Grand Amari is a traditional Italian dining destination inspired by the food traditions of Italy, fine Italian wine, and amaro. We are working with pasture raised proteins, seasonal local organic produce, and highlighting the quality of handmade products. Simplicity and care in our approach is key. Start your evening off by perusing our extensive wine list while enjoying a platter of scallop crudo with a glass of grower Champagne. Follow that with our delicate handmade agnolotti or squid ink bucatini, then indulge in grass fed bistecca alla fiorentina or salt crusted branzino. Don't forget to get a bottle of Barolo with your bistecca! Wrap up your dinner with an array of Italian desserts and our indulgent amaro cart and menu.

Had a business dinner at Grand Amari last night and it was FANTASTIC! We did the "family style" menu where the chef chooses and courses the menu out for the table. It was amazing- appetizers, veggies, pasta, meats, sea food, desert-- pasta was freshly made and herbs and aromatics were plentiful in every dish. Our server was also the wine som-- she made perfect recommendations. It was a business dinner where we all left as friends and the restaurant and the staff really made the difference! And the price was very reasonable! Wish I had taken pictures!

Simply fantastic. Took a party of 8 there last night and had the chef pick our selections and serve family style. Wow. Authentic and diverse selection…Italy in downtown Portland. Wait staff was very attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous. Pasta was homemade and perfectly cooked. You must try this

Absolutely terrible customer service. We were so excited to try their delicious looking food for the first time, but did not get the chance due to poor communication. Do not book a reservation that is past 9:30pm. They close at 10, but have reservations open for 9:30pm AND 9:45pm. Got there a few minutes late and they closed the entire restaurant unbeknownst to me. Gave the reason being that they close at 10pm and they have a grace period where then the head manager made the call to just shut down. So basically, they didn’t close until 10, but closed their restaurant EARLY at 9:45pm, mind you there was an open reservation at 9:45pm. They need to pull these times to be booked if they are not going to live up to them and cancel on you w/o reaching out. Given how poorly the situation was handled, I probably will never try again.

Every detail of our dinner was perfect. Excellent staff included someone extremely knowledgable about Italian wines, and a waiter who was attentive without hovering. And the food!! Homemade pastas were delectable. We love, LOVED our meal! Best one in a long time.

The Grand Amari Italian restaurant is located at the Grand Stark Hotel. They have an extensive list of liquor, wines, and Amari. Our server was friendly and attentive. My husband and I shared the Focaccia bread with whipped anchovy butter, which was delicious. The albacore crudo with pistachio was just okay, but the Panzanella con burrata with spring vegetables and walnuts was tasty. For dinner, my husband loved the rib eye steak with arugula and smashed roasted potatoes. I didn't like my spaghetti with clams and anchovies; the clams were a bit salty and the dish was too fishy for me. They have a fun wine list, and we ordered the Abraham from Northern Italy. I didn't try the Amari flight since we had so much wine, but the Cardamaro I ordered was light and sweet.

Wonderful experience all around!!! Food was amazing, my mocktail drink was great, service was very attentive , all in all, a fantastic restaurant. Only complain, the AC from the hotel was too strong!

We enjoyed our dinner a lot, pasta Bolognese and a steak. It was very quiet, not too many people. Service good and pleasant. My green salad greens were a little bitter for my taste but dressing good. Menu a little limited, but do hope to go again.
