They say Yum Cha, but it’s not yum cha. It’s just an over priced Chinese restaurant without enough staff. The staff were very polite, professional and good at their jobs. But they were under staffed. They couldn’t clear a table

The food was amazing. Andy the concierge was very helpful explaining menu. All staff were very attentive and Dominique at the bar would deliver our cocktails and ask for feedback on how he could improve his cocktails even telling my husband about a variation he made up for the expresso Martin. I would highly recommend to go to Hao Chi.

this restaurant is excellent, food is great, service is good,only one thing wrong it is a little expensive for a lot of people. i have been there three times now and recommended it to quite a few people who have gone and really liked it.

We atmosphere is lovely but the staff service is mixed. Some staff were great and very attentive, others seemed to be having more fun with their staff mates than focussing in service. The food was nice overall, but the basic dumplings were served a bit soggy. Would go again, but hope some of the service staff pick up their game.

Classy restaurant with good food and a good ambience. Good place to go if you're looking for something that's tasty and upmarket without the huge upmarket price tag. Staff were attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Last night we were given a larger table than originally on hold for us. Thankyou. Unfortunately service was a little slow compared to previous visits. The staff attending us were very polite and professional. The Mongolian lamb was enjoyed by my husband, and while I enjoyed the satay chicken some pieces could have been sliced a bit smaller. The special rice was lacking a little bit of flavour. The prawn toast was delicious.

Ows … not impressed. We always eat at lee’s charlestown and we are always happy. Food there is a lot better. One of our order was so late that our rice is already cold. Seems like kitchen forgot it. It didn’t came until we asked. But one of the waiters i called said wait coz he is serving another table. So we waited and asked another staff and still waited for another probably 20mins. But theres another table who sat down 30 minutes after us but was served first. Coz that guests where all chinese.

Great food and all came out in a timely fashion. Just a few issues with service - better to have one waiter/waitress as communication can be poor when multiple people asking. Asked for bill at end and waited and waited even when finally went to stand at the payment area!

The food was great- fresh ,tasty and well presented. The waitstaff were fantastic- helpful, attentive and very polite. To help celebrate a birthday, the staff went that extra mile without even being asked.

My wife and I had a very delightful lunch at Hao Chi by Lees Yumcha on Sunday 25th February. The food was amazing, as we have come to expect. The wagyu with black pepper was to die for, as were the prawn and crab dumplings. The service was great from the young, friendly staff. It was the perfect lunch experience, and we will be back to dine there often.

The shanghai dumplings were delicious, I could have eaten a bucket full. The braised pork belly was a 10/10. Great atmosphere and service.

We had the spring rolls and dumplings for entrees then the special fried rice and half duck for main. The food over all was nice. The chicken and cheese spring rolls were a little bland and the friend rice you could tell the vegetables were from a frozen packet.

Food was pretty tasty, but nothing particularly standout, it was certainly expensive for what wasn't anything really different from your local Chinese restaurant. The service was atrocious though. Felt like we were actively being ignored. We had to get up multiple times just to get the attention of someone to order more food/drinks. It was even a battle to pay. You can do better in Newcastle, wouldn't recommend.

It was a middlingly busy Sunday - When we arrived, half the tables had folk at them, but we were ignored when we first arrived for a good 7 min while others came in and backed up behind us. Eventually a harried wait person acknowledged our presence. We had booked and included instructions, as one of our party is elderly with mobility issues, so we were offered a booth that was could not fit her and her walker. So then we then had to wait whilst another table was cleared away and cleaned, despite detailing in booking requirements that we would need things to be accessible. There was no evidence of a table being reserved for us. It is clear that there were not enough wait staff scheduled on and the bar was full of uncleared glasses, whilst tables were dirty and uncleared all over the place. It took a long time for menus to come to the table, drinks were slow and food delivered in dribs and drabs that did not make for a relaxing lunch out. It was supposed to be Yum Cha and they delivered 1 serving of dumplings at a time, so we all had to share 4 dumplings between 5 and then wait another 10 minutes for the next 4 dumplings. With 2 hungry children this was agony. The whole scenario took so long, we actually ended up taking some of it home as take away due to the torturous nature of the experience. The ambience was loud and clattery with the tiled floor bouncing all the dish clattering noise and people talking, so much that we almost had to yell at each other... adding to the din. Despite the food being good, the overall experience was so painful, I would recommend this as a place you would go to with alot of people who secretly hate - you won't have to suffer polite conversation because you won't be able to hear them, and you know that they will be starved in the process, while they all try to not act like vultures when Yum Cha servings are delivered to your your table one by one. If I could give Zero stars I would.

The staff were completely oblivious to the customers. You had to wave a red flag to get their attention and when you finally got their attention, you wished you hadn’t.

Outstanding food, well appointed restaurant, and welcoming and friendly staff. In fact the service is what ultimately sets this venue apart. A great destination for a celebration but also relaxed.

(Excerpt from email to friend) Last night we had early dinner at Hao Chi (was Chinoise). Stand out dish was Scallops in pastry with sauce, excellent, stir fried vegetables also very good, pork belly was a bit disappointing, but wine prices reasonable. Service was a little over the top, maybe trying too hard!
