Il Colosseo is an Italian restaurant that is a local favorite. The dining room here is small and intimate, which adds to the homey atmosphere the eatery provides. At the back of the dining room, Il Colosseo has an open kitchen where guests can watch as the talented kitchen staff prepares the food. The kitchen is dominated by a giant brick oven where the staff cooks up all of its incredible pizzas.Il Colosseo begins its menu with antipasti like fried calamari for two, baked clams, sautéed octopus, sautéed broccoli rabe and a pasta e fagioli soup with white kidney beans and fusilli noodles in a light tomato broth. Some of the various entrées diners can sample are a chicken Francese, spicy shrimp fra diavolo, veal piccata, pasta bolognese and the Frank Sinatra pasta made with black olives, clams, mussels and shrimp in a garlic and white wine sauce.

The good: the food was AMAZING - some of the best Italian food I've had. Phenomenal calamari, pizza (the best crust ever!), amazing fresh pasta, excellent wine selection, and even the olive oil for dipping was next level. What makes me give 4 stars rather than five - services was slow. We had a 7:30 reservation and weren't seated until 7:50. Took 15 minutes to get a drink, and food took a long time as well - thank goodness we ordered appetizers as soon as we sat down or the kids would have been starving! The overall experience was 2+ hours, which again, if we didn't have kids would have been less of a big deal. It's clearly a family owned business and everyone was hustling like crazy - not like they weren't working, but they were busy and there was a lot to do. Would I still come back? Absolutely!

We had a great dinner. Reasonably priced and nice sized portions. We shared misto mare as an appetizer, then I had shrimp franchese and my husband had the sweet and spicy calamari. Marcos was a great waiter We’ll be back!

i have been to il coloseseo many times always very good on all aspects but the other night i had the most incredible time and meal my server waqs a ten the table was a ten the food from start to finish was an eleven im stilll talking about it thank you so much for making my birthday dinner special i was going to go somewhere new and i just new to go back to were you feel comfortable i hope to book again very soon thx again mike levine THE FOODGUY

Delicious restaurant with simple but quant atmosphere. Great menu choices and staff very polite. We went during a busy time of the year so it was very crowded- I highly recommend reservations. Prices were not over the top especially for the location . Everyone was out for the Dyker lights and this seemed to be a great location for good food and family/ friends. Did I mention they also had live music???? Great vibe and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended! Side note- spoke with owner on the side to thank him for- he does walk around and mingle to make sure everyone is happy- he does an awesome job at keeping his dad’s memory alive!

This is a nice place. I've been here before and the food is good. Unfortunately I brought a date here specifically because there were vegan options on the menu, only to be told "oh we don't make any of those anymore". If that's the case, please REMOVE IT FROM YOUR MENU. My date was forced to settle for a pizza without cheese, and considering I picked the restaurant I was extremely embarrassed. We also sat for nearly 45 minutes before being served, but it was a full house on a Saturday night and it was obvious the wait staff was busy so I can't fault them for this.
