The food is always great. The chicken liver and the dry-aged lamb with citrus were standouts. And the cocktails are excellent.

Go for the drinks, but probably not the food. The food seemed hit or miss to us, but more miss than hit. If you do order food, the steak tartar was the best thing we had and actually quite good. That said, the drinks, waitstaff, and ambiance are all wonderful. Our take: have a couple of pre or post dinner drinks, but find somewhere else to eat.

Fantastic place to grab a bite to eat and some cocktails. My husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed some great conversation with the bartender and loved her drink suggestions (these cocktails pack a punch)! The food was incredible - I'll be dreaming of the uni panna cotta for weeks to come. Will definitely be coming back and bringing friends!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this small, intimate restaurant. The drinks are amazing and the food to match! Awesome service, friendly and attentive. We also love to sit at the bar and have the bartender create drinks for us.

Wonderful people work here. Huge difference from any other place I can think of. The food sounds insane but is always delicious, and the cocktails are the main attraction for me. They're perfection

Spectacular food and drinks. Very friendly hostess but much less friendly or informative waiter, he was not interested in telling us about the menu and answered questions with one word. Not in to it at all. Other than our waiter it was fantastic and we would come back for sure!!!! Delicious food :)

Lien and her team never disappoint! Every dish was a win (and we had many)…flavorful, interesting, right portions, and just delicious. Service friendly and unpretentious. I love going back to HLAY whenever I can. ❤️

The dry aged happy hour burger is the best burger I’ve ever had, my friend and I booked a reservation for next week while we were still enjoying our dinner because we had to bring our friends with us as soon as possible

We were greeted by a friendly and accommodating hostess. The menu is limited and the food was underwhelming. The service was okay. The prices were quite overpriced for the portions and subpar food.

First time coming to HLAY with my two cousins and IT WAS AMAZING! The customer service was 10/10, the food was delicious 1000/10 and the atmosphere was lively, fun and everyone was in their own world living, laughing and loving. I would come here again with my Fiance, my primas (cousin's in spanish lol), and other friends!! seriously amazing- a homey feel. GREAT food!! the STEAK WAS DEVINE!! and the peppers were WOW no words! I cannot wait to be back!! parking on the side valet. almost forgot ! the drinks were GREAT!!

The flavor combos they continue to turn out here with unique ingredients is amazing (same goes for the cocktails). It really embodies L.A. with a mix of asian, latin and other cuisines, all executed with impeccable technique. Hadn't been in a long time and quickly remembered why I was so fond of HLAY the last time around. And don't sleep on the 8:30-10pm happy hour.

Super friendly service, delicious food and cocktails, cute vibe - overall a great experience! I especially liked the oysters, the beets, the lamb, and the Last Call drink. Wish we had room to try dessert.

Warm vibes. Food cooked with care served impeccably. Excellent cocktails & outstanding Navy Grog. Seating the front was a hair tight. Gotta go back at happy hour for another tiki and a burger : )

My partner and I celebrated Valentines Day with the Price Fixed Surf and Turf dinner menu at HLAY. The ambiance was lovely and the staff was charming and friendly. The food was mostly delicious but because it was a curated meal, there were parts of the dishes we didn't love but we understood that we were within the specific food selection from the Chef. I'd like to come back to experience the rest of the restaurants dishes to open up my mind more and palette.

I really wanted to like this place. The service and ambiance was great. However the ventilation was very poor - and got stuffy when it got busy after 7pm. It's shockingly pricey for very little food. Dinner for 2 with 3 drinks was $250! The sizes are VERY small. For example, the pickles app included just small each of cauliflower, carrots, and eggplants. The entres of rockfish and pork shoulder were smaller portions than what you would get in an LA street taco. I just think its outrageous how much dining out in LA has become. But the real crime is the portions; if you want to give tapas style portions then say that upfront. I left hungry and had to get a burger on the way home.

One of my favorite restaurants in LA, with some of the most creative cuisine I’ve had in my life. Even the dishes I personally considered a bit disappointing (maybe one or two of the eight ordered) were still delicious—everything else is just so good some of the menu gets outshined. Cocktails are out of this world.

Nice restaurant, good service, mediocre food. We ordered the steak and frites, a house burger and frites. The steak was excellent, the burger’s bun was hard as rock and burnt! The frites were also overcooked and hard; so I cancelled the side order. The bartenders are great and never disappoint. If I do return it’ll be for pre or post event drinks only.

Went for the NYE tasting menu - Added a lobster. Wouldn’t have changed a thing food-wise, top to bottom a well-imagined and executed menu, with each plate able to stand on its own, with its own unique flavor/texture profile …I wish we could’ve stayed longer (which is again a credit to the great staff and great food!). But the 8:30pm seating was approaching, and we needed to make way.
