Delicious! This is my favorite location in LA. Great service and the staff is very friendly. Quality meats. We didn’t do all you can eat but that looked like a pretty good deal!

Great ambiance. Staff seemed to lack a bit. Male waiter stationed at the window did not answer to wave down even though eye contact was made many times. Female waitresses were more attentive. Harami Skirt Steak and Beef Tongue were super tasty. Desserts at the end of AYCE is a plus.

I've had Gyu-Kaku in Japan Mainland China and Hong Kong. First time trying it in the US and I like it very much. The price is reasonable and considerably cheap for LA but the food is fantastic. Would recommend. The only thing is it does not have the nori seaweed bbq sauce rice that the stores in other countries have, but the rice here is also good.

Rice was terribly overcooked, unacceptable from a Japanese restaurant. White rice was so uncooked to the point it resembled mochi. Do NOT eat at this location for the love of god. If you can’t get simple Japanese white rice right then I have no hope for the rest of your dishes.

The original Japanese bbq experience. Monday night happy hours used to be the “go-to” dinner out, but once you’ve tried it, not much to bring you back again and again. The food quality has diminished and it’s a little funky at times. Overall, have loved it for many years so maybe I’ve just evolved and Guy-Kaku has not.

We got the pre-set meal for six. There was plenty of food for all of us, and it was all delicious. We actually took enough leftovers for a couple of lunches. Parking was easy in the pre-pay lot a few doors down.

Great dining experience. Love all the food there. I go weekly. I love the Hirami Skirt Steak, Zucchini, Cheese Corn, Mushrooms, Spinach, and Garlic Noodles with Chicken and Calamari, and Edamame. The S’more’s are a great way to end the meal.

Great food and usually great service. Server had an issue with inputting our dishes and charged us $20 more without telling us her mistake until she had taken the card.

This was my first time at one of these restaurants. It was such a great experience, it’s very well organized and the staff is super efficient with time. Definitely recommend!

Came for a date night and had bad experience, I went few times to few different locations and that is the one that I'll try to avoid going. We reserve a table couple hours earlier and expected to be notified about friar that isn't working tonight and includes almost 20% of the menu. The host was not pleasant, server was nice, although the Adamame we ordered was cold, we requested to warm it up and received the same dish. Tables are very close to one another and in case loud people are next to you it makes the experience extra uncomfortable. I wouldn't suggest going to this location. I would recommend trying the one in North Hollywood

There is a “must try” menu, which was includes “gyu sushi”, which is essentially rice draped with rare or raw beef (instead of some form of seafood). It’s part of the Chef’s Choice menu, and they were out of it before 6:00 pm. We got a free beer instead, which doesn’t seem like a comparable substitute for four pieces of gyu zushi. Of course we weren’t told about this until after the food had arrived and we asked where the rest of it was. The grill was too hot to cook the beef properly, and we couldn’t even have a conversation lest the meat turned to charcoal under our noses. I guess it’s ok for students, but places like Tokyo Kalbi, or the numerous Korean Yakiniku places in Los Angeles, have better service and are more attentive, if only a little bit costlier.

Servers are always friendly and hustling around. Food is consistently good. Great neighborhood spot for many years now.

We went to happy hour to order a set menu. Meat is good but their rice was very bad, very dry as if they didn’t put water when they cook. Absolutely not the way the Japanese restaurant cook the rice. The service is good but they have never asked us to change the meat cooking net. Usually, any Japanese BBQ restaurant asks you if we need to change the net after cooking some meat.

I've been dining here for 22 years @Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. I am one of the original patrons that has been coming since then. My sister-in-law at the time in 2001 wanted us to be her guinea pigs and see if it was any good. I remember lines were always out the door and it would be an hour and a half wait because they didn't take reservations. It was like that for a long time. I had a great time at this location. We did the AYCE and it was well worth it. Had no problem getting attention of a server to put more orders in, and everyone was very helpful without being overbearing. My boyfriend likes to cook everything himself, they were very mindful of how we were eating, changing grills, etc. Fun spot. Yes, it’s smokey but no more than any other bbq place.

Server was very friendly and helpful. Efficiently served and empty plates removed promptly. Garlic noodle was amazing! All the meats were delicious except chicken was boring. Great bang for the buck. Combo for four people was perfect for us. Ventilation needs improvement, was very smoky throughout interior of restaurant.
