First time and it was awesome but make sure you make reservations otherwise you will have to wait . We had reservations at 7 and walked right in . The food was excellent and so was the service .

Our server was friendly, quick, and helpful, and he didn't try to tell us or enforce any rules, which I really appreciated. More importantly, when he took a break, another girl immediately introduced herself as a temp replacement, and she was truly around as much as he was for us - that was impressive. We went with the Suprême option, and the prime Kalbi short rib was so good. There were a few dishes that wasn't that good, but no one cared when we could just try something else immediately. Will be coming back with my entire family next time!

We were not expecting much and that was a really good surprise. The meat is actually better than other way more expensive Asian bbqs around!

Food was great but the cocktail drinks like Tokyo Peach tasted terrible! That need to be improvised or maybe we should just get water.

I have tried every location in the Houston and greater area and the Memorial location consistently has short comings. Be it the cleanliness, noise level where I'm seated, staff's punctuality with orders or drink refills, chefs in the back having items ready (like my garlic fried rice which took 20 minutes to get out to me) and in some areas seating is uncomfortable — this time could have been given a bit more grace considering it was the weekend of not only a promotional event but also the weekend of a big corporate holiday that encourages going out to eat. My biggest complaint this time around, though, is that both myself and my partner ended up getting severely sick after eating here. Considering this is a "cook your own meat" experience, it's possible that it fell on us as the cooks, as a regular customer/cook at Gyu-Kaku (as well as a home chef) it's also possible something was contaminated in the establishment. (Note: our dining experience consisted exclusively of beef products. No poultry, no fish, no pork, no shrimp. The meats were also the only thing we both ate, aside from the Yuzu lemonades)
