Après des années et des kilomètres de recherche visant à trouver l'endroit idéal qui leur permettrait d'ouvrir un restaurant complémentaire au très réussi Gibsons Bar & Grill, les propriétaires Hugo Ralli et Steve Lombardo ont finalement trouvé exactement ce qu'ils cherchaient et ce, juste sous leur nez. Wonderful meal - the lobster in artichoke was a highlight! The service was perfect, and we enjoyed the lively atmosphere (including the excellent pianist).

Hugo's has a fun feeling, and the decor is suitably nautical for a seafood establishment. My recent visit was a mixed experience, though. The martinis, oysters, and clam chowder were excellent, but the tuna au poivre was bland and didn't have much flavor. I was also disappointed to have to wait for a table despite having a reservation. I expected some delays on Mother's Day, but 45 minutes seemed excessive. Our server was not quite as prompt as I would expect on a typical day, but for a holiday, he did a commendable job (I regret not keeping track of his name). I have dined at Hugo's before and will again, but this experience didn't quite meet expectations.

The waitress seemed to forget us/ when our mani entree came out we were half done with it before our sides came out. We have been coming to Hugo’s for years and this was the first time I was disappointed.

Regular diner @ this spot. In fairness, the restaurant was slammed for Mother’s Day. Our waiter forgot some of our food order, was gone for long periods of time, food took forever to arrive, and then was not up to standards. Disappointing.

Our waiter was not attentive. The food was really bland. I didn't really want to complain because it was busy for Mother's Day. But I never paid that much money for steaks that had no taste.

This is a large, crowded tourist spot. Naturally, it is loud and bustling. The book under soup ( fish stew) was good but I thought tasted a bit of msg. Walleye was tasty but husbands ahi tuna was drowned in an unpleasant peppercorn sauce. Saiteed spinach was essentially raw. It was not a relaxing place and the food was underwhelming.

Spicy tuna sushi and seared tuna were just okay. The seared tuna was so bland I could barely eat it. Also we always feel like we are being rushed by the wait staff when we are there. They are very anxious to clear the table before we are done, etc.

I believe the quality of the fish has gone way down. This was always our favorite seafood restaurant, but last night’s dinner was forgettable. My wife had the walleye and said it was tasteless and uninteresting. I had the snapper and it was full of bones. Even the clam chowder was watery and consisted of mostly potatoes.

It was a spectacular birthday celebration for my best friend thanks to the amazing Bahishta. I couldn't have asked for a better server. Food was awesome as always. Thank you for helping me celebrate my friend.

Great time with my mom and daughters. I gave a 4 on food because my snapper was tasty but very dry. The manager took it away and didn’t charge for it and apologized repeatedly. I was impressed with all the other meals and their professionalism and determination to make things right. All the other dishes were delicious. We tried frog legs for the first time and my very picky mom really enjoyed them. A bearnaise or lemon butter sauce drizzled over that snapper could have saved it. Or maybe they didn’t need to butterfly it. I’m no chef….

We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our table, however, was in an area with very tightly placed tables. It was nearly impossible to not get some amount of bumps from other diners or servers. The first part of our service was very nice. We had time to relax over cocktails and our starters (oysters and shrimp cocktail, both very fresh). Our server took our orders for our mains after the starters were finished. Mains include soup or salad and he told us those would be right out. It took some time for the soup and salad to arrive (good clam chowder; non-remarkable house salad), but then our mains showed up quite quickly. We rapidly finished our salad to make table room for the mains. The main dishes were good (tuna au poivre, halibut). The roasted asparagus we had for a side were very good. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse pie. They really need to advise that this is massive and can serve 10 easily. We were a party of 2. It’s just a giant chunk of mousse on an Oreo crust. The taste was fine but the amount was overwhelming. While we have leftovers at home, I can’t imagine we’ll finish it all. Overall, we had a pleasant evening (but not inexpensive).

The food is very good and if you can’t find what you want you can always ask to see the adjacent Gibson’s menu. One of the best wait staffs in town. The cherry pie was exceptional and enough for three.

Brian was an incredible server; Knowledgeable about the fish and menu. The team worked together for awesome table maintenance. Great atmosphere. Nice wine list and incredibly fresh fish. You MUST try the muddy bottom pie. There were 10 of us and we passed it around until it was gone. Yum!

Classic Chicago restaurant. You must try Hugo’s if you haven’t yet. Excellent service, quality food, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
