At Hominy Southern Kitchen, we believe that good food is the staple to any great gathering. We are a family owned and operated restaurant inspired by the South. Chef Jacob Burkhardt, a Tennessee native, combines his love of southern cooking with local and seasonal ingredients offering a creative menu of elevated Southern Cuisine in the Heart of the Rockies.

We are open Wednesdays, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. We are closed Mondays & Tuesdays. We offer Brunch on Saturday & Sunday from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Reservations are taken for our indoor dining only. We have two outdoor porches that are available for walk ins.

Hominy was delicious as always! The wood fired oysters are amazing and I finally tried the corn bread. It was so good! The chicken and waffles were great and so is the meatloaf. You can’t go wrong at Hominy.

The food, service by the server and ambiance were fine. We went to Hominy to celebrate my Louisiana-born husband’s 75th birthday. We made a 5:00 reservation on Open Table and arrived a few minutes early. A woman met us at the door and pointed us (didn’t take us) to a table tucked against the wall and up close to the bar, right next to the only other couple in the restaurant. Her treatment of us was the only negative (other than our seating arrangement). She was brusque and cool, not at all welcoming, as if we were putting her out. Other patrons that arrived almost an hour later were greeted warmly. Guess we weren’t important enough. Noting online that they had a happy hour until 5, I mentioned this to the much friendlier sever. She at first denied that it was still going but then corrected herself and promptly took our orders. The seafood gumbo was tasty but not like a real souplike gumbo. My husband had the fried catfish, which he loved. Good sides, too. The cornbread was excellent. Prices are steep and all à la carte but worth it for the uniqueness of the food, which we don’t find around here much. Hubby said he’d go back. I’m not sure.

We love this restaurant and the food is so good. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Only complaint is the noise level- very difficult to hear people at your table,

Great restaurants seem to come and go in the Roaring Fork Valley. We are glad this has arrived! We hadn't visited the area in some time, given Covid and other plans, but it was time. We planned to visit some of our favorite restaurants, but several have bit the dust, so we did a search and found Hominy and we are glad we did. We were so impressed the first night that we cancelled a prior reservation at the Pullman in Glenwood in order to stop a second night at Hominy. The first night we selected a number of appetizers and dishes from the "Hominy Favorites" part of the menu. The chicken liver pate arrived with about 1/3 cup of rich, creamy pate and a selection of pickles, making us very happy. We also shared an order of the pickled-then-fried green tomatoes. Excellent idea to pickle them first! And we also shared the Hominy Chowder. We learned that it had received an award for best soup in the Valley and we could appreciate why -- creamy, deep flavors, delicious. One of us had the Bayou gumbo, also very good. The second night we selected two meal combos from the bottom part of the menu, the pulled pork and the glazed baby back ribs. We are STILL trying to finish the ribs -- better called a rib roast than a half-rack of ribs -- 5 nights later. Prices are reasonable for the Valley, although we ate and drank so much that we racked up quite a bill, but happy for the experience. Do check out the cocktail menu -- several quite unusual drinks, and too many for us to sample everything in two nights. One warning... Don't be turned off by the location in a rather ordinary shoppette in El Jebel. This location has had several greats, including The Sunflower, many years ago. Outstanding! A good reason to return to the Roaring Fork sooner rather than later.

The food at Hominy is some of the best in the Valley. Quality definitely matches the price. A few of my friends have Celiac, so the fact that more than half of the menu is/can be made reliably GF is HUGE plus.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience at Hominy. The service was fantastic, knowledgeable and professional. And the food was even better than my already high expectations. Need to get back asap.

The Wood Fire Roasted Duck was over the top! So tender and tasty. We also had the Cajun Crawfish Mac and Cheese. Can't say enough about how great this dish was. Bring from NoLa this was spot on! Service and wait staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant has a very nice ambiance. Highly recommend.

I’ll never stop saying it: this is THE best restaurant in the valley! I always dream of the food there, but currently am dreaming of the crawfish Mac and cheese we had last night (insert drool emoji here). It’s easy to see how HSK won Mactoberfest!

Being from the south we were skeptical about how our experience would be. Boy, were we ever surprised!! Each of us ordered something different & everything was out of this world. This quaint place offers a fantastic array of southern charm, gracious staff and most of all, fresh delicious food. We will definitely be back.

This was our 2nd dinner at Hominy. Service and menu excellent! Could not believe our bill was under $100....2 appies, 2 alcoholic drinks, and 2 entries! Highly recommend!

Everything was dynamite from the moment we arrived well past when we left. We enjoyed the Hominy Shrimp & Grits, 1/2 doz raw oysters, and 1/2 doz wood-fired oysters as starters and were blown away. Our main courses included the High Country Boil and catfish (the Hoppin' John with the catfish was the perfect combo). We had strawberry shortcake for dessert (mm, the lemon curd!) and brought a slice of key lime pie home - literally THE best key lime pie that ever existed. Service was excellent, Sarah is a pure delight. My favorite restaurant in the valley!

This was our first visit to Hominy, in ElJebel, CO. The service was extremely professional! The food was the freshest possible, vegetables straight from local farmers. We were celebrating famikky birthdays and chose Hominy to try their famous fried chicken. It was awesome!! They offer gluten free meals, which I enjoyed. The entire evening was great! Thanks to the chef and his kind and considerate staff!
