Nestled in the heart of downtown Sarasota, Green Zebra Cafe on Main offers a warm, casual atmosphere, exceptional service and delicious food to share with family and friends. With a focus on pure, wholesome, and locally-sourced ingredients, both of our Brunch and Dinner menus are carefully crafted to reflect our customers dietary requirements.

Our everyday Brunch menu features a long list of all time favorites such as, Omelettes Your Way, Italian Benedict, Our Famous Raw Pancake, and our Lavender-Blueberry pancakes. As well as, organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies and acai bowls.

Our dinner menu highlights both plant-based cuisine as well as dishes with ethically raised meats and sustainable seafood. Some of our most popular dishes are the Salt-roasted Golden Beets for starters, Chicken Veloute or the Raw Vegan Lasagna as Entrees, and our mouth watering gluten-free vegan cheesecakes for dessert.

While the food was outstanding - as indicated by the rating given - the service was absolutely abysmal. Our seating for Mother’s Day was early and the restaurant was 10-15% occupied. We waited nearly 10 minutes for our waiter to initially show up. We did receive water from the host, but that was all as we waited. Our meals arrived approximately 45 minutes after we placed the order. This was what really caused the low service rating. During the meal, we had one visit from the waiter and that was it. I cannot imagine what the service would be like on a busy night or shift. Perhaps they were short staffed during our visit? Or there was an issue in the kitchen that caused the long delay? No information was provided to us so we were left to conclude that the restaurant finds their service acceptable. Again, it is very unfortunate that the service was below what I feel is appropriate. The food was fantastic and the presentation was on par with my expectations. Would I return? Perhaps….

The chef-owner is a FlavorQueen! For groups with both dedicated vegans and non-vegans, there are creative delicious menu choices for all. It was impressive and delicious and fun all rolled into one package. Weordered two kinds of tacos, an incredible salmon tartare, stuffed beets for appetizers. All were creative and well prepared and downright good. We hada chicken, a fish, and a veggie mushroom pasta that was multilayers of flavor. There was nothing “meh” about this mealor experience. Theyjust got a liquor license and needto work on catching the menu up to their offerings but that is a detail that will be worked out over time.

This was our first time at the Green Zebra Cafe and we chose it because a member of our group is vegan. They have a nice selection of vegetarian, vegan and meat/seafood dishes. The presentation of each the entrees was beautiful Overall, we all felt like we ate clean and healthy. The mix of flavors was delicious and complimentary. We all enjoyed our entrees and the wine, a pinot noir from Chile, was very good. The desserts were amazing (highly recommend the key lime pie)! Our server was very friendly and helpful - she made recommendations and answered our questions. We ate outside and we had a lovely time. We will go definitely go back!

The appetizers and main course were delicious and plated beautifully. Dessert was subpar. The flavors were lacking. The service needs to be addressed. Our drinks took an incredibly long time to arrive and the server really wasn’t available for refills and had an unpleasant demeanor. The food is overall recommended but the service may deter a return visit.
