Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast
Plusieurs dates disponibles
Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Amazing quality food. I’d really recommend the Sunday Roast and will be back here again to try the chateaubriand for sure. Fantastic!

My daughter took me for the Sunday roast for Mother’s Day. We had been in London during the past Christmas season and had a Sunday roast while we were there so I was excited to try your’s. Our meal was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had!! Every part of the roast was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was so lovely and helpful even sending over the sommelier to help with our wine choices. He was very helpful picking a wine that was perfectly paired with our meal. Hawksmoor is now added to one of our favorite restaurants that we’ll definitely be telling our friends and family about.

It's just excellent overall. Service is superb. Elevated comfort classics that are superbly executed. It's just delicious.End of story. Not a foam, dry ice, or microgreen in site. Who cares? Not me. Good is good, and this is great!

Had a great overall experience. The salads were very fresh, filet steak and chicken cooked perfectly, sticky toffee pudding was the perfect delicious ending to the meal. The restaurant was busy and a bit loud, but not too loud so that we could still have conversation. I really appreciate that music was kept at a low volume so that people could talk.

I had very high expectations of Hawksmoor. I thought the complaints about noise were overblown, they aren't. On that front I would suggest sitting in the bar area. It will be much more pleasant. I brought a very expensive 2000 red wine. I was asked if I wanted it decanted. I said yes. About 10 minutes later they brought back the wine having only removed the cork. My steak, boneless ribeye was $70. It had the familiar taste of the kosher rib steak my mother used to make. Lots of fat around the edges and tendons running through it that was nearly impossible to cut with a steak knife. My wife had the vegetarian entree and she quite liked it. I wanted to try a new steak place. Hawksmoor sadly is one I can't recommend and won't return to. I forgot to add that business casual attire is a joke. The waitstaff looked like they came from the beach or a ballgame. Wear whatever makes you comfortable.

On my second evening spent at Hawksmoor, I was pleased with everything. Could not resist ordering the scallops again and thoroughly enjoyed them. The oysters with habanero were also a big hit! We really like the elegance of the room and the casual vibe of the staff. However, our waiter could have been just a little more engaging. Thanks for another nice evening at Hawksmoor.

My steak was way overcooked and my friends was way undercooked. Kinda crazy to mess up temp so bad when you’re a literal steak house. Also was so excited for the beef tallow fries but they were hard in the middle and not crispy. Oysters were great though.

Overall a nice experience food being very good and the service … our waiter Ryan… was excellent. Seating for 2 was at bit dull at least for me looking at the wall but my wife had a nice view of the very nice looking restaurant. My point being 3 much nicer booths which i asked about were available with nicer views and were still empty when we left. Bone marrow was excellent as was the Steelhead tartare and the Monkfish too.

This place was phenomenal! The service was impeccable. My wife and I chose it to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary while in NYC. Elise, our waiter, was a delight. She attended to every detail, ensuring we had an incredible experience. The porterhouse and shrimp were divine, and even though I'm not a spinach fan, it was still decent. The pork belly was outstanding, and the pecan crusted caramel dessert was out of this world. Overall, a memorable dining experience!

I've had dinners at Hawksmoor before. Yesterday, my friend and I tried the Sunday Roast. What a delicious treat to have this British specialty in Gramercy Park! The Roast was perfectly cooked, with marrow gravy on the side, very crispy potatoes with the soft center, a hallmark of British cooking, and several vegetables. Plus the biggest side of Yorkshire Pudding imaginable. All cooked perfectly. Would definitely return for the Sunday Roast and recommend it to others.

I came to celebrate my birthday with friends and the service, ambience, and food was more than spectacular. The sommelier made the best wine recommendation. I wish I could’ve captured the night and food in a bottle. But the staff made my experience and birthday feel special.

Everything was good except that I was gently rushed out upon completion of the meal while I was still drinking my wine. I was there for only 50 minutes overall. I didn’t like that at all.

We went to Hawksmoor for our anniversary. We had tried Hawksmoor at EatsCon. The food was delicious. My husband loved his steak. But the service was phenomenal. Ornela, you’re great! We eat out all the time but it felt like the server cared that we had a great evening for our anniversary. What a great night and thank you Ornela!
