insideOUT is Hillcrest's elevated restaurant and lounge and San Diego's only urban oasis! We are an 18+ venue.

The menu is curated by Executive Chef Johnny Duran and is updated seasonally to reflect his creative approach to California-Mediterranean inspired fare, using the freshest ingredients provided by our local purveyors.

insideOUT is known for its elevated experiences where guests immerse themselves with our spectacular installations designed and built by our talented team. We provide customized private event planning with venue buy-out options.

Please note: Any outdoor reservations for the Spring Oasis Experience are subject to change due to weather. Be sure to verify your source of confirmation for up-to-date information.

    After being seated promptly, our drink and appetizer orders were taken and delivered quickly. However, we then waited 35 minutes before the waiter returned to take our dinner orders. While the presentation of the food and drinks was beautiful, the salmon was undercooked, and the pork chops were nearly flavorless. At $40 a plate, this is highly unacceptable. For one of the highest-rated restaurants in San Diego, we were extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

    Excellent service. Although we were not there during a “theme” the environment was still delightful. The “Date Night” on Thursdays is a great value. We’re looking forward to returning with friends.

    insideOUT is extremely beautiful! I was so excited to dine there, I even set a calendar event for the exact day my desired dining day would be available, because the tables seem to book up EXTREMELY fast! After having a long-standing reservation, my expectations were very high. When we were seated, we received a really low table, akin to a coffee table, and a bench seat. It was a bit underwhelming, especially since there were numerous 2-top & 4-top tables available. When we saw another table become available, we asked our server if we could move over to a regular table. The server told us that he would have to ask the host. A few moments later the host came over and said, “You would like to move?” My husband responded affirmatively. Rather than move us the table in the same section, we were moved into a virtually closed section that was far away from anyone else. When it came to the food, we were all very pleased with the arrancini and ahi. The kale blueberry salad was to-die-for. My only suggestion would be slightly less dressing; although the dressing was fantastic. After our apps and salad, about 15 minutes passed before our final course was delivered. Unfortunately , the late delivery was only the first point of disappointment. The pork chop was medium-well to well, instead of medium, and it was severely under-seasoned, the green beans were excellent. The stuffing was inedible, as it was less than lukewarm when it was served, so I was not secure about its safety. Because I can never say no to dessert, I indulged in a slice of cheesecake, which was enjoyable.

    Nathan our waiter was very welcoming and very friendly and his service was amazing! Ariel was the sweetest took pictures for us, was so amazing in posing us and doing a count down on ever picture. We really loved the atmosphere and vibe, we came from Arizona and had been trying to come since last October, so worth the wait 😊

    It was my first time here I’ve been wanting to come here and was not disappointed celebrated my birthday with my husband. Food was delicious and service was excellent I will definitely be coming back ❤️

    It was a wonderful dining experience, great ambiance with great food and service! It was well worth booking a reservation in advance for my wife’s birthday 10/10 would go again!

    We had a party of 8 and we all really enjoyed the food. The service was a little lackluster as we found ourselves having to look for our server a lot. It is a busy place and the ambiance is great but 9/10 experience.
