Everytime we go to the Grill we have a terrific experience. As usual Hugo selected a terrific Cain 5 wine. Chris has provided table service before many times. As usual again Chris was terrific. Harder and harder to get into Boston - traffic everywhere. But worth the time and effort.

Best steakhouse in Boston. The appetizers, seafood, steaks, and entrees are impeccable. The service is top-notch and the atmosphere is a lively and elegant steakhouse. Highly recommend for all special occasions. This is the place to go for a meal that you know will not disappoint.

For a place with such a reputation, the food was just okay. Nothing terribly special. The horseradish I paid $20 for in addition to the $70 steak was incredibly disappointing and tasteless. The ambiance was not particularly special either. Dining tables too close together. Too much of other people. It has an assembly feel to the place. Service was acceptable. The waiter tried folding my companions’ napkins which should never be allowed (the server said she was required to). No one should touch another person’s napkin with their unwashed hands. It’s too gross. Also, if the management is so keen on etiquette, they should learn that fork and knife at 4:00 all the way on the plate means I’m done and you can take the plate without interrupting our conversation.

The service was very good . We enjoyed the atmospheric of the restaurant. Three of us got steaks and they came out under cooked . I would have expected better for a bill that was close to$700 including tip

We never miss an opportunity to dine at Grill 23 when travelling to Boston. Great ambience on the main floor with exceptional service. Perfect place for a martini and a great meal. A must when you’re in Boston!

Everything was outstanding except that although I asked for a quiet table and was seated at one, they seated a party with an infant right next to me. Don’t hesitate to complain if this happens to you.

We enjoyed a festive birthday dinner for an adult. The crisp calimari were delicious and enough to share with the each of the four of us. The steaks were superior, and the mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, fries, coconut cake, and crême brulie were each distinctive. The birthday man is not a sweet eater, so his dessert was tuna tartare with candle—"a classic pairing,"quipped the server. we were sorry about the speed with which food was whipped away—the bread basket and butter before any food had arrived, the ketchup before the fries were done, and the mishearing of a glass of wine instead of the the cocktail that had been first for that guest. I suppose we could have mentioned any of these items, but the bread and butter were gone, the second cocktail was fine, the ketchup was gone, but as fine as the servers were, it was a little disappointing that the rapid service had the side result of mistakes. Perhaps they were a little quick for making space on the large table, although we had plenty of room. That said, the whole evening was overwhelming delightful, positive, and an evening to remember with great pleasure.

We had an excellent meal. A very special thank you and acknowledgment to Tori Testa, the manager last evening, who was so kind and responsible and made our evening with special friends extremely memorable. Tori went above and beyond to correct a special request. I also want to recommend Benji who was our delightful server. His attentiveness was greatly appreciated. We will definitely make Grill 23 our new favorite.

It was a busy Saturday night and a bit loud. The prime rib was great, wry good cut of meat. Cooked appropriately but a bit dry. Porterhouses were a disappointing, especially given the cost. Wedge salad and asparagus were very good as was the lobster.

The host, server (Mac) and Maitre'D were all very attentive and courteous. I had requested a table close to the entrance and mentioned it was my dad's birthday and the staff had clearly read my opentable message as they gave us a lovely table close to the entrance and wrote Happy Birthday on his dessert, a very much appreciated touch! Grill 23 has been an old favorite of ours for special celebrations and holidays over the years. The last time we went was a few years ago and the prices had been increased significantly. This time, we were celebrating my dad's 90th birthday and we decided to splurge, but the prices had gone up even more ($90 for an 18-ounce ribeye). The ribeye was extremely salty - I am a salt lover, but the last time we came to Grill 23 I mentioned to the server that it was oversalted and he said that the chef may have accidentally thrown too much salt on, but this time it was the same. I could barely taste the meat itself due to the salt. The Maitre'D did come by to ask how we were enjoying our meal and I did not mentioned the oversalting problem - I am not one to send food back, ever and do not like to complain, but have to be honest in my review. The french fries were alright, not crunchy - a bit on the soggy side and the bread was also just OK, not warm, etc. Presentation was top notch. We ordered 1 tuna appetizer, 1 caesar salad, 2 glasses of red wine ($13 and $18), 2 ribeyes, 1 filet mignon and 1 cappuccino and the bill came to $500 including tip. Excessive. I really like the environment and the service, but the food did not merit the cost unfortunately.

I wanted my client to experience a Boston iconic restaurant known for its steaks. Fe my past visits I knew we cannot eat a whole steak each so we asked to split a rib eye. The kitchen split the steak and the plate served had a thin, small piece of steak about 6 ozs each, over cooked, over salted and grisly. I was disappointed and embarrassed. I did not mind paying $90 for a top quality steak but what we got was below par. I don’t understand how they got it so wrong when my previous experiences were always reliable.

Love this restaurant! The food is excellent and the service is phenomenal. We discovered this restaurant on our last visit to Boston and had to go back this time. It’s expensive, but well worth it. Must try the warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert. They’re exceptional!

Our party of 3 was seated next to a round table of 10-12 young people. We requested a change which the maitre d' was kind to attend to. We were seated in a room with 2 table for 4-6. There was a couple at the other table-fine. Then 3 more people came with 2 small children. All were noisy to the point where the elderly woman in our party asked them to speak quieter. One of the young men was outright rude and rather hostile. The Caesar Salad was not up to par. The Steak was great as usual. The clientele-don't people dress to dine in the City anymore????? So sad to see the jeans & t-shirt crowd invade a traditionally "smart" restaurant.

This restaurant came HIGHLY recommended and it was disappointing. If you are headed to this restaurant make sure to ask to be seated in n the main dining room. We were ushered to a back banquet type room where it felt like we were at a wedding dinner. Food arrived cold - both soup and entree. Service was ok and our waiter was very nice.

The crust in one of the steaks was way too charred and made it almost inedible. Other than that, all good. Great wine list.

The wait staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. Our meal was delicious, and the wine was great. The atmosphere is very nice, my only complaint is the acoustics make it a bit noisy. Would definitely go here again.

Outstanding & excellent. Everything was prepared perfectly. Service was exemplary. Only complaint would be the noise level.

We started at the bar and had a drink. The bartender was excellent. We moved to our table and had a fabulous time. Our Server, Connor, was outstanding in every capacity.
