J-Spec is the abbreviation for “Japan-Specification”, a unique phrase created by our team; it is the name of our new restaurant bringing Japanese-standard quality wagyu beef at an affordable price point.

All wagyu at J-Spec are above A5 rank and above 10 BMS (Beef Marbling Value).

Amazing, unfortunately they are closing at the end of the month. It makes me sad, an end of an era….

We tried the tasting menu at J Spec, and throughly enjoyed our experience. The staff and our host was very kind and professional. They also treated us to some extras, and accommodated our dietary restrictions with replacements and substitutions. I would recommend J Spec, and love to visit again.

I have not had Kobe or Wagyu this good since I lived in Japan.

The interior looks great though it is more compact. Service seemed a little rushed but I suppose it was due to Restaurant Week. The food was good but I did feel like the portion of the wagyu for the entree is less than the 60$ value of the set.

Best restaurant for all your wagyu cravings! My ultimate favorite was the Overstuffed Wagyu Sushi (2pc for $24)🥩 - it was flavorful, filled with lots of wagyu, and it also had uni on top 🤗 it was very worth it because a lot of other sushi restaurants charge $20-$25 for only one small wagyu uni handroll that contains a small piece of wagyu, meanwhile J-Spec fills up each piece with a very generous portion of wagyu. Aside from the Overstuffed Wagyu Sushi, the wagyu kebabs ($18 for 2 skewers) was also very delicious- all the pieces literally melted in my mouth 😍 we also ordered the A5 Wagyu Beef/Uni/Caviar sushi for $15/piece - it was definitely high quality and very delicious! We also got the Wagyu Macaron for $20 and assorted sushi set for $65 - both were very yummy but did not hit the spot like the Overstuffed Wagyu, Wagyu Kebabs, and the A5 Wagyu Beef/Uni/Caviar sushi. I also highly recommend the dessert especially the soy milk pudding and matcha tiramisu 🍰 - both desserts really hit the spot! This has become one of my favorite NYC restaurants and I will definitely be coming back often!

J-Spec was an absolutely wonderful experience. We had the tasting menu, which had such wonderful, subtle tastes, from homemade tofu to the most delicate spring roll, delicious sushi and sublime steak. The waitress gave wonderful recommendations for sake and the service was lovely. One of the best nights out we've had in a very long time, followed by a show at the Public Theater. You won't be disappointed!

Quiet and unpretentious. Not about the ambiance but about the excellent food and service. Wouldn't change a thing and would definitely go back.

Thank you to the staff for making this an awesome experience! The food and drinks were amazing. Everything was execellent! I was there for my boyfriend's birthday. He never tried Kobe beef before so this was his first time and he loved it! Thank you also the dessert for his birthday. Overall an amazing experience.
