The restaurant at the Grand Wailea that shares its name with the official state fish of Hawaii, is really all it shares with Hawaii. The Aloha spirit and great food you find on Maui is not here. The sunset views are spectacular but you can get that for free from any beach facing west. You expect to overpay at a resort, but you don't expect poor service and poor quality at a Waldorf Astoria Resort. Unfortunately, here you will get both. First of all, our waiter Ken (who is obviously not Hawaiian) was on island time the entire time, and yet he somehow mysteriously materialized when our neighbors needed a refill or anything at all - and then poof, gone. Maybe it was because I look more native than he does, maybe it's because my baby is too cute, or maybe he's just one of those dudes. Any way you cut it, our experience was really bad. The busser, Jay, is very cool and did his best to keep us entertained while Ken did Ken things. But, because of Ken's lack of attention, our food was served cold and tbh, the Prime New York steak I ordered is probably the worst steak I've ever been served in a restaurant. I mean, Sizzler and Outback serve better steaks (no offense to either I love you both, just saying). The NY was served warm, not sizzling hot, it was covered in a demi glaze which is a big warning sign. Who smothers a Prime steak with a sauce? Someone trying to hide something - the poor quality of the steak. It tastes terrible. My advice is to try one the Island's many other restaurants for dinner.

The food was amazing and plentiful. We split the entire meal and we were very full. Excellent waitstaff.

We frequent fine dining and seek out food experiences while traveling. The ambiance was nice, a bar seat is probably the best, the private dining section was quiet and far away from other diners. The chairs were incredibly heavy and almost impossible to push in. The food was very bland and way overpriced. Very disappointed and would not return. Our server was very attentive and kind.

I expect to pay a premium for this sort of restaurant, but service was lackluster at best, it was my mother’s bday and they forgot the candles on the dessert when the waiter had already asked if we were celebrating anything. A real bummer. The ambiance is something special, for that, we might try again.

Lounge seat reservations for sunset is the way to go. Better than standard dining room and it’s the same menu.

The most disappointing dinning experience we have ever had and I don’t say these things lightly. As a fellow Marriott luxury service associate, the standard is better than this. Especially for fine dinning, yet the food and service was bad even for a none fine dining standard. We literally only saw our server once while ordering, and was completely unable to answer any questions we had about the menu. She went MIA after this and I felt like we could have easily walked out on our meal, we actually had to get up and wander to find someone to refill our drinks and again to get the check. The food was also bad, ordered the chicken and the swordfish. Chicken was just straight dry and both lacked flavor of any kind let alone a garnish or any thoughtful plating, either had very little menu description and the person who brought our food was unable to tell us anything about it. No one ever came to ask how the food was over all leaving us very depressed over the biggest waste of $400 ever spent in our lives.

Service was excellent. View of the ocean and the sunset was great. Unfortunately, the food is overpriced and extremely salty. Every dish we had was over salted and not very tasty. While it’s convenient to eat there if you are a guest at the Grand Wailea, I would strongly recommend skipping this restaurant and finding an alternative elsewhere in town. Food is extremely overpriced and is certainly nothing exceptional or tasty. This is the last time we’ll return to this restaurant.

Wonderful dinner and fresh fish selection. Would recommend to anyone nearby! Randall and Jonathan took wonderful care of us. Mocktails were delicious.

This was easily the best tasting meal I have ever enjoyed in my life. Right from the appies to main course to desserts - absolutely scrumptious!
