We picked one of the busiest days ( Mother’s Day) to have dinner at Hydra. Everything went well from start to finish. Great window table, reasonable glasses of wine and delicious salmon dip for a starter. We choose moussaka and souvlaki for entrees and shared. The moussaka came with a generous Greek salad and the souvlaki had two skewers of chicken. Quite a traditional meal but nevertheless well presented and cooked to perfection. Roman was a professional but friendly server and is excellent at his job. We’ll certainly return and try some seafood which looked delicious.

The online system gave us a reservation time of 10.45am. The restaurant double checked with us by text the previous night that we would arrive by 10.30am. When we arrived, we were told the the restaurant is closing in 15 minutes and only breakfast was being served. We had to leave and leaving us in the lurch on Mothers Day without a reservation elsewhere.

I made a last minute reservation for 6. By far the best food I had in Vancouver with outstanding service! Loved the salted whole fish and the octopus was fantastic! The ambience is lively and you can have a conversation without having to yell! I would definitely go back:)

The noise level was so bad that the two of us had to huddle together at the end of a bistro table for 2 to hear one another, rather than sit across from one another as you would normally. This place is also quite expensive compared to other fancy places we dined at in Vancouver.

The food was amazing. We were seated very close to the kitchen, so lots of busy traffic. The dining room was quite loud the whole time we were there. Service was very good but just slow. We also didn't like that during our meal, the server said she was going home and introduced us to the server taking over for her. It turned out to be the bartender, so she was not very attentive.

Lovely birthday dinner for two of our group of four. Trevor provided professional and attentive table service with excellent recommendations and even a birthday dessert selection that we supplemented with our favorite, the bougatsa. We will return!

The food at Hydra never disappoints! Everything is absolutely delicious. The service is also incredible and their sommelier Chris is an expert when it comes to wine pairing. I also love the Greek mythology stories in the bathroom - nice touch!

It was a lovely experience. Unfortunately one of our friends got really sick after eating the salmon. The servers were wonderful and helped our friend and brought her water and cold wet towels. They even sent us home with a care package of bottled water, a sick bag, and another towel.

Made my reservation two weeks in advance and was put into what seemed like the overflow area. We were segregated from the main restaurant. We felt like we were in a wedding hall stuck in a corner. The table kept on wiggling and the chairs seemed like they were spares. For the price I paid, I expected better ambiance. The quality of food was amazing and our sever was top notch.

Service was very very slow. We ordered the Roast chicken platter. The portion was generous, good presentation. The chicken was cooked well, soft and had great texture but lacked any kind of flavor.

Had an incredible experience here! Was with another couple and the portions are massive. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomach but that just means leftovers. Will be back the next time we are in Vancouver for sure

May look a little pricey at first glance, but the platters are great value when you consider that they can easily satisfy 3 or more people. Happy hour drinks prices are also reasonable. Food was delicious.

Waiter did not engage at outset. Proceeded to table and started by asking what we wanted. We had to tell him to slow down so as not to complete our expensive meal in 30 minutes.

A very enjoyable meal. The ceviche was great as was the beet salad. The lamb chops could have had a little more char and might have been rested a bit longer. I thought the octopus was a bit over. Over all very good. Being Valentine’s Day a couple small timing issues are forgivable.

We started with the the very tasty grilled octopus, followed by grilled tuna for me & salmon for my companion. Expertly prepared, fresh & very tasty. Ended with the Bougatsa- oh my what a wonderful treat! Service was attentive, professional & very helpful. A truly wonderful experience from the minute we entered this beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend!

The food was OK, but the service was very slow. We had to wait long time for our table to get ready and then another 30 min to order the food. Yes, the restaurant was busy, but still I think the waiting time was too long.

you need to try the cheese as an appy. as for the meal i had steak which was overly peppery that i couldn't really taste the meat, my husband had the crab stuffed lobster tail he found his food very peppery as well. would recommend losing the pepper shaker

Hiccup with the host who said I didn’t have a reservation. This makes sense as restaurant sent me a text weeks ago asking to confirm my reservation for last week. Host eventually found a table for my party upon showing her my mobile app reservation details. Server might have been new with both appetizer and entree arriving at the same time and drinks came last. Grilled octopus was a bit chewy. Dips and pita chips were amazing. Overall, place was nice but some kinks still need to get ironed out.

Unwelcome, crowded, ignored and served in such a sloppy and inconsistent way. Menus not given, orders not taken, dishes shoved across the table, everything served by reaching over others and the table, no smile/eye contact or normal server talk, full out ignoring some members of our party of 4. It was weird, like he was trying to be snobby? Not sure, but it just came out as incompetent service. Food was great tasting, but the service, atmosphere and squished in tables did not match the higher tier price level of restaurant. Uncomfortable entire visit. Go elsewhere.
