This was a special occasion (birthday) and our son was welcomed with a lovely "Happy Birthday" on arrival and he was brought a fabulous dessert for his birthday treat. The food and service was exceptional as always. Hats off! The last two times we have been seated in the side room and the atmosphere in there was cosy and really warm. However, in the main room, it was slightly less so - there was nothing actually negative but it could have done with a bit more of a buzzy and vibrant atmosphere. It is such a small point but we all felt it should be mentioned.

The Edinburgh Hawksmoor is a beautiful venue, centrally located. The ambience was perfect with low level chatter easily absorbed and dissipated in the room. Service spot on, menu choice-especially the sides-excellent, food was incredible and great value for money given the quality of produce and the location.

Lovely food and attentive staff. Couldn’t manage a 3 rd course but had to have one just to taste. Would definitely recommend

Not the best. Scallops nothing special. Steak not the best and expensive (£112 for 750g). Side of mac n cheese was also poor. Overall won’t rush back have been 3 times previous that were slightly better but gone down hill in my opinion.

Outstanding efficient service with a smile and superb steak and sides. Only gripe is that the Hawksmoor tinned lager at £6 for such a small can is a bit too much. Anyway I can’t wait to go back soon.

Everything was good apart from 1 of our steaks was supposed to be rare to medium but was more medium to well! We did point it out but servers did everything but change it saying it would be 15 mins for a replacement then asked us to continue eating it as it might get better etc etc They did discount us but in our opinion it should have taken from the table and reserved with minimum fuss

Food was amazing, service very good would definitely recommend. Only negative was the overpriced wine. Had the Rioja, was nice but not worth the price. However, wouldn’t stop me from returning for the wonderful food.

As expected, Hawksmoor Edinburgh provided an excellent dining experience from start to finish. Table was ready and although it was only 7pm, there was a good atmosphere. Servers were attentive and friendly throughout. Steaks were superb along with side dishes of mash, chips and garlic mushrooms. Deserts were a treat and rounded off a great meal. Cocktails were also first class. All in all a great experience and we will certainly return.

It was our first visit to Hawksmoor and we loved every aspect of the evening. The welcome and every server were outstanding, matched only by the food. We will definately be back and will recommend it to all our friends. 5*

I came for me and my girlfriends anniversary and the staff couldn’t have made it anymore special, they pulled out all the stops to make sure we had a great night and we will definitely be coming again!

We had a wonderful dining experience. The steaks were all perfectly cooked. Adding the bone marrow as a sauce was incredible. I finally found a great dry Martini, The Botanist, in the UK. The servers were all so helpful and attentive. Good job!

Lovely meal and friendly service. The best steaks in Edinburgh. Would be better if they had larger soft drinks - ie serving 200ml mixer bottle of coke for a regular coke measure which is normally 330ml at £4 each isn’t good value and a bit of a rip off if I’m being frank.

Best steakhouse in town, full stop. Amazing atmosphere, knowledgeable friendly staff and delicious, well presented food. In some restaurants waiting staff can be intrusive or absent. Hawksmoor gets it absolutely right - full kudos to the team. We had a brilliant time and only wish we could dine here more often.

Went for a late Sunday lunch at 15:45 and were disappointed that they had run out of roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese to accompany the excellent beef roast. Waiter Stephen was apologetic and could not have been more helpful. Offered boiled tatties but ordered chips instead. All washed down with their excellent but pricey house Douro. Go earlier on a Sunday if you want the full works!

As always either Hawksmoor, the service was spectacular, the ambiance magical, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Despite having no less than four servers, and the floor being full, each treated me like I was their only concern during my time with them.

My parents treated us to a meal here to celebrate my husband’s 40th and it was a wonderful experience. All of the food tasted amazing, from the bread to the steaks to the sides and cocktails; the staff were friendly, helpful and professional; the ambience was classy and chilled even thought the restaurant was full. Service times were excellent and we never felt rushed. Just a lovely evening and would recommend to anyone.

Chose from new lunch menu. Good additions. Short rib tasty as was the tunworthy melt. Cocktails were good. Stellar service. Wine a little cold so took a while to open up. Wine prices seem to have risen dramatically since last visit so value only good overall.

Lovely restaurant and food was lovely , nice cocktails. Only down side was for the price when ordering a steak everything was extra, all you got was steak and chips.

Great food and excellent service. Sirloin and Ribeye cooked to perfection. Service very professional, remembering nutallergy even if waiter changed, and serving the wine at the right moment after finishing a great drink called Steady Petes, that was very refreshing. Brilliant!

I had the beef pudding which I couldn’t eat after a few bites due to the level of saltiness. People with high blood pressure should steer clear. I was not charged for the dish so Hawksmoor was fair. Other diners had steaks and they all enjoyed it.

We had planned to visit this restaurant for a while having read reviews online. We found the experience a little lack lustre. We were sat beside the kitchen despite the restaurant not being busy. So were subject to staff conversing sometimes unhappily with each other. Our server was excellent and attentive however the restaurant lacked any atmosphere. The steaks were large but disappointing in flavour. We have experienced far superior in other steak restaurants. A bit of anticlimax to our break in Edinburgh.

The food itself was okay, it was quite slow considering the restaurant wasn't busy. We opted for the 2 courses express menu; £25 per head. We also had an alcoholic drink each plus still water for the table. So when the bill arrived and was £150 we were a little shocked. The waiter agreed there was a mistake to return with a bill for £125... Still wrong... After the third attempt it was down to £71 which was correct. We paid with a £75 gift card. The waiter came over with a card machine for £4 as we'd overpaid - we assumed this was a refund only to discover after we left we were charged the £4 😂 yes it's only £4 but jee whizz.

Another great evening at Hawksmoor. Edinburgh was our first time and from reception to leaving we were looked after. Local produced is used where possible so the seafood is a definate must. We will be back…

We had a brilliant evening and the staff were fantastic. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and we didn't feel at all rushed. The food was outstanding.
