Chef Stephanie Izard and her team are thrilled to join LA’s vibrant restaurant community and continue our tradition of serving tasty, bold-flavored foods in a fun and lively family-style setting. A few favorites, like goat empanadas and sautéed green beans, will be back on the menu. Stephanie and her team have also crafted new dishes inspired by California produce and local flavors, like carrot-tahini dip with tahini tofu, and curried goat with radishes, pickled vegetables, and masa chips. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.

Located in the Arts District at 555 Mateo, Girl & the Goat offers dinner service Monday through Sunday, plus brunch Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads and adventurers!

This is our fourth time here. It was our favorite place, but having to wait over an hour before the main courses came out, was too long a wait for the kids.

I will preface by saying it was Mother’s Day so it’s hard to judge based on that busy day but I do think think the menu for brunch seemed over done with too many “seasonings” that were all similar in taste and made it difficult to taste the underlying actual main ingredients. The toasts and biscuits were soaked in sauces and they usually taste good with the crusts the way it is. I ve only had their dinners and I thought those were terrific. I will think twice about brunch in the future

Even better than the first visit. The tastes of every dish were unique, healthful and outstanding without and ounce of preciousness. Shrimp salad. Green beans. Halibut and crispy chicken all excellent. Peach n pear sorbet for desert. Service was attentive lovely and great team work. My new fav DTLA resto.

The 4% “operations” surcharge on the entire check is total BS. No upfront disclaimer. The pork shank is $42 and that’s not enough? Food is excellent but this gotcha charge is BS.

The food was outstanding! The service was good, pretty typical of a nice restaurant. The music inside was way too loud for us. If that is what you like, and many people do, it may be ideal for you. It was a mixture of pop music from various decades, mostly the 80s. We sat at the high tables near the bar. The furniture looks great, but is very uncomfortable. It made us want to finish our food quickly and leave. We will go again because the menu is amazing and one of us is allergic to wheat and they have lots of gluten free items. There are so many great looking items on the menu, we feel like we could go ten times and never get bored.

Loved the space so much and the food was EPIC! highly recommend the halibut they put these little pieces of almond brittle that added that sweet savory spicy ...amazing! Also had the chick pea fritters YUMM and the beet salad was so flavorful. Do not not get the sourdough...you would be fooling yourself if an intense workout isnt worth eating this :)

As always, incredible food. Ordered my favorite salad and tried some new items. Standouts were the green beans, pork belly and sea bass. Freddie was also a server that went above and beyond.

The restaurant was beautiful and airy and spacious. The service was very good. The green beans were outstanding! However, the other three dishes we shared all had hot red peppers in them. None of the dishes mentioned this on the menu. I have a food sensitivity to spicy food (health reasons) and I was incredibly disappointed to have to pick all of the peppers out of each of my dishes. If you are going to place an ingredient in a dish, please, please put it on the menu. They even had wonderfully detailed gluten free menus so I was shocked that ingredients that were so prominent weren't listed. If you have a sensitivity to spicy food, I would highly recommend telling them this because otherwise you may be very disappointed.

Wow! What delicious and creative food. We were a group of 3 and ordered 5 dishes. It was plenty. We had a light pear sorbet for dessert with 3 spoons to top off the meal. We all agreed we would definitely come back.

Great weekend brunch! We came on a Sunday for brunch and it was great. Very unique bold flavors. Loved the shrimp fried rice omelet and ube horchata. The crab french toast, short rib chilequiles, veggie omelet, and cinnamon roll were all good. Service was attentive and the ambiance was an upscale casual that made it comfortable for everyone. Overall a great meal that I would recommend.

This is really a 4.5 overall rating. The food was phenomenal as usual, the service was very slow this time. Unclear if they were understaffed or just overbooked and were far too busy last night, but our reservation was for 8pm and we weren’t seated until 820 and our server didn’t get to us until about 835. Hopefully they figure this out for next time. Regardless of the service, the food was exceptional and more than made up for the initial hiccup.

Great place to try at least once! Based on the name, I would assumed everything else on the menu was goat but actually no! When we went the other day we tried 8 dishes among 4 people and one of them was goat. The flavors were so interesting and such a refreshing take! But realistically if I were to come back I would get the naan and hummus, beef noodle dish, and sea bass which were my personal favorites of the bunch

Another excellent evening. Gilbert orchestrated it wonderfully, from my initial cocktail through the chickpea fritters and the halibut with an excellent Moselle wine and an amaro to end.

The menu descriptions missed the mark, a fiery cocktail had no spice, the green beans with vinaigrette were covered in decorative aioli (mayo haters IYKYK). The sourdough arrived deceptively fast, and then it was a painful trickle of dishes. It took 90 minutes to get the last of other 3 items we ordered and only after alerting the other waiter I was going to miss a flight. Couple next to us seemed to have better pacing. Decor is lovely, food was tasty.

This was the first visit for my wife & I. The food was exceptional with very interesting taste combinations. We had the goat liver mousse, sautéed green beans, goat curry, & crabby bbq pork belly. Each one was a tasty treat! The desert ice creams with the brownie sundae & sesame cookies & cream were delightfully different. Our server, Freddie, was engaging, attentive, & knowledgable about all the menu items. He made my wife’s birthday dinner as special as she is. THX!
