Humo [oo-moh], is a modern firehouse situated in the heart of Watford, serving Spanish inspired meat, seafood, fish, and seasonal vegetables cooked in a charcoal and wood oven.

The furnace reaches temperatures of over 300 degrees Celsius so the produce is seared and smoked in seconds, making sure the flavour sings on your palate, and not on the plate.

The restaurant boasts a beautiful, seated island bar, a peephole into the working kitchen and covers for over 100 guests. The a la carte menu is purposely focused on dishes that dance in the fire, and the specials menu celebrates the produce only available seasonally.

The wine list is carefully designed to pair with the menu and comprises of a sophisticated range of wines from around the world. The bar also features a range of spirits, beers, classic and inventive cocktails for your pleasure.

I arrived an hour early to my booking and asked if it would be ok for me to sit and wait until my friend arrived. The staff were incredibly accommodating and inviting and did not make me feel awkward about this at all. My friend was then running late and still, they were lovely about this, not trying to rush me along or find out how long she was going to be. When we ordered, the food came very quickly and it was absolutely delicious. The beef croquettes are a must try. For me, the music was too loud. When it was pretty much just me in the restaurant, I asked if it could be turned down as I was sat quite near the speaker. They accommodated my request and turned it down. As people started coming, it gradually got turned up and by the time my friend arrived it was back to the original volume which meant we had to almost shout to hear each other. Definitely good vibes and good music (which helped!) but not so great for a friendly catch up or chat over dinner. Would definitely go back and would definitely recommend to others too.

If you are looking for a place to eat something really delicious- that's the place. We saw all those good reviews and booked a table, all of those reviews were true! Fantastic dishes! Definitely will come again.

Food was overpriced for (we felt) for what it was. Not all menu items were available (sometimes these things happen). My happy cocktail was not reduced, albeit I ordered before 7pm. On the whole, I'm not keen to return.

Great night, lovely waiter Jonathan guided us on the menu and was always around to help and was very friendly with us. We happened to go on a very quiet night but nevertheless ambience was great and a very lovely environment. Food was amazing. Recommended definitely.

The food, drinks and service was incredible. Staff paid attention and noticed what was happening on our table so before we needed to ask for anything they had provided it. Great atmosphere and I’ll definitely be going again

This was my second visit but my sister and sister in laws first. I had raved about it when I first came a few weeks ago. Seeing it was a fast opening meal - food was limited as there was not much halal food on offer. All three of us just ended up having the chicken dish. Understandable The Babette steak ran out. Restaurant ambience is lovely. Seeing it was not busy the service was a touch slow. But the waiters were lovely and welcoming. It’s a nice touch the owner does go round and speak to his diners.

Everything from the service to the food was exceptional. The food was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, the croquets were the best we've ever had (still dreaming of them now!) and the tomahawk steak was fabulous. All the drinks were lovely, special shout out to the jalapeño margarita, and the desert was absolutely delicious. The service was great, couldn't fault any of the staff. They focussed on serving you as people and as you're the most important guests in the room. Based on our experience (and watching them with other customers) they really go above and beyond.
