Ate here for Omaha's restaurant week with limited menu. Chose the caesar salad which sadly lacked much caesar flavor. Glad I had them leave off the red onion but should have also had them remove bacon and tomatoes. Threw off the caesar flavor. Had the bone in Riley with some sort of whipped potatoes. Both were good. The steak had a bit more gristle than I thought it would, but still was good. The bread pudding was very good and recommend it. The decor was drastically lacking. Thought I was in a 1980's business office. It was very hardtop talk amongst the three of us due to how loud the restaurant. Not relaxing or pleasant. Server was busy but friendly and kept drinks filled. I expected more but glad I checked it out once.

This is my go to steakhouse when I travel to Omaha. The entire table was loved their meal and service. As long as I travel to this this city I will always have a meal here.

If you are under 60 this is not the place for you. It is EXTREMELY dated and the interior has the old-timey feeling like it hasn’t been updated since 1950 when it was in its prime. It is not a charming old. Just OLD. We should have known better and just left before we sat down and ordered. But no. Hindsight is 20/20. We first ordered two appetizers because it was during happy hour. The server made us move places in the restaurant to the “lounge” to get the discount. That was strange. Then both appetizers were TERRIBLE (undercooked soft almost raw calamari) and flavorless steak bites that were tough and literally had no seasoning. Then to make things worse, when we paid at the end they didn’t give us half off. It was maybe $2-4 off the advertised price, but not half price as advertised. Our main meal of T-bone steak was fine. But nothing special. Then when we paid they automatically added a 20% gratuity (it said “Large Party gratuity”) in the note. What???? It was just me and my husband. :( The server was a sweet younger woman and we didn’t have the heart to make a stink. But it was literally the worst dining experience my husband and I have EVER had. This restaurant should close down. And this is the first negative restaurant review I have ever ver written. I am not generally a complainer. So—save yourself $140 and a VERY bad experience and go somewhere else.

Sara, we are so sorry to hear you had a bad experience. We assure you that if you had mentioned an issue with any of your food, we would have replaced it immediately. It appears you may have found an old advertisement for Happy Hour; we have not had half-priced apps since Covid, all current ads state it's only available in our Lounge area as well. The large party gratuity is very unfortunate and would have been removed per your request. The server accidentally labeled the size of your party as 12 instead of 2. Your server is new and made a mistake, for which we apologize. We wish we would have been given an opportunity to remedy your evening, then maybe you wouldn't think so poorly of us and our historic building. As we have no intention to close down, we hope you give us another chance.

Came here because an employee wanted to go to Warren Buffet’s favorite steakhouse. It was good; much like I expected.

While ordering, a mistake was made on my wife’s order. When the meals were brought out, my wife was given something she did not order. It was returned and after awhile, a new plate was given. She was comped a free dessert for the error which was appreciated. Our server, Liz, was very sweet and did her best and we were pleased. Salads were very simple made with iceberg lettuce. The steaks were very good; ribeyes and a filet minion. They were grilled as requested. This was our very first visit to a historic steakhouse and one recommended by Warren Buffet. Classic describes this place. Creaky floors and patterned ceiling and old fragrance and music that seemed piped in from another era. A funky natural gas odor greeted us as we entered.. nothing dangerous. Overall I’m glad we chose to visit this classic restaurant which says Omaha to us.

Food and staff were wonderful. Noise from adjoining room was quite loud. Wish there were doors instead of curtains. Very good food we have been going to the old restaurants and the food at Gorats was the best. Thank you for a very nice night.

We were celebrating a lot last night and Gorat’s didn’t disappoint. Steaks and scampi, cocktails, service was all outstanding. Highly recommend.
