It all started with a promise and from there it was built on a vision. Gaetano Gravino was a hairstylist who had found part time work at a doughboy shack in Oakland Beach. This part time work turned into an opportunity that spoke to his entrepreneurial spirit - the same spirit that lives on in his wife and children: Sally, MaryAnn, David, and Guy. When the chance came to lease the establishment, Gaetano and his wife Sally took it. And in 1989, Iggy's Doughboy and Chowder House was born - coined after a nickname given to him by his son, David. The featured dish at the time was the red chowder - the recipe a family secret created by Sally herself.

This place is great! Beautiful views and a welcoming friendly atmosphere made for a great place to celebrate our family gathering for a party of eight. Portions are huge, cocktails strong and beer is ice cold.

Service was fair/poor, served food with no silverware, appetizers with no plates, it wasn’t super busy but these items were missed, cleared plates while we were still eating. The baked schrod was good, ceaser salad was not very good, Id say overall fair lunch overall

Always a great dinner at really good prices for the food you get. Nice outside covered patio with view of the water, and the fresh seafood is always on point. Our go to place for lobster in the area.

Can't beat the location. The food is consistently good, though certainly not the best seafood I've had in Rhode Island. Reliable place to bring visitors to RI. Generally something on the menu for everyone.

TJ, our server made the visit! Attentive, friendly and accommodating. Visiting with my 90year old parents and TJ took the time to make a real connection. Made their night!

Food not bad. Pasta dishes we didn’t like. The pasta was very thick and not delicate. The lobster was fresh in the roll. Best dish was the lobster empanadas.

Overall excellent experience. I ordered the scallops Newburg and was presented with the wrong dish. I sent it back and the waiter and floor manager came back, very apologetic. They put a rush on my order as the rest of my party was already eating. They did a good job, got me the right dish which was delicious. They took good care of us! The mistake in the kitchen is likely just early season new personnel mistakes. They recovered well from a mistake and I would recommend Iggy’s to anyone who wants excellent seafood! Creative drinks and delicious food combined with great customer service is guaranteed.
