This was one of the worst restaurants I have been to in awhile. The service was incredibly slow, the food came out and seemed as if it had been sitting for awhile, and the overall experience was unpleasant. I will not be going back here

Skip the Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches were not fresh. The bread was dry. Not all the teas on the menu were available. If you prefer loose teas, they were not offered. The tea takes place in the restaurant where they also offered their main menu. There was a table near us that totally ruined the vibe for us. They didn’t have the afternoon tea service. They were loud, obnoxious. The actual server was so nice and attentive but the experience was lacking.

We had a reservation for 8 pm. Now we were 10 minutes late, which was fine they had plenty of tables open. However they didn’t sit us until 8:30 pm. Not because we were late but not one person came up to the host stand to seat us. Mind you we had a 9:45 pm movie to catch. We sat down and just put our order immediately in and told them serve it as it’s ready. We ordered fries, Brussel sprouts, yellowfin tuna, and short rib. 20 minutes go by and nothing…not even the fries. 9:10 rolls around and nothing. So we told them we have to be out of here by 9:30 pm and they just flat out said sorry we won’t have the food out in time and they will just cancel it as the cook hasn’t even started it. So 50 minutes of waiting not one morsel of Food and they screwed up our second round of drinks. We had vodka martinis first then they gave us gin for second round. The servers and front of house staff were very cordial and apologetic sincerely. It clearly falls down on management and back of house for this utter failure. Hope they do better because it’s a one of a kind unique spot in Austin ambiance wise.

I reserved this restaurant for big group of us. The restaurant is located in charming Ella Hotel and is inviting. We were seated in a room that was mostly empty and noise level was minimum and everyone were able to talk without having to yell. But that's where good things ended. We ordered cocktails and some of them were messed up and had to be sent back. The appetizers took a while arrive on our half of the table while other side got theirs at least 15 min before. Then we ordered another round of same cocktails and this time around they looked and tasted different than previously ordered ones. Maybe the bartender changed? The food also took a while to arrive, but that wasn't the problem. They seem to run out of things and substituted things without informing us. By this time the room got filled up and the noise level was considerably high. And finally, when they asked how we will pay the bill, we said 3 ways. So they brought 3 bills with 3 different amounts to pay instead of dividing equally. By that stage we were all so ready to leave, that we didn't fight it. Overall, the food was ok, some items like chicken potpie were good and others were fair. Needless to say, we aren't going back.

Was exploring the space as a potential wedding venue and knew the food was an important element. Goodall’s kitchen left us impressed with every course. The baked Brie, roasted caesar salad and beef short rib were some of our favorites. The staff, Porter and Max were so kind and accommodating. We will definitely be back here, even if don’t select the hotel as a venue.

The food was delicious. There were many vegetarian options and we tried several. The pumpkin ravioli was a hit as well as the kale salad. We thought the prices were reasonable.

Emily our server and Chase restaurant Supervisor (I believe) were so gracious and friendly. We ordered chicken pot pie and Japanese squash ravioli. Both dishes were excellent! Great service and food. Highly recommend!

Food was bland. Water glass had lipstick on it, food and crumbs on booth seats. Server was nice & polite. Low rating is mainly due to flavorless/ oddly flavored food.

Service was very slow. We were told the restaurant was understaffed, but there were only four tables with patrons. Food was delicious, but the burger was heavy. Sweet potato chips with pesto whip was phenomenal.

Our dessert was frozen solid and they did not know how to fix iit we were left for nearly 30m whiles they were busy in the kitchen with no weight staff in sight. Very strange. .

We made reservations for the tea service, such a disappointment. Took 40 minutes to get our food, and when it arrived it was missing 50% of the set menu items for the tea service with no explanation. 15 minutes later the waiter explained they didn’t have any fresh salmon so instead gave us all chicken salad “sliders”. No substitutions were offered. 10 minutes after that the missing macarons (still frozen), layered cake (still frozen and some type of berry/white cake vs chocolate on the menu), and jams were finally brought to the table. They should just stop offering a traditional tea service.

