok I told her to just go. It was not a productive conversation. Skipping ahead, when we got our check she added a 20% large party gratuity because we "complained". My Mom was rather upset and the manager came over and sat down for a conversation. He seemed to understand our side. I appreciate, the service of the bartender, the enthusiasm and humor of the host, the empathetic ear of the Si the manager, but if I go back again will avoid the argumentative server.

When we arrived, we immediately were able to sit in the bar area and have a drink before being seated at our table. Once we were done with our drinks, we sat at our table and began our wonderful culinary evening with Priscilla as our host/waitress. The food all came out in record time but smooth enough to enjoy every minute of the ambiance. Yes, a little disappointed in some guests wearing baseball caps or just plain t-shirts. But most other gusts were dressed for this wonderful dining room. We will definitely be back, again, and continue to tell others of our great experience at Jake's!

New management. Don’t go! Waited 40 minutes past our reservation for a table. Then 20 more minutes at our table and no one acknowledged us. We finally left. They have a lot of work to do before they can call themselves a restaurant
