It’s important to impart that this is a prefix menu. At the time of my review, it’s 160 per person or 200 per person depending on the amount of meat. This was never really hidden, but it wasn’t super obvious before booking either.

It’s the ideal place to impress! Atmosphere is very elegant and service is excellent. The food is by far the best shabu shabu and sukiyaki in town from the quality of the meats and vegetables to the extreme detail and focus on the sauces.

This is a place to come on a very special occasion. You should know ahead of time that they specialize in cooking Wagyu beef at the table and that the specialties are delicious, but extremely salty, fat laden, and caloric. It is also pretty expensive at about $200 per person. There are some other options but it is not possible for part of the table to participate without having the rest join in. We really enjoyed the experience but chose this restaurant at more or less the last minute which wasn’t ideal.

We enjoy the food so much. The chef is very good and service was very good, as she is very friendly and the attention she gave was superb. We eat at Ima regularly

Stellar service in person. Over the phone the lady was incredibly rude and not even speaking English properly. Food was okay. I understand it flies from Japan and supposedly is fresh but that should not justify the exuberant price. At least if interior design looked more upscale it would be better ambience but impression of value. Not the case here. Definitely will not be back despite food being interesting.

Terrible!!!! What they serve is not Japanese food. Poor taste, cheap cuts of beef, too little quantity. I have a small stomach, but after eating a full course of $200 at Ima, I went to Lawry’s and enjoyed real beef. This is the first time in my life that I have had two dinners.

Amazing food and service. The environment is exceptional. They also have pasteurized eggs, which to me are important components of sukiyaki. Absolutely worth the price. Loved the experience every second and will definitely go again!

Grace (Yu) the waitress was the epitome of professional in a setting that requires more work than 99% of wait service jobs. The wait staff at this restaurant are the ones essentially doing the cooking for guests on the tabletop and her ability to hold a conversation, be knowledgeable about the product, and properly present the meal simultaneously was impressive. Hope other restaurants can learn from the level of service Ima provides.

The customer service was as heartwarming as if we were in Japan. However, I really felt that it was not worth the $500 price we paid this time. I would have liked to be a little more impressed with the meat.

Food was great. The wagyu beef was top notch, not a knock off. We ordered the course with 4.5oz meat. Thought it'd be too little, but was surprised how stuffed we were with all the other veggies. Service was top notch. I made a mistake when I paid my bill, and gave 10%. In my mind I was thinking I gave 20% percent. Realized after I got back to hotel. Called the restaurant to correct the tip amount and apologize to the waiter, but he had gone home already. Hope my waiter Shun(?) was not too offended because I never meant to disrespect. Just got a little tipsy by the alcohol and good food.

We’ve always been a big fan of sukiyaki and this is by far the best tasting one I’ve been to in LA. The quality of the food and service is fantastic! My wife and I ordered the traditional omakase and it was the perfect portion for us. The appetizers were refreshing, the sake and wine recommendations were smooth and paired well with melt in your mouth wagyu, the sukiyaki base was a perfect mix of sweet and savory, the desserts were all tasty with me wishing to buy a pint of the ice cream they have for me to enjoy at home.

Dan our waiter was AMAZING! He had excellent knowledge of the menu and provide great service. We couldn't have asked for a better waiter. The food was FANTASTIC but you kind of expect that with the price of the items.
