The food is always wonderful with so much flavor. It is nicely served. The menu is not overly large, but there is plenty of variety to appeal to many different tastes. Service is friendly and impeccable. Very attentive but not pushy. Our water glasses were never empty. The interior is comfortable and pleasing. We will be back when in town.

Disapointed. Food was good,but fluke was overcooked. We had that in addition to the tasting menu. Two items (dumplings and shrimp) were cold. Biggest complaint is that we were served the tasting menu in what seemed like 15 min - the entire thing. I've never been so rushed in a restaurant ever. No explanation of each course, which is usually the case with tasting menus - rush,rush rush. We both had the same thing - but one duck leg? If only one of us had ordered the tasting mentu, do you get half a duck confit?? Should we have each gotten one? Sauses standard vietnamese,but good. pretty restaurant - but no French viet touches, no map or photos of vietname like you might expect. had the opportunity to be a really cool design with french viet design to git the menu/menu essay, but failed. Simple plywood in main area. Chef's section where we sat too crowded. Except for overcooked fluke - their signature dish which we ordered just to try in addition to the tasting menu, food was good. The fish arrived within 3 min of ordering like it had already been cooked - which was fine - except that maybe sitting under the warmer it became overcooked and dried out. I do a better fried whole fluke at home. At $68 when you can buy one fresh and uncooked for under $20 was a ripoff. Also, the apple snails: We thought we'd have something like escargot, but viet style. Instead, it was some snail/pork moose where I suspect there was little snail. Apparently the snails arrive in cans or jars - not live. We thought that was an unusual item and looked forward to getting it, but was disapointed. Nosy place, but that was OK. Surprized no special pho on the menu.

The food was wonderful and the vibe was a lot of fun. But the service is unpolished. The waiters are hurried and don’t hide it well. They drop food on your table without explaining what to do with it (wrap this in that and dip in this). You have to stop them to ask, then they give a snippy reply (leaving you feel like you should know this anyway) and hurry off. You stop them again to ask what the leaves are a platter and they’re like “oh, Thai basil and lettuce” ignoring the three other herbs that you actually want to know about. I hope the service matures.

My only complaint is that they didn't have enough types of white wine chilled and ready to go. Something about when they get the wine in etc.

Food is always great here We had a wonderful meal for our 42nd wedding anniversary at our favorite restaurant. The calamari and octopus are always perfectly tender and the wings papaya salad crab fried rice and curry are always good

The meals were very flavorful. As a half Vietnamese person. I thought they were pretty close to authentic food but with a twist of westernized style. I would say definitely worth the experience. Special mention for the server who advises us very well for the wine pairing and the dessert. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Absolutely flawless meal from the perfect cocktail to the mind-blowing dessert. As a professional chef I know how challenging a busy dinner service can be, but the whole experience was seamless. The menu was conceived beautifully, and we could taste the attention and love that went into every bite. Would certainly be a regular customer if I lived here.

3rd time in the last year because the food & service are fantastic every time. The Fluke is amazing, eggplant has superb flavors, and the rice pudding…well don’t miss it.

My best friend (soon to be mommy) and I had dinner at the Chef’s counter and we absolutely enjoyed it. All of the food, service, and attention from the chefs, waiters, & bus boys made us feel extra special. After our dinner, we indulged in 4 different desserts and we could not pick a favorite. The entire meal and experience was top notch. I cannot wait to return!

It was a perfect evening! The room is warm, contemporary, and inviting; the music, chill; the service (shout out to Liz), spot on (as if the team anticipated our needs); cocktails, delish; and have I mentioned the food: glorious, flavorful, fresh, artful, craveable. We can’t wait to dine with Team HaiSous again!!!

Wonderful meal! May I suggest adding another Gruner or Riesling to the wine menu (not so fond of the existing one). Perhaps a reasonable offering from Emile Beyer, as was offered at Embeya in the old days…

We arrived 10 minutes late and had called to inform about our late arrival . When we arrived the hostess said we had 65 minutes to complete our meal because our table was dedicated to somebody else . Regardless, who allocates 75 minutes for a dinner reservation at a restaurant that aims to be fancy? This put a complete rush on our dinner experience which happened to a mysurprise for my husbands birthday dinner . We were not able to enjoy the food and the tasting menu the way we had planned !

What a great experience at HaiSous. They have the best food especially when it is gluten free. I was looking forward to visit and it was so worth it! We ordered Crispy Calamari Octopus Salad Grilled seafood platter Crab fried rice Grilled eggplants Chinese broccoli and finished with cream puffs. All were delicious and full of flavor. Will definitely go back!

I can not speak highly enough about this restaurant. Our first time coming here I proposed to my now wife. We came back here as it was the 1 year anniversary of my proposal and 1 month anniversary of being married. We were so excited to come back, and when our server (Liz) came to our table she paused and said she remembered us and then clicked that she was who helped me with the proposal one year ago. We were blown away that she remembered. Beyond that though, the food here is incredible. We got to try the grilled meat platter, which they did not have when we were here last. By far though, the wings are the best thing on the menu. That's not to take away from anything else, but I have been dreaming about these wings since last year. If you come here, do yourself a favor and make sure to get one order or the wings. The staff at HaiSous are just as incredible as the chefs. If you are looking for quality Vietnamese food, you will not find anywhere better to go in Chicago.

We got charged $30 extra for 2 of our parties not showing up after they got sick and diagnosed with Covid. We still dropped $600 for dinner but I guess not good enough! Will never go back there again .

This is our third time at HaiSous and we'll continue coming back for sure. The papaya salad and clams were great. The chicken wings to die for. Vegetable curry is always good. Chinese broccoli and eggplant were amazing.