We made a reservation but they had an event booked at the restaurant. They sat us at the bar outside the restaurant. It was our anniversary and it looked like they did not communicate with open table at all. Also they brought us the wrong order, which we ate because we were on a time crunch. Food was great and they did not charge us for the mistaken order. No one seemed to know anything. Very overwhelmed. We should have listened to the valet who told us the restaurant was closed, but we assured him we had a reservation.

waaaaaay overpriced for the quality of food being served. poor presentation and average taste, but with 4-star pricing. cute patio and yard, but the ambience and location are really the only positive points.

I had a lunch reservation and arrived to find the dining room filled by a meeting. They opened the bar area to accommodate us, but that was not ideal. I feel like there is always something a little off when dining at Goodall's. Too inconsistent. I won't be back unless I absolutely have to.

We made this reservation for afternoon tea at noon on a Thursday (one of the two days they do afternoon tea) through Open Table to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived a few minutes early, the host asked us to wait while he checked to see if the kitchen was finished preparing our set up. The restaurant was nearly empty. When he returned, he then told us he had no record of a reservation for afternoon tea. He turned us away without so much as an apology. What a disappointment!

The food was excellent. Hollandaise on the crab Benedict was perfectly done. The crab cake was small but delicious. Coffee was excellent. A few minor rough edges on the service. No spoons included with fork and knife. No butter. No salt & pepper. Prices would indicate that these details would be noticed.

Don't do their Mother's Day brunch. Not in the actual restaurant, it's in a banquet hall. The food selection was very sparse. Won't be back.

Goodall's is just getting back into the afternoon tea business, so I understand that there are some kinks to be worked out, such as the following... There should be milk/sugar/honey brought out with the tea, and some saucers or something. We asked for honey, but it just became a mess sitting there on the table, and the tea set didn't feel very special considering that was the whole point. The food was ok but needed some touches like sea salt, olive oil, etc. The macarons were a bit stale, and the biscuits need to be completely different. The waitress was somewhat knowledgeable, but she didn't really sell the experience, to be honest. Saying something looks good doesn't mean much. The manager was very kind and asked for feedback, so I hate to post this publicly but I do think it will help them recognize some things they can improve upon. The tea was delicious and the room was cute albeit empty, and I'd like to go back once they've really gotten into the groove. It was way cheaper than most tea places, and with a little improvement, they could be packed at all times in the future.

We had a great time at Goodall’s. We chose it because of its location. It’s excellently nestled between campus and downtown, but not flooded with students or too loud to have an actual conversation over dinner. Our server was wonderful; attentive, but not overbearing. The manager brought our food and made sure we were having a good time. There’s a solid cocktail selection and while the menu is simple, everything was perfectly prepared. It was just an overall great experience. We’ll be back.

Eggs and bacon for Easter Brunch with hard biscuits? No fruit. No children's deserts (only mocha and carrot flavored). Spinach leaves with sliced radish for your greens. The service was beyond terrible for $400. We had to stack plates and wave anyone who would look at us to get a drink. It was very pretty and the staff were kind but the menu was embarrassing. There wasn't a reason to visit the "buffet" more than one time, we only stayed about an hour because there really wasn't any reason to stay. We have been here in years past and it looks like they have adopted the "inflation menu". All cheap eats with zero creativity. Do better Goodall's!

We were told the menu would be the regular brunch menu but it was a special Easter buffet - which did not offer much variety- hardly any vegetable options and no fruit at all, a standard at a spring buffet. Drinks took forever to arrive from downstairs or wherever they were coming from, and overall it was very slow service. Two separate orders of coffee also arrived ice cold in our coffee cups. I would have expected much better from such a well-known hotel on a holiday occasion.

The ambiance was fun and lively but not noisy! The waiter was really attentive, helpful and polite but not intrusive. The food was good and the service was efficient. A very fun lunch.
