Since opening its doors in 1984 Gotham has received a record six 3-star reviews from the New York Times. After closing alongside the pandemic for 18 months, in November of 2021 a renovated Gotham was reopened by new ownership, longtime Managing Partner Bret Csencsitz and environmentalist Kevin Conrad, with former pastry chef Ron Paprocki taking over the iconic kitchen. Redesigned by its original architect James Biber, Gotham is filled with a vibrant collection of contemporary art by established and emerging artists. A new library and lounge expand the bar experience, while Chef Paprocki's spectacular new menu is being heralded as equally approachable and unforgettable.

Ever since you reopened, the food has been exquisite. The earlier years when it was GB&G, the different chefs never really found themselves. Since the reopening and the re-emergence of the original chef, I think, the food is back to its glory as it was 15 years ago. Regardless, service has always remained superlative. I do miss the complimentary exquisite breads, intermezzo and after dinner edibles though.

I feel Gotham has lost a little of its former glory. The restaurant did not have the "chic" element that use to have, the main room felt a little "sterile", it is not the 'hot" place that it used to be. The food was still very good, however in my opinion the price was a little on the high side for what you get.

Went on a Monday evening. Ghost town…entire restaurant almost empty. Food and service were fine. But hardly anyone there. They were taking candles off the tables by 8:30 pm.

The food is really special and delicious. Even menu items that are widely available have added attention making them unique. Try the eggs Benedict- so good! We also enjoyed the jazz brunch.

always treated graciously and usually get specified seated requested when reserving. restaurant responded with request to stock preferred gin Botanist. restaurant offer varied but interesting menu and seeks to improve, as demonstrated by the revised fois gras. service is generally attentive, though can lag a bit during busy periods.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Gotham. Celebrating the restaurants' 40th Anniversary with an incredible DJ set by Beverly Bond was the cherry on top. The food was pretty good and the service was great as well. I would recommend this restaurant.

Sunday brunch: Eggs Benedict delicious. Service at the bar impeccable and friendly. Lovely cocktail and wine lists. Comfortable and perfect for brunch, and any other visits as well. My favorite.

We enjoyed a fabulous jazz brunch on Easter Sunday! What a treat! So many wonderful choices on the menu! The wine list was well crafted and had some rare and impressive choices. The jazz band was so enjoyable and not at all intrusive on our conversations and the staff was a joy. It was my first time back since Alfred Portale left and the renovation of the space is just spectacular. Airy and fresh, with tables that are roomy by New York restaurant standards and not on top of one another. Can't wait to go back!

We are lucky enough to get to NYC from western Canada every couple of years. My wife, brother and niece (party of 4) attended on March 24. From the initial greeting from Joesph at the front of house who inquired (quite presciently it turns out), “what’s taken you so long to try us?”, we were in for a wonderful evening. Joesph was charming and welcoming — a harbinger for the service we would enjoy from Abdou (primary server) and Marcelo (secondary server). Both were engaged, friendly and witty. The food was exceptional - generous (but not huge) servings. Thoughtful presentation and complex flavors. Critically, the chef understands that the food has to taste good. And it does! We had a variety of starters at the table and tried three of the mains. All were fantastic. The halibut main course was special and the risotto that is served with the lobster is one of the best risottos we have ever had and had us discussing the flavors well into the evening. A nice wine list (we had a Chablis that was quite good) if a little a marked up (it is still NYC, I guess). The cocktail list discloses some interesting takes — obviously, a bit of time has been taken in curating a thoughtful cocktail program. All the cocktails we tried struck the right balance and were quite good. Prices are what you would expect from a higher end restaurant in NYC, but less than the next tier up of celebrity chef restaurants. We really don’t have an answer to Joseph’s question — other than we are going to make up for our delay. We will be going back one more time before we leave NYC. Highly recommended!

Gotham was very good and friendly staff. The prices were high, especially wine by the bottle! The lowest priced bottle of red was $100! They should add some lower priced wines.

Simply one of the best places to eat in NY. Wonderful, friendly service. Terrific menu, world class bar. If you’re looking for relaxed elegance and great food you can’t do better. Perfect for any kind of meal and special occasions.
