Hi-Life Bar & Grill is one of the Upper West side’s most popular and longstanding neighborhood restaurants (est. 1991). Hi-Life's 1930's decor is the backdrop for bar & grill classics like flame-grilled steaks and hamburgers, broiled and seared fresh fish specials, bountiful "Big Bowls" of pasta and entree salads, and last but not least a Sushi/Raw bar. (Hi-Life was the first NYC restaurant to install a traditional sushi bar in a non-Japanese restaurant setting in 1993. Expertly prepared sushi & sashimi at Hi-Life is a natural extension of the classic Raw Bar one might expect in our 1930's environment.)

Hi-Life also serves a "traditional Westside" brunch that features fresh squeezed juices, complimentary blueberry muffins & cinnamon toast as well as a 4.95 brunch cocktail deal.

In the warmer months Hi-Life outdoor seating includes 26 seats along Amsterdam Ave and another 16 seats on our 83rd St side.

One of my favorite restaurants let me down this time. My wife and I were squeezed into a tiny table for two between really loud neighbors. When I asked if we could sit on the porch, I was told they were holding those tables although one of the tables for two was not used. My water glass was never refilled. Only six puny chicken wing sections, not like previous times. I will return because this was probably an anomaly, but will be less forgiving if it happens again. Bummed.

While visiting NYC to meet some family members, I wanted a casual restaurant that had a neighborhood vibe, delicious eclectic food, and was relatively close to the hotel where we were staying. Hi-Life met all of these requirements. With such a diverse menu, each of us could order exactly what we were in the mood for, sip some generous cocktails and enjoy our friendly and competent servers!

Hi Life is my neighborhood gem for great food at reasonable prices. The folks there are friendly and do nice to be around. Without Hi Life I would starve to death.

We really liked the variety on the menu — something for everyone! Our daughter ordered sushi, my husband got the creamy pesto pasta with chicken special and I enjoyed the ginger salmon with brown rice and steamed veggies. We finished with a delicious cheesecake and warm brownie, along with coffee. All was delicious!

Love the food and service. Diverse menu to satisfy everyone. Only drawback this time was sitting adjacent to a large group of very loud people which was inside the restaurant as opposed to sitting outside. Sitting at the cafe usually is much quieter and pleasant.

I started with a Bombay Sapphire Dirty Martini, then had the Hi-Life Oyster Platter -- both were excellent. I sat outside on a beautiful, chilly, night -- but the table heatilator kept me plenty warm.

Enjoyed an early dinner here (4-6 pm) before heading to Beacon Theatre. Service was very friendly and efficient. Food was delicious. I especially enjoyed their margaritas, the steamed shrimp dumplings and the steak sandwich. Our table also ordered the warm goat cheese salad, potato skins and Hi-Life burger: all of it received rave reviews from our group. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Going early was a good idea as we were able to enjoy a comfy booth and happy hour prices.

It was a great neighborhood pub/sports bar. Very cozy and clean. My son loved that the football game was on. Wonderful service. We will come back more regularly.

It was so nice to return to Hi-Life after a few years. I realized very quickly why I loved it so much. My friend and I had the best dinner, service, food, ambience, everything. I can't wait to return!!!

When we first arrived, there wasn't many people. We had an early reservation. But once it hit around 5pm it became so lively and yet it still was so comfortable and not loud enough to disturb the other patrons. The food was wonderful and in great proportions. The waiter was nice and would check up on us now and then which I really appreciate. All in all I would comeback again and recommend it to others who want a lively , yet comfortable experience.

Love Hi-life, one of my go to spots on the UWS. Food is great, vibe is relaxed, staff are all lovely. Hanging at the bar is fun too if you can find a seat!
