Hiyoko is a space with 16 seats and it is the first yakitori style restaurant in Mexico. Most of its menu is concentrated in chicken cooked on Japanese charcoal called binchotan under the sumiyaki technique marinated in salsa madre. In its menu we can also find rice and vegetables.

I think we surprised the staff when we showed up - we were the first reservation to walk in that night. Now I have to give all the credit to the chef, he served as chef, food consultant - even corrected the staff having given us a lunch vs. dinner menu. The chef cleared our plates, took new food orders etc. server was pretty much absent until it was time for the check. This was a one time only visit for us.

My guest and I did not enjoy it. Menu was not explained well, the food was disappointing. We had the Chicken Karaage to start and it did not compare to my previous experiences. Very bland.

We loved the music and atmosphere, and the food was excellent! Get the pollo karaage and elote baby. Delicioso!!

All menus are so delicious. The chefs were friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and nice.

The duck tostada was an exceptional, memorable bite. I will never forget it. Nothing but raves for everything we tried. The onigiri take 30 minutes and are worth the wait. The look & feel, the vibe, the staff… all incredible.

Second visit. First visit I expienced a very rude concierge but persevered past her and had a lovely evening. Second visit we were sat under a blinking halogen light one side and a blown one the other. Staff acted as though that was completely OK. We moved of course, only other spot was near the toilet. Suddenly I thought the food was just ok, the price unacceptable, the ambience terrible. 3 dishes were unavailable including yakatori meatballs - really! We were near a in our new spot so the disco music meant we couldn't hear the waitress either. Had a terrible evening and couldn't get out of there fast enough. The high price is tolerable because of the cool vibe and the food is good for Mexico but it was all shattered by carelessness and a lack of attention to detail. Don't think I'll give it a third chance.

Fresh ingredients, flavors dominated by soy brushed on during cooking making flavor profile lean one dimensional. Innovative effort. Uneven service.
