We are a two-level speakeasy (hidden bar) with a high-end cocktail menu. Our head bartender is Eric van Beek, from the Netherlands, and was selected as the best bartender in the world in the cocktail contest of Bacardi Legacy in 2018.

Our experience exists out of a two-level experience. Regular reservations start upstairs and then have the opportunity if they wish to experience the downstairs space. Dimmed lightning, lively atmosphere and high-quality drinks. Compromiso provides an entirely different menu than our initial upstairs experience.

* We have a tolerance of 15 minutes, if we haven't received any notification we are forced to give the table away.

El lugar es bueno, me parece que el chico de la puerta debería tener un poco más de tacto al hablar con las personas, sonreír es súper importante, el recibir a un cliente con una sonrisa y una verdadera hospitalidad es muy importante, no me agrado mucho que el tiempo para estar ahí te lo limitan. Las bebidas son una delicia, nuestro mixologo fue súper amable y profesional , su nombre es Damián Villanueva, siemore sonriente , amable , servicial y muy hospitalario . Agradezco mucho que tuvieron la atención al detalle en la reserva por open Table y me sorprendieron con una amenidad por mi cumpleaños

Fui 2 veces en Handshake, la primera una experiencia incrible, bartander muy atencioso, drinks y comida buenisimas. Pero en la segunda vez una decepcion, los drinks y comida ayun perfectos, pero la mesa muy chiquita para 4 personas, donde no eras posible poner todos los platitos y vasos, y lo atendimiento muy lento, ya que tiene solo 90 minutos para desfrutar, y también muy distinto de la primera experiencia, donde la mesera no eras agradable en atendimento.

Muy interesante y divertido, no recomendado para grupos de más de 6, el lugar es pequeño. Los tragos son toda una experiencia y sorpresa, una vez dentro el servicio el excelente, tienen menú de alimentos pero tienes que pedirlo porque no lo ofrecen, nosotros nos enteramos al final.

The food and drinks were fantastic. And the service while there was very good - all staff were lovely. But the 90 minute rule is a bit tight and we felt like they just wanted to move us along. Also could have done without the Japanese restaurant style all-staff greeting and goodbye. Not very speak-easy. But still worth trying for the high quality drinks alone.

First and foremost our reservation wasn’t respected. We had a 7:45 reservation and suddenly it was modified to 6:15 and we couldn’t make it at that time. We showed up to the bar (there was no way to contact them) and asked to respect our booking time and they said it was impossible given they were full at that time. We were forced to modify our reservation to 10:30pm, we arrived and there was a queue to get in, regardless of having a reservation or not and had to wait 35 mins to be seated. We wanted to leave but couldn’t given the no show fee they have and would possibly charge us. Once inside we were notified that we had 90 mins to consume, and there were several empty tables around us. The only positive side were the cocktails, ordered 5 different cocktails and they were all great, left immediately, the ambiance is plain, unappealing. Wouldn’t go back, the entire experience lacks fanfare, lacks speakeasy vibe and the service is just basic.

Coming from the service and hospitality industry, I can really appreciate when I can see a team truly working together and making sure everyone is having an amazing experience. I wish I remembered his name specifically a tall light skin gentleman, and was so kind to me and even recommended me drinks and that I loved. The ambience is amazing and the drinks speak for themselves.

No nos gustó mucho. Quizá porque íbamos con la expectativa de un lugar mucho más silencioso (la música es muy fuerte). Las bebidas tampoco nos gustaron tanto. El servicio muy bueno.

This feels a bit of a tourist trap. We did enjoy the cocktails but felt they were pretty over priced considering they are all pre mixed. Some other reviewers say drinks are watered down, but we didn't experience that.

As a bartender in NYC, I've been dying to check Handshake out for a few years. I'm happy to report that the experience did not disappoint. The aesthetics were very sleek. The playlist was incredible. The service from entry to exit was spot on. The cocktails were visually appealing and well balanced. Thank you Handshake for the lovely experience

Todo perfecto solo que su manera de presionar que tienes 1:30 hrs es nefasta. Con lugares vacíos y no puedes entrar antes ni salir después aunque quieras pedir más, deberían de cambiar eso

Handshake itself and the staff inside are amazing, a must go if you like cocktails. But they have a separate worse bar (compromiso) they try to send Handshake reservations when they are busy. Instead of being open about being busy, the host will be rude, lie, and say they are the same bar—even though Compromiso does not have the cocktails that won Handshake all its awards. Just tell the host you’ll wait for the upstairs and you will be seated pretty quick. Once you are inside the team and the drinks are amazing.

First time here & the drinks are a bit overpriced for a fixed menu. Half way into our reservation staff hardly checked in on us and we left feeling like they start strong and finish extremely poor in service. For being THE top bar in North America I was not amazed.

OpenTable should unequivocally remove Handshake Speakeasy from its service. They are utilising a secondary space which is NOT the same bar, misrepresenting it as such, that by all accounts is inferior. Drinks are all clarified (pre-made), and this secondary “bar” is nothing more than a fraudulent cash grab. An abysmal experience!!
