We have enjoyed the Il Fornaio experience in San Diego, Carmel, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Roseville and Sacramento many many times. The reason we return is lovely surroundings, delicious meals, and consistently, friendly, and impeccable service

The food and the service was excellent. I asked for a different table for noise purposes and they easily were able to reseat us which was appreciated.

We have been going to Il Fornaio for more years than I can count. It is a beautiful restaurant which is ordinarily a good value for a quality Italian meal. This time fell far short of meeting our expectations. We had a 6:30 reservation on Mother’s Day. First they seated us by a serving station when there were other tables available. Then our server came over and immediately informed us that they were out of bread and as a result also did not have bruschetta available. We love Il Fornaio’s bread service. They were known for their bakery. To run out of bread that early in the evening is poor food management. We know it is Mother’s Day but that should mean you plan accordingly. To add insult to injury our server was very flip with the issue and was more concerned with how he had to work that day. There was no apology, no offer to make things right. Needless to say we are extremely disappointed.

Amazingly, we were able to get a same day Mother’s Day reservation. We had a nice Russian River Chardonnay to start things off. The food was excellent. We had beet salads and sourdough bread with olive oil and balsamic followed by very tasty ravioli dish and an assorted fish meal which included scallops, shrimp, salmon,etc. It was very tasty. Our service was impeccable and the waiter was very helpful in helping us make our selections.

Enjoyed an excellent dinner for Mother’s Day. Wonderful ambience and excellent food and wine. Our server, Brian, was exceptional - very knowledgeable about the menu and wine choices and a very pleasant personality as well. Overall, a very enjoyable evening to celebrate Mother’s Day! Thank you!

It was our 38th wedding anniversary and we were seated at a table in a small nook with one other table looking on to the street where there was brisk foot traffic on their way to a Kane Brown concert at Golden One. Was lovely to people watch while having a wonderful dinner.

The staff at Il Fornaio are beyond compare. Frank the bartender and Jose the server are two outstanding examples. The food is pretty good too. We had Cesar salad and the special barramundi. Everything was great.

We always love Il Fornaio in downtown Sacramento. The food is delicious and the team is friendly and makes it a really nice experience. The space is really nice and parking is easy too, a lot of options.

We have always enjoyed eating at II Fornaio in the past. The food is very good and the ambience is very nice. My daughter had given us a gift certificate for our anniversary. This is the first time we have been served by a waiter that seemed like he could care less. Our service was so slow. It was just my husband and I and we were there just a little over 2 1/2 hours. The waiter was just strolling around the restaurant, not rushing around like the other servers. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our dessert and then my husband had to wave at the server to let him know we would like our bill. Then when we went to leave the parking lot we found we had gone over the 2 hour limit on our validated parking ticket so we had to pay another $4.

ll Fornaio was so amazingly aesthetically, pleasing and inviting the staff was nothing but welcoming in Cherry. We had an amazing waiter. Who helped us select our items we had an amazing seafood, pasta dish, very yummy pizza. And a tasty pasta à la vodka

My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful lunch with a table by the window, two delicious salads, and a small pizza to share. Our waiter and his assistant were attentive and helpful. And the restaurant validated my parking ticket!

We have found the food at il Fornaio to be hit and miss lately. Last night was a partial miss! The soup was luke warm. The lasagna was nice and hot. My linguine mare was luke warm and the mussels and clams were cold! Not the best meal ever!

I'll fornio is always a pleasant and tasty place to eat. The service is excellent. The only thing I wish is that they had more pasta sauces and choices.

The lasagna is the best I’ve ever had. The pear salad was distinctive and perfectly composed. The bread was perfect. I wonderful meal in a special setting.

The overall experience was great, unfortunately the steak was heavily undercooked but apart from that the service was great and the environment was very and is perfect for a date!

beautiful restaurant, while the main room is noisy due to the high ceiling we were able to go into an adjoining room, which was a little quieter. Weight staff (Jose) was amazing very friendly. Food was fabulous. Had the beet salad, soup special, Lamb shank and a chicken pasta with mushrooms and truffle oil. Affogato for dessert! another nice thing is that you can order a glass of wine or kraft with two glasses, or a bottle on most of the wines. Plan to return for lunch someday.

Hostess was rude and inconsiderate (after she looked at us for about two minutes without greeting us at all). We had a reservation for a birthday dinner. We were 10 mins early and there were tables open / clean everywhere. She said she couldn’t seat us as the servers needed a break. What the what?!? We waited at the bar for 10 minutes staring at the wide open array of tables. She came to seat us and walked us to the back of the restaurant to the smallest booth they had as we walked by three large and open booths one after the other in the center of the restaurant..all empty. We had gifts, coats, purses etc and it was a scrunch and basically crammed especially watching the booths remain empty until of course she seated a two top. Waiter was good though he forgot my only drink order (never brought it). Food was OK. My husbands Vodka pasta was way overcooked. Bolognese wasn’t reminiscent of bolognese at all. Tasted like someone threw chunky tomato sauce with some ground beef. It was pretty much a let down all in all. But the hostess really set the tone and unfortunately that tone was riddled with mediocrity.
